Here's the part where Moorad told me that the fans get to vote on the throwbacks they wear. I give Garfinkel props on this....great idea.

Masur's Musings
Andy Masur not only has a Twitter page & a Facebook page but he now has his own blog.
Wow.....just Wow...this is ummm....wow I don't even know what to say..
Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling says he has "some interest" in running for the late Edward M. Kennedy's Senate seat.
They’d love to add Heath Bell, but the Padres asked for Cameron Maybin AND Andrew Miller. Unless the price comes down the Marlins are out.
Chad Huffman Wins AAA Home Run Derby
I just got back from the AAA Home Run Derby up here in Portland and Chad Huffman beat out Shelley Duncan (Yankees AAA) 5-1 in the final. Apparently he was both a late add to the All-star team & a late add to the home run derby, since Mike Ekstrom was originally slated to make the team but was called up recently so Huffman took his place & I forget who was picked to be in the derby but dropped out before Huffman took his place. Justin Huber was also in it but failed to make it past the first round. I will be going to the game on Wednesday as well so I will be more in depth later with pictures.

I'm Matt F'n Bush!!!!
Quite possibly the most amazing video footage I have ever seen.
Melvin slated to accept job with Padres
SAN DIEGO -- Bob Melvin, let go last month as the manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks, will accept an unspecified position with the Padres, possibly as soon as Wednesday.
Melvin was in San Diego on Monday and Tuesday meeting with Padres team officials, including general manager Kevin Towers.
Tom Garfinkel to take over as President & COO
Today, Padres CEO Jeff Moorad is to introduce the club's new president and COO, Tom Garfinkel, who resigned Saturday as Diamondbacks executive vice president and COO. He was hired into that job by Moorad. Under Garfinkel, the Diamondbacks emphasized community relations and a family-friendly experience at the ballpark.
Ummmm.....
So I was browsing Joblo for my latest breaking news in movies and low and behold who do I see staring back at me? Kevin Kouzmanoff telling me he'll show me how to earn up to $7,500 a month from home. How random is this? I think he should have used his alias Phil on this promo instead because this is kind of embarassing. I wonder if he even knows about this? Better yet how long will it take for him to fire his agent after seeing this?

Hal Brown to hold press conference at 3 PM today!!
Obviously it's regarding the Bleacher Bums and the 3-7 time slot but who knows what he's going to say. Maybe he is giving the Bums a 2nd chance (Please God no!!!) or maybe he is announcing a new hiring.....I really don't think he is going to FIRE Jordan or Earl on the air though.....that's not the way businesses are ran.....then again businesses don't hire people who have no expieriance at all and give them the best spot possible at that particular job so who knows what will happen.
It's your chance to be on the Amazing Race!!!
This Sunday March 15th, 2009 from 8AM-4PM at the Jeromes on West Morena Blvd. Amazing Race auditions are going down for the new season. My girlfriend and I are actually going to go for the first time too. I'll be the one next season instead of looking up flights on the computer I'll be looking up Padre scores on Gaslampball....then a small tear will trickle down my cheek......siiiiiiiggggh.
Battle of the Budgets, Day 1
The economy is impacting everyone, baseball included. Teams are looking to build more cost-conscious rosters. But how? Is it doable? Are there enough talented, relatively inexpensive players to build a competitive roster for, say, $40 million, which is roughly the payroll the San Diego Padres hope to operate at in 2009?
Well, ESPN.com put four of its experts on the case.
Over a recent five-day stretch, Baseball Tonight's Steve Phillips, ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney and ESPN.com's Jayson Stark and Rob Neyer drafted their own 25-man rosters.
Classic will open doors at Friars camp
Towers said he's not against finding a place in San Diego for Blanks, even if that means moving him to the outfield while Gonzalez, an All-Star and a Gold Glove winner for the first time in 2008, plays first base.
"We've talked about it," Towers said. "We've got to find somewhere for him to play. He reminds me a little of Carlos Lee. He runs well for a big man. He's not a clogger. I think he is a solid baserunner.
"We might hit him some fly balls. But if we decide to make a position change with Kyle, it would be something we would do in a controlled environment."
Conventional wisdom: Get fans involved early
Of course San Diego decides to go against the grain and take away our fan fest this year.
So I think what this article is trying to say is we need to throw our own Friarfest this year. Who's with me?
Brewers targeting Hoffman
"I just spoke on the phone with Melvin, and he said he's trying to find out as soon as possible -- perhaps even by the end of today -- what the chances are of signing Hoffman. The 41-year-old right-hander became a free agent when San Diego decided not to offer him salary arbitration because of budgetary restrictions."
What having Gagne get lit up for them last year wasn't enough? Maybe they will sign Mitch Williams next year.
Moorad resigns from Diamondbacks, will seek ownership of Padres
Jeff Moorad has resigned as chief executive officer of the Arizona Diamondbacks to pursue ownership of the San Diego Padres.
The team promoted team president Derrick Hall to chief executive officer, Diamondbacks managing general partner Ken Kendrick said Friday.
KT reportedly interested in bringing back Aki??
I'm not sure exactly what KT said because when you click on the "he'd like to sign Otsuka" link it takes you to a page that is in Japanese.....ummm...or Chinese...or is it Korean....or ummm...nevermind.
