Field Gulls John Henderson?

He is expected to be released. After a very good draft for the Seahawks, many holes on the team were addressed. However, there are still quite a few that need to be filled and after an extremely deep draft, many quality players will be cut over the next little while. The main holes on our team, in my opinion, are DE (Not sold on any of our guys at base DE or Elephant), DT (Mebane is the only starting worthy defensive tackle), and Safety (Babs could stand to be upgraded). If Carroll expects to compete this year, then John Henderson should be a target as he still has a lot left in the tank and pairing him with Mebane would give us a great starting DT combination.

Bluebird Banter Morrow to the Jays

Ken Rosenthal reports that the Jays and Mariners hook up, this time sending Brandon Morrow to the Jays for Brandon League and another "prospect." YES! I wonder who the other prospect is, because we're getting a middle of the rotation starter in Morrow. I love you, Alex Anthropolous. Who could the other prospect be though? It would have to be somebody good. Also, how does this make sense for the M's? Theyre in contending mode and Morrow looked to be a big part of their plans for this season. Whatever, their loss is our gain. I bet its one of our glut of first basemen, Cooper or Dopriak seems likely. It would probably be Cooper though as I believe he's more highly regarded at this point. But this does solve the "problem" of too many first basemen. It could be Arencebia or D'Arnaud too. I don't know who else it could, maybe a pitching prospect makes sense.

Bluebird Banter Baseball America Top 10 prospects

1. Zach Stewart, rhp
2. J.P. Arencibia, c
3. Chad Jenkins, rhp
4. David Cooper, 1b
5. Henderson Alvarez, rhp
6. Jake Marisnick, of
7. Josh Roenicke, rhp
8. Brad Mills, lhp
9. Justin Jackson, ss
10.

Carlos Perez, c

Didn't know Stewart was such a big deal. I have no idea who Jake Marisnick is, or Carlos Perez for that matter. This was made before the Halladay trade was official. I assume that Drabek will be at number one, Stewart to two, Wallace at three, D'Arnaud at four, Arencebia at five and so on. Something like that, I don't know a lot about Wallace though.

Maybe a Thames/Overbay platoon at first? That's the only way I'd want Thames, he'd be better then Millar as depth at first at the very least.

If we are going to sign him to be an outfielder then i'll be disappointed, if the Jays do get a outfielder I hope that he can at least play some center field.

Purple Row Jeff Francis

I am not a Rockies fan so I don't know alot about what happened to Jeff Francis. All I know is that he needs to get surgery on his shoulder (?) because of a torn labrum. What are the chances that he comes back and pitches as effectively as he used to, or at least better then he did in '08? Will he go back to his former glory, or will he be equal or worse to his 5.01 ERA performance in 2008.
