According to "a source close to him" Yuri Wright gave his commitment to Colorado. While that doesn't sound promising for RU, it's far from a signed letter of intent. For some reason this feels like it's a report that is just about to be refuted. Let's hope so too for Yuri's and RU's sake. To me, Schiano seems like he's much better suited to turn this guy into a squeaky clean dominant CB, than Colorado.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that this changes in Rutgers' favor by next week.

This just goes to show you that the best coaches/teams/scouts really respect the quality preparation that Rutgers provides its' players.
That's a pretty solid recruiting pitch right there too. "Would you like to play in the Super Bowl? Come to Rutgers."

Rutgers — 5

Giants
CB Brandon Bing
Patriots
CB Nate Jones, CB Devin McCourty, WR Tiquan Underwood, DE Alex Silvestro

Bleeding Green Nation SKOHRboard's Favorite Eagles Targets in each round of the Draft

26962_medium

via assets.sbnation.com

Only Andy Reid and a few very trust-worthy Eagles Coaches, Scouts, and front office people know who they might actually be targeting in this years draft. But that doesn't stop me from talking about who I'd like to see them take. I'll assume for this exercise that Free Agency doesn't start today, the day before the Draft, in which case the Eagles would obviously immediately sign Asomugha and trade Kolb for picks in the 1st and 2nd in this draft and the next. I'm assuming that because if I thought about it my head would explode and that would make typing really really difficult.

Plenty of people think that Right Offensive Tackle is a major need for the Eagles but those people are wrong. Winston Justice played just fine last year until he was hurt. What the Eagles need is a Right Guard (which would also help Justice). Actually I'd place their needs in this order, RCB, RG, LB, S, DE, DT, and finally OT. As you know, this year's Draft takes place before Free Agency (probably) so more teams will be drafting for need with the intent that the players they select will have to step in and start immediately rather than sit a while to learn and develop. I really think that focus on drafting for need rather than upside is going to noticeably impact the selections we see teams make this year. With all of that in mind, let's take a look at who I think the Eagles will be targeting or who I'd like them to be targeting in each round of the draft

First Round

  • Jimmy Smith - CB, Colorado
  • Akeem Ayers - LB, UCLA
  • Mike Pouncey - OG, Florida
  • Aldon Smith - DE, Missouri
  • Ryan Kerrigan - DE, Purdue
  • Corey Liuget - DT, Illinois
  • These are the guys that I'd like to see the Eagles target in the First Round. I think Jimmy Smith is probably their top target but if he isn't there my guess is they take one of these guys or try to trade back into the early Second. They are in a great position to trade back there too as a few teams who are looking for a QB are there at the top of the Second and with Seattle picking at #25, some of those teams might be looking to jump them in order to grab the QB they want

    Second Round

  • Ras-I Dowling - CB, Virginia
  • Brandon Harris - CB, Miami
  • Martez Wilson - LB, Illinois
  • Mason Foster - LB, Washington
  • Rodney Hudson - OG, Florida State
  • Marvin Austin - DT, UNC
  • There is a lot of talent in the 2nd Round at both LB and CB which are both positions of need for the Eagles. Hopefully one of these guys is available when their pick comes up. I really hope they can grab one of Jimmy Smith, Ras-I Dowling, or Brandon Harris because after those guys the prospects get a little more dicey. They have to be comfortable with whatever starting CB they get in this draft right away because who knows what they'll be able to get in Free Agency. (Asomugha!! Fingers crossed) By the way, even if FA does start tonight or tomorrow and they can get Nnamdi, I still think they should nab a top CB because let's face it both he and Samuel are pushing that 30 years old barrier that Reid dislikes so much.

    Third Round

  • Bruce Carter - LB, UNC
  • Clint Boling - OG, Georgia
  • Randall Cobb - WR, Kentucky
  • Rahim Moore - S, UCLA
  • Taiwan Jones - RB, Eastern Washington
  • Deunta Williams - S, UNC
  • Christian Ballard - DT/DE, Iowa
  • Nate Irving - LB, NC State
  • Look at all those guys just hanging around there! If I could have my pickings, I'd take all of them. Well maybe just one of the Safeties but that right there would be a fantastic draft. Two stud LBs, a dependable and versatile Lineman, a Swiss-Army Back, the fastest RB prospect since Chris Johnson, and a super athletic DE/DT (with some brand new character concerns!).

Mocking The Draft SKOHRboard.com 2011 NFL Mock Draft 3.0

It's a wrap.  Now that the 2010 season is in the books, organizations turn their attention to building a better team in 2011.  Let's ignore all the CBA BS for now and focus on the upcoming draft.  The All-Star games are over so we have a better idea of where the top guys are shaking out and we have the entire draft order set, so let's do it.

As always you can create a mock of your own over at DraftDebacled.com and you can find tons of other mock drafts at WalterFootball and DCProSportsReport.  Please let me know your thoughts in the comments especially if you are a fan of one team and really disagree with the position or style of player drafted in this mock.

    Round 1

    1.

    Patrick Peterson   from LSU

The Panthers will take Peterson because he is a truly elite talent.  The complexity a lockdown Cornerback affords a defense is something that their new DC, Sean McDermott, will love when they start using his blitz packages that he ran with the Eagles. A shutdown CB helps in 2 areas of the field, first by stopping a team's top WR and second because he makes the QB hold on to the ball too long and then the pass rush can get to him. Peterson is being talked about like he is one of the best in a long time.

Fairley and Bowers will certainly get consideration here but it's much easier to find highly talented DTs and DEs later in the draft than it is to find once in a generation CBs.
    2.

    Nick Fairley   from Auburn

People say that Fairley is a one hit wonder and he takes plays off so that will hurt his stock.  I'm not buying it.  Fairley was dominant in every game that I saw him play and he even played multiple positions along the D Line.  That versatility is going to be huge for him on draft day and compel the Broncos to take him 2nd overall.  He'll pair nicely with Dumervil and be flexible enough to move to either the NT or DE spots depending on what front they are using.

    3.

    Marcell Dareus   from Alabama

The Bills could not stop anyone from running on them last year which was a problem because they were often behind in games and needed to preserve the clock.  Dareus is more of a penetrating tackle than he is a run stuffer but there is more than one way to mess up a running attack.  Dareus played against double teams and through injuries this season so he wasn't as dominant as he was last year but the talent is still there.

    4.

    A.J. Green   from Georgia

While I don't think the Bengals are going to trade Palmer, they are going to get rid of TO and OchoCinco.  They have drafted a few good WRs in the last few years but nobody is close to Green.  If they address their offensive line in the next round, they have the ability to pull off a very quick turnaround despite losing those marquee names.

    5.

    DaQuan Bowers   from Clemson

There is probably a very slim chance that Bowers falls this far because people love him and he has even drawn comparisons to Julius Peppers.  While I don't think he is quite that good, he will almost definitely be a Top 5 pick.  The Cardinals have Dockett and Campbell playing end now, Bowers is too good to pass up here.  He'll be able to rotate in with those two guys and keep a fresh pair of legs attacking QBs all game long.

Bleeding Green Nation Mike Vick is Super Popular Right Now

After the Eagles beat the division rival Cowboys on Sunday night, the TV cameras showed us Dallas RB asking Mike Vick for his autograph.  The problem was that Dallas had just lost to the Eagles and Vick played somewhat of a major role in that.  You can see where this might be construed as awkward.  Sure they are professionals and once the game is over, it's over, but this just looks bad.  Even if the players on his team are cool with it, he should realize that the fans are probably not going to be so understanding despite his later clarification that, it "was for [his] nephew."

What this is really a testament to is just how popular Mike Vick really is.  He is so popular that he is getting autograph requests from opponents he beats, he is frequently a trending topic on twitter, and he even leads the NFL in All-Star fan voting.  At this rate he could probably win class president in most high schools.  He might even be able to get a BCS bowl bid he is so popular!  Let's just hope he keeps his body in one piece.

Bleeding Green Nation Where to watch in NYC?

My Eagles bar in NYC is no longer.  For years The Town Tavern on W 3rd and 6th has been a great place to go for Eagles games but after walking past it today, I found that it's called 3 Sheets now.  I have no idea how long it's been that way because I honestly try to avoid the place like the plague whenever they aren't showing the Birds.  So now I'm left trying to find a new/better bar to watch the Eagles from in NYC.

The other question I had is if this game is even included in the Sunday Ticket package.  Unfortunately us NYC folks are stuck with Time Warner Cable and therefore no NFL Network either.  Clearly most bars have the Sunday Ticket but do not have NFL Network and obviously no local channels outside of NYC.  Where can I get my preseason NFL fix outside of crappy internet streams at ATDHE.net?

    Thanks for your help!
