Niners Nation Alex Smith 2011 Highlights

Alex Smith has been the topic of discussion for years around this place. It has been a roller coaster ride for him, and us fans since 2005. We have seen him flourish under Norv Turner, and we also seen him implode under Jimmy Raye and Singletary. With Jim Harbaugh now in the thick of things, Smith has excelled relatively rapidly. We have much to look forward to. With Maningham, Moss, Crabtrre, V.Davis, Kyle Williams, Delanie Walker, and Ted Ginn, plus whoever we draft on April 26, Alex will have a stable of weopons. For all of us sceptics, critics, and supporters, heres some of Alex Smith's best work at the helm in 2011. All Highlights Provided by SneaKickz TV. Niners Nation T.O. JOINS FORCES WITH RANDY MOSS!

A good joke. Maybe a bad joke to most. I really would like to add T.O. to our roster. It would make our offense even more versatile, and dangerous. T.O. should be someone we consider adding to our 2012 roster. I havent heard a peep rom him in 4 years. I would really like to see him in a 49ers uniform once again doning that #81 red and gold. Moss #84 and T.O. together would be explosive. Every defense would be forces to play their man one on one, openning things up for Gore, Crabz, V.D. and D.Walker.

Niners Nation 49ers "owe" Alex Smith

Yes, this is a business first. We all know this. I believe the more in depth question is," what have the 49ers done for Alex Smith". At 20 years old they threw him in at the halfway point behind Tim Rattay. He had a horrendous rookie outing. His best reciever was who knows? TE Eric Johnson. They had a crappy O-Line also. They nearly killed his career, truth be told. Mike Nolan questioning his toughness as he needed surgery to repair damage done from having an awful O-Line. Jimmy Raye, and Singletary, than Mike Johnson. Not to mention allowing Mike Martz to come in with his hand picked BUM J.T. O'Sullivan 20+ fumbles. Now he finally got some chemistry with Josh Morgan, and what did they do? Let him walk. His first playoff experience, who were his WRs, with Delanie Walker, Ted Ginn, and Kyle Williams battling injuries? Joe Hastings, Brett Swain, and Crabtree. They even let Braylon Edwards walk. They ruined his chances at a Super Bowl in all reality. The 49ers OWE Alex Smith better than they're giving him. Sign him, get some rookies in the draft. Get a solid RG, and lets finish what we started. 49ers 2005 WRs include Otis Amey, Arnaz Battle Rasheed Marshall, Jonhny Morton, Brandon Lloyd, and Jason McAddley.TEs Billy Bajema, Terry SJones, and Brian Jennings.PLEASE REMEMBER We released Eric Johnson,to the NO Saints later. He was the top TE in Receptions for a couple years. Would have been good with V.D. 49ers 2006 WRs:Taylor Jacobs, Brian Gilmore, Arnaz Battle, Brandon Williams, and Antonio Bryant TE:Vernon Davis. He wasn't very productive in his rookie season. However, Alex Smith, and Frank Gore had Career highs this year. It took Alex Smith 5 years to play at this level again. It is worth noting, Norv Turner had Alex Smith and Frank Gore playing at a high level this year. One could only speculate what the possibilities were had we kept Norv instead of Mike Nolan. Long story short, Alex has suffered near career ending injuries due to lack of O-Line or WRs. He has faught to return every year. Most QBs would have left after the whole J.T. O'Sullivan, and Shaun Hill slap in the face. Alex is finally looking good, and developing his confidence. He would now have Moss, Crabtree, Manningham, (should have Ted Ginn) and I still believe Kyle Williams is a great talent.(NO ST EVER!) and we have a solid core on the O-Line. I have faith we will plug the hole at RG, and add another rookie WR prospect to learn under Moss. Maybe this Hill kid, or even Alshon Jeffery. WE ARE LOCKED AND LOADED FINALLY! And Alex is in limbo...More disrespect. I AM ON RECORD SAYING IT TO THE ENTIRE NINERS NATION. SIGN ALEX SMITH. HE IS OUR BEST OPTION FOR A DYNASTY. Peyton Manning is asking to break the bank based off his past success. If he's even healthy, he still has to get readjusted to playing in the NFL, and learning a new system. I a smell BIG MISTAKE HERE FOLKS.

Niners Nation A few things I noticed watching the Saints

The bad news is, the Saints passing game was clicking, and their run game was very effective against the Lions. However, they will be playing a top defense, and take away team in the 49ers. I seen the lions drop multiple interceptions. We will not. Also the fumble that got whislted dead, should have been 6 points for Detroit. Basically the Saints can be stopped.

I believe we will shut down any attempts in running the ball. They will not be able to produce on the ground against the 49ers. Also the 49ers MUST maintain discipline against the play action pass. The Saints use play action 80% it seems. Our secondary MUST not be over agressive in run support. That will be a key component in us slowing their passing attack.

The Lions run game was not existant. 7 carries for 29 yards. We have to get our 1,2 punch in Gore, and Hunter going. I even expect to see a few Anthony Dixon sightings in short yardage situations. I notice Dixon has been bringing it lately

Last but definitely not least, getting our front seven to put pressure on Drew Brees will be the difference between a win, and a loss. Also we must do some real game planning for TE Grahm. The mismatches he will pose on any LB we have. At 6'6" 250+ his athleticism can be a problem against anyone. Darren Sproles out of the backfield on swing passes, and check downs could prove to be deadly. We MUST assign a player to shadow him for the duration of the game. Maybe Navorro Bowman has the speed to stay with him sideline to sideline.

All in all I am preparedto see an epic game next week. As unbiased as possble I really think the 49ers defense, run game, and passing efficiency will provail. GO NINERS!

Niners Nation Greg Roman and the 49ers offense

I know everyone has to see this. Is it just me? Our play calling is horrid. I am nausious stiil. 3rd and 2 shotgun formations, delay of game penalties, 1st and goal from the 5 fade routes. Football is a simple game. It's only compicated if you make it that way. By the way, where are the slant routes, and drags over the middle. Why do we keep throwing to the flats for a gain of 1 yard?. Why isn't Frank Gore being utilized out of the backfield?

All these are questions that are burned on my sleeve. Is it all on our o-line, Aex Smith, our WRs, or is it the football guru upstairs known as Greg Roman? I say yes to the latter. On that note, we will be in this situation a lot more in the foreseeable future. Offensively frustrated. We have one of the most offensively talented teams ever, and yet we can't seem to mustur a first down.

When you come out in shotgun, or empty backfied it makes things much easier for the opposing defense to detect, PASS,PASS,PASS. Why do we continue to give defenses the upper hand in that regard? Make them play the run too. we have one of the best run games in the league. That alone is an advantage when it comes to play calling.

I hope the team addresses these issues in the upcoming weeks. Our o-line has given up way too many sacks as of late. We reverted back to our old o-line. Granted, Joe Staley was injured. Either way we have given up too many sacks. What happened to the three step drops we had going early on?

I don't think Greg Roman knows a whole lot about football. It looks like he does rock, paper, scissors wth himself to see what play to call.Like the 3rd and 2 wildcat he called last week against the Rams. Really cute. Just line up the men, and move the chains already! The fly sweep is a beautiful play htat even set up the Frank Gore 50 yard TD run yesterday. But we seem to make things harder than they shoud be with sub-par play calling. I appreciate all the positives Roman has brought to our team, but his situational calls are questionble. Delanie Walker, and Vernon Davis should be the most feared duo in the NFL. I even see Vernon getting a bit hot underthe collar lately.

Niners Nation 49ers DNA made of champions

Former 49ers coach Steve Mariucci pointed out that the 49ers are stacked with first round draft picks. And he was right. 1-Alex Smith, 2-Joe Staley, 3-Mike Iupati, 4-Anthony Davis, 5-Vernon Davis, 6-Michael Crabtree, 7-Braylon Edwards, 8-Ted Ginn Jr Are all 1st round starters on offense. "EXPLOSIVE". Add Frank Gore, and Delanie Walker as blue chip players who are performing like 1st round picks. (Gore would have been if not for his knee injuries coming out of Miami. Delanie Walker would have went higher as a TE but he was a WR coming out of college). He infact was converted to a TE to compliment Vernon Davis. "GENIUS" plan.

On defense the only first rounders are Carlos Rodgers, and Patrick Willis (on his way to being arguably the best MLB ever. "GENIUS", or a no brainer depending on who you ask. Desean Goldson has quietly amassed enouph BIG ball jarring, bone crushing hits to rival another hard hitting 49ers safety by the nae of Ronnie Lott. And YES I am comparing him this early in his career. He arrived on a game vs. the Cardinals a few years back, knocking the snot, andthe ball out of the Cardinals RBs Hightower, and 6'2" 230 lbs RB Beanie Wells. Goldson is instilling the fear needed over the middle to create some miscues by WRs of any caliber. Some of his hits have been unjustly called unnecessary roughness, or illegal blow to the head. Instant replay cleary shows the naked eye has faultered on more than one occasion this season. What goes under the radar is Goldson's knack for getting to he ball. He has shown great ball hawking attributes during his tenure with the 9ers. We also have aquired SS Donta Whitner also from a winning program in Ohio State. Whitner is one of the best pure tacklers on our team. Ironicly Whitner and Nate Clements show simular tackling technices. They are both from Ohio State, and the Buffalo Bills. Hmmmm. Wonder if it's a coincidense?

On the defensive line we have players who are extremely efficient in getting push in the trenches. This allows for our edge rushers to get to the QB by collapsing the pocket. The leader of the D-Line Justin Smith is unstoppable. Coupled with Ray MCDonald, Isaac Sapoaga and we are looking every bit of an elite D-Line as we've seen thus far. Adding Aldon Smith was an important part of getting our defense geared to pressure QBs and allow players to get interceptions. Parris Harylson, and Amaad Brooks are touph. We look just as good, or better than the Steeler LB core Harrison, Timmons, and Woodley. Navarro Bowman has officially had a breakout season thus ar with 7 games remaining. I like what the staff has done with utilizing Willis and Bowman as pass rushers as well as run stoppers, and coverage guys. They are complete LBs in that regard. Dropping back, side to side, and up te middle. Simple football if you ask me.

Extreme Upgrades in the backfield in Kendall "Ken-do-it-all" Hunter, and  convrted FB Bruce Miller have been X-factors so far. Any time Hunter touches the ball he has a positive impact on the game. His speed, and strength are that of a premier NFL RB. He also shows great vision, and gets north and south fast like his mentor Frank Gore. I only assume Frank is showing this young man the ropes. I see plays where Hunter could bounce it outside but elects to slash it up the gut instead. It seems to throw the defense off every time.  guess they expect him to always swing it out. He's rugged. Bruce Miller will ultimately be our FB for years to come. He just fits the bill. Tough, physical ,and good vision on who to hit. Also shows decent hands out of the backfield. I wonder how he does in short yardage carrying the rock.

Last but not least is Caoch Harbaugh, and the band. Harbaugh's insight in bringing in his guys from Stanford have proven to be and underestimated aspect to 49ers success.

Niners Nation Effective immediately: Start Chris Culliver. Sit Terrell Brown. Please!

Since drafting Terrell Brown, I hve yet to see him flourish at the pro level. He played decent at Texas. This year he has been looking real lost in coverage. He has allowed Hakeem Nicks to muscle him, Josh Cribbs blew past him for a TD while Brown showed little effort to recover on the tackle attempt. Ok you get beat, it happens. Bring the man down at least dude. Brown is not even fast for his size at 5'10 190. We must address this issue. With Spencer ailing, and aging, we released ummm, what's his name...dog gonnit...uhhh Phillip Adams that's it. Tremine Brock is a prospect worthy of retaining in the off season.

It looks like Terrell Brown is always looking for Goldson, or Whitner to help ove the top, so he allows his man to get behind him. It will prove fatal in the long run. A team like GB who runs a 4 wide set often with quality WRs at each position in D.Driver, G.Jennings, 6'3" 215 lbs JORDY NELSON! sheesh!..Then there's James Jones. NYG exposed our secondary a bit today. We have PIT coming up in a few weeks. We gotta have some tenacity at the CB position to hang with the BIG BOYS. This is just something I've been noting since the Dallas game, how Miles Austin picked us apart, then the rookie blew past everyone in O.T. to seal the deal. I have really be concerned with this. Yes Carlos Rodgrs is doing a solid job. He needs help though. I know we have a great defense alltogether, and this may seem like I'm nit picking, but I'm really looking at the hole in the seconday in Terrell Brown. This off-season we must get some real depth at the CB spot. ASAP. FYI, I would take a real looong look at going after CB Vontae Davis from MIA. Vernon's brother. Plus Vontae would be perfect forour style of play. PHYSICAL!. That would shore things right up at the CB position, then draft some prospect in the 2012 draft. Tell me what you think after the jump

Niners Nation 49ers have been built for the long haul

Ok family here at Niners Nation, to say this has been an awsome year would be an understatement. We have gone above, and beyond the expectations of many 49ers fans, and critics respectively. To be honest I believed we were due for a successful season last year, but there was something missing.

Lets jump in Dr.Browns time machine for a few shakes. What stood out to me last year instantly, was the abrupt firing of Offensive Coordinator Jimmy Raye. Any chance of continuity went out the window with him as his interim fell short of putting it together. I suddenly found myself shocked, and discouraged from having any high hopes of a playoff appearance. Then we were suddenly  staring 0-5 in the face. WOW! 0-5. Then I realize we are destined to have another funky season.

It seemed we lost all the close games. We couldn't get out of our own way. I even attended my first NFL/49ers game vs Carolina Panthers, and saw up close and personally, Alex Smith get injured because of a blown blocking assignment. He sat on the sidelines the rest of the game in a sling while his apparent simular back up Dave Carr looked baffled at the helm. We lost that game, as the Panthers strung together a great comeback run. I believe Carr suffers from pocket paranoia from all those years with the Texans, being hit so much. I feared Alex would suffer such repercussions. Alex has not, infact he is as tough as nails in the pocket. I applaud him for his tough will.

Ok, now we have another Smith (Troy) who has the legs to adlib some passes downfield. Every play seemed to be a broken play. No way to run a playoff caliber offense if you ask anyone who knows. We went to London and beat the "Broncos" and some became enamoured with Smith #2. I saw some potential, but knew he was not the answer.

With the season over we immeiately let Coach Singletary go. I love what Singletary brought o our team, however he didn't appear to have the necessary football IQ. I credit Singletary, and Nolan for establishing, and developing us as a defensive powerhouse.Much respect to them both.

We expeditiously grab Jim Harbaugh after a short bid with Miami. He bring his guys in from Stanford, attains a great special teams coach, and brings back Tomsula  who I have the utmost repect for. He has our D-Line playing at such a high level, snub chewing, grunting and showing enormous emotion. He explains things with simple detail to the D-line. Kudos to Tomsula.

Our secondary Coach has our team coming full circle as the pressure up front, and sustainin coverage downfield have been clicking finally.

UH-OH, NFL LOCKOUT. Just when things were lokking up, NFL football is in doubt alltogether. What did Harbaugh do? He entrusted the playbook, and th entire offense to AleX Smith. Some of us said" Awwww man, has this guy gone crazy" we should let Smith go, and Draft a QB, or even bing in Donovan McNabb. Anyody has to be an upgrade over Smith right? WRONG. Harbaugh knew Smith had the tools, and the mind to grasp his teachings. What a story for the ages. Goes to show what a QB would be with or without great coaching.

One things for sure, we already had the defens in place. We drafted 3 O-Lineman in the first round Staley, Iupati, and Davis. We have two excellent recieving TEs. We added Braylon Edwards, to go along with Crabtree. Josh Morgan has taken a great leap forward before breaking his leg.( Keep in mind, we have yet to see what Crabtree B. Edwards, and J. Morgan look like on the field at the same time). Frank Gore signed for 3 years. (The first 3 weeks we were all concerned if Frank lost it because of the Hip injury). He proved to be just as potent as ever. Now Frank has an official spell back in Kendall Hunter. Kyle Williams showed us something in that Dallas game with the fade route. I pray we utilize him more. Ted Ginn will be an asset once we open things up downfield.

In the NFL draft and free agency we addressed some issues grabbing Carlos Rodgers, and drafting Culliver. They have both been huge keys to our success this season. Already in place was the breakout player of the year IMO Navarro Bowman who is really playing like the second best ILB in the league. Next to Willis of coarse. Ray McDonald has excelled every year. Justin Smith is still an absolute animal. Brooks is showing his size, speed, ad strength off the edge is serious. Harylson, and Aldon have been a great 1,2 punch. Aldon Smith will bee our DeMarcus Ware for years to come. Don't let the number 99 he dones fool you. He is not anything like Manny Lawson. DeSean Goldson is quitely instilling fear in WRs around the league. Add Donta Whitner to the mix, and we're talikin business on Defense.

An then there is Camp AleX. He should get an award for his sportsmanship, and team ethics. Not many wuld be free agents would put together mini-camp, and practice. Also pay for all the rookies taveling expenses to solidify the 49ers legacy as the greatest franchise in the NFL. Let's Go 49AZ.

P.S. Imagine our future with everone reisigning with the 49ers. "We could be on to something really special brewing here"

Niners Nation 2011 49ers "A Work in Progress"

Niners Nation Terrell Owens work out today 2pm ET

I heard all the negative T.O. press. I would like to put a positive twist to the former San Fransisco 49ers great/future Hall of Famers career. I would love to see him join our squad, an assist us in hoisting the ever evasive Lombardi trophy.

Why not end your career, and make good on your karma after chasing a Super Bowl win for over a decade. Terrell Owens if healthy, would be exactly what we need. A veteran 6'3" 225 lb physical run blocking, endzone hog of a widout.

I believe T.O. would have great chemistry with our team, especially with Coach Harbaugh, and Vernon Davis. Their work ethic would be pushed to even greater heights. Again I ask, why not? Look at this line up

 QB Alex Smith

RB Frank Gore/Kendall Hunter

FB BruceMiller

WR Michael Crabtree/ Kyle Williams

WR Braylon Edwards/Terrell Owens

TE Vernon Edwards/Delainie Walker

Niners Nation Jim HarbWalsh

After intense examinations of our first two outings, I immediately appreciate Coach Harbaugh's genius. In game one I saw a heavy dose of the trademark westcoast offense slant patterns. Most were overthrown, underthrown, etc..by QB Alex Smith. Although the accuracy wasn't there on the passes, the WR's running the routes were in position for a pass completion. In game two on a Kyle williams shallow post corner route I replayed over, and over.  On this play I realized the execution of the route with the crossing wide out.

Harbaugh has also managed to be creatively simple, but not predictable. Most formations that the team lines up in are Hybrid. With the talented personel at TE and size at WR these formations work. Also the run game has been emphasized. I really love the depth we now have on the O-line. Killgore was a steal in the 5th round for sure. I see him pushing for Chilo Rachal's spot in the immediate future. The blocking protection was great, with the cup only half full. The aquisition of Colin Kapernick will prove to be absolutely ingenius. He has a laser beam arm/accuracy, and Vince Young type atheticism. Alex Smith showed flashes worthy of a first round pick at times. His consincy is suspect though, as we all know after 6 painfull  years at the helm. This kid Kendall Hunter is awsome. His speed, toughness, elusiveness, size, and vision make him a lagitmate contender for the dynamic duo with Gore. Hope the 49ers re-sign the Tank. We lost T.O. and  OLB  Julian Peterson from being cheap. PAY FRANK MAAAAAAN.!!!!

Niners Nation My Madden GM skills at work for 2011

Ok, we all have our respective points of view. Mine is most likely not very unique. However there are some new revelations that warrant some attention. Carson Palmer wanting a trade deserves some looking into. Here's what I would do

 1. Get Carson palmer for a 2nd round pick, Nate Clements, and a future pick.

 2. Get Terrell Owens back here ASAP. He should retire in the bay. Also, T.O. and Palmer  obviously have developed some chemestry in 2010.

 3. Go after Namdi Asumaguoi aggresively. No Nate Clements type contract though.

 4. Get Vince Young in a 49ers Uniform.

 5. Bring Troy Smith back, and release D.Carr.

 6. Draft Cam Newton if he falls to us. I like him. Many analysts don't have him projected high on the draft board. I see a Josh Freeman, Aaron Rogers type of potential there.

 7. Obviously we need some DE and DB upgrades.

 8. I would try to get Logan Mankins.

 9. Eric Heitmann should be evaluated and retained. Bass may work at RG worse case scenario. Or draft a RG in the 3rd, or FA.

 10. We need another RB. Westbrook is almost done. Gore can't seem to muster a 16 game season, maybe 18 now. Anthony Dixon is on the rise, but we need speed back there

 11. Aggressively reach out to Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott, and maybe even John Taylor to aid in teaching our young guys. Lott especially for Taylor Mays. He could be special.

 12. Win a playoff game in 2011.

                        Peace, Stelf Bombz

Niners Nation Anthony Dixon (The Workhorse)

What's up fellow 49ers. I don't make too many posts, but when I do it's relative. Today I wanna know your thoughts on RB Anthony Dixon. I been scouting this man since last year as a possible addition to our thin backfield. This man is an absolute problem in the backfield. I can visualize him eventually being our starter when Frank Gore decides it's a wrap. In fact, Dixon's style is simular to gore. He's a lot more durable, and menacing though. No disrespect to Frank, because Frank is the truth. However, this new guy has something to offer. I like him, and Frank as the Dynamic Duo. Maybe the best tandem in the league. The only other tandem I would mention in the same breath would be Ray Rice/Willis McGahee, Ronnie Brown/Ricky Williams, and maybe LT/Shon Greene if LT has found the fountain of youth....CHECK OUT THIS HIGHLIGHT COMPILATION AFTER THE JUMP THAT I PERSONALLY PUT TOGETHER...IT'S CRAAAAAZY!!!! Let me know your thoughts about this guy...Aight,..till next time Peace

Niners Nation 2010 San Fransisco 49ers

                                                                                                        Analysis

We will for the first time in 8 years absolutely be in the post-season. Also we we have a team geared towards the future with a few retirements down the line in T.O.,and Peppers. With Taylor Mays in the deep secondary with our new found ball hawk, and run supporter D.Goldson, and our pass rush with A.Franklin up the middle, Peppers,Smith,Brooks,Harylson on the edges our CBs will all be great. Also RB Anthony Dixon will provide us with some thunder to help out the ground game along with Coffee.

Our Recieving corps will be extremely dangerous for everyone in the league. T.O. Crabz, V.D., Gore, D. Walker, J.Morgan, J.Hill, and unproven threat B.Jones will give A.Smith all the fire power he would need in our new found ir attack. Our defense, and offense would be in the top 5.

Dexter McCluster would give us a great special teams returner, and slot reciever...Peace Stelf Bombz...Holla Back

Niners Nation 49ers Future.

Ok folks in 49er land, I am just as discouraged as you, maybe more so. However my calm lies within the fact that this is a team that is geared towards becoming a future dynasty. If the organization does not panic, and start changing personnel in the offseason as history has indicated we may, our continuity will be strong for the first time since Steve Mariucci. Although there are some growing pains to this concept, I am exited about the possibilites of my team, the 49ers having a consistant structure for a few years. Who knows maybe guys like Alex Smith, Jason Hill, and company can actually learn the playbook like the back of their hand, and begin to execute.

I rest assured that the pieces are in place for us to make a serious run at the Super Bowl by 2010. I am patient, knowing that this is just a part of the building process. Ups, and downs, then the next thing you know, BANG,....Domination of our division, then our conference, and the league.

The biggest question in the air( no pun intended ) is= Is Alex Smith our franchise quarterback. At this point we don't have a choice outside of dedicating the remainder of the regular season on finding that out. I will be ok with either revelation. If he's not the franchise, find somebody who will be. If he is, good we can build around that, putting our energy into the other phases of the roster such as O-Line, Safety, CB, whatever.

I know football well. I know if we keep these guys in this system for a few years with minimal fluxuation, we will become a championship team like INDY,NE,PIT,..They thrive because the players become one with the system.

In saying that, I would conclude by saying Jimmy Raye appears to be solid in my opinion. Some things must be chalked up to the players learning the system. The O-line not being on the same page, recievers not  knowing eachothers routes as well as their own. I believe Alex Smith has all the physical attributes to be great. The only way we will find out who he truly is, is by keeping the team in tact, internally, and externally. We don't look bad at all.

Niners Nation Who is the Genius who put Clements on Special Teams?

I know I'm not a GM, or head coach, but Nate Clements should never in a million years be returning punts. For one we pay him top dollar to cover recievers. 2nd he's not thhat good at it. 3rd, it is waaaaaay to risky. I would have went with any of these players first, Steve Spurlock, Arnaz Battle, Michael Robinson, Jason HillDelanie Walker, anybody exept the $80,000,000 man. Somebody lost me upstairs. I just don't know who's the bafoon. I csn't believe our staff could be this careless. Now our number one cornerback will miss the regular season, at least 6-8 weeks. C'mon maaaan!!!!! Allen Rossum Karma Strikes Back!!!!!!!!!!!!...Peace.....Stelf Bombz

Niners Nation Where is Brandon Jones?

Please somebody explain to me how Brandon Jones has slipped into obscurity, especially when we signed him to a for year deal? Is he still hurt? Is he so far down the depth chart that no one cares? What gives NN? From what I recall he was looking great during the Training camp before the shoulder injury. He was supposed to be one of the top three WRs in the line up. So again I ask, with all of our offensive woes why haven't we seen 49ers number 81 on the field thus far?

Niners Nation 49ERS FANS SHOULD STOP THE BLOOD CLOT CRYING

Ok, we took it on the chin for the first time this year. Why is everyone crying now. Prior to this blowout everyone was in their comfortable chair boasting about how good our team is. What a difference one game makes. First whipe your tears, and relax. This is not our year for the Lombardi trophy anyway. Bigger than that is the fact that, this is the beginning of rediscovering our identity. We lost to a team who has their QB of the future, and a go to reciever. Couple that with a top five running back, with a stout defense, and that is the formula for disaster against a team who is still in search of who they are. Lets not forget they had two weeks to watch film, and practice for this hour of a game. We will be ok. I would start by releasind Dre Bly. I cannot stand that BS mentality. I'mma show boat instead of score. He should be back on the Free-Agent market. Just stupid play by him. I hear talks of firing Greg Manusky now. Are you guys seriously this fickled. He has been the mastermind behind our defensive success. The team just got complacent, and WALAH, there you have it 45-10. I did see Shawn Hills true skill during the game though. That is one positive. I learned that we absolutely need to start scouting for a QB ASAP. I also noticed Alex Smith, and Crabtree, on the sidelines looking especially restless, as if the knew something we didn't. I would like to see Alex Smith, and Crabtree on the field together at some point. Maybe Smith has finally matured. If not, Hill will continue to manage our games while our defense wins. This blow out was made possible by our lowly offense. Three, and outs all day long puts our defense against the wall. We cannot expect the defense to make up for our lack of offense all the time. Also I know for sure we need a Runningback. Glen Coffee is not great. He's subpar. Plus he's a bit slim in stature for what we intend do bring on the ground. Gore has been excellent, but injury prone for the better part of his tenure here in SF. I like Gore, but if he can't play 16 games what good is he. Ironically Ladamian Tomlinson is his favorite player. They share the same disposition. They are both great backs who are hurt too much of the time to be any help to their teams. I opologize if these truths cut deep, but I am a realist. I cannot fool myself! Also this young man Dashon Goldson is not the "ball hawk" we thought he was. I wonder how well Curtis Taylor is coming along? We definitely need an upgrade at both Safety positions. Our recievers are great. Crabtree, Morgan, Battle, Jones, Hill, are the future. I don't believe Bruce will be here for much longer. We also need a viable kickoff returner. Allen Rossum is always injured. Delane Walker? He showed some signs in pre-season on the return team, but he is not used to returning, as we seen on the game changing fumble. We should address this area. We need a Devin Hester, Joshua Cribbs type of return man. Field position is key to a successfull drive. Starting off at the 35-40 beats staring off at the 20-25. We will end up approximately 10-6 this season. 11-5 if Gore stays healthy, and Crabtree goes Texas Tech on em. What happens in the playoffs is just going to be the building process for the teams future.

Niners Nation 49ers Present, and Future

Ok, I will start by saying" It is about time". I honestly didn't believe the Crabtree deal would transpire this late into the season. I am greatful that it finally did. The business part of football is the elephant in the room true fans have to deal with yearly. Now that that part of the business is history, lets get busy on the field, and bring that Lombardi trophy home, not counting us out this year . I realisticly believe 2010 will be our year back on the throne. The reason why is the 2010 NFL Draft. With Crabtree now part of the squad, we have gained much value in this past off-seasons aquisitions. Now looking ahead I realize the Panthers will most likely go 5-11 at best. Their schedule is Probably the toughest I've seen this year, given their level of play in Carolina. Now, with their first round pick, and our own we obviously can do a number of things. I can only speculate. Also we have additional picks from the two Free-Agents we lost in the off-season coupled with the potential pick(s) we will recieve from the J.E.T.S. Jets, Jets, Jets!!!!.  We will be stocked with quality picks in 2010, on top of the fact that Free-Agency will be overloaded with quality players seeking employment from a championship caliber team. That's where we come in. I know for certain we only need a few pieces to the puzzle in order to win the Super Bowl next year.  RT, SS, G, Short yardage RB/workhorse.(Gore has been injured for the last two seasons). We can also use a QB of the future. I like Colt McCoy. I like Sam Bradford as well, I just don't want the 9ers to take that risk with his shoulder damage. We could use a solid DE to compliment Justin Smith. So far Ray McDonald has done exrordinary, however he's been more of a DT this year. We need som speed of the edge from someone on the D-Line not only from our outside Linebackers. ....Peace....Stelf Bombz

Niners Nation 49ers Defense Brings it!!!! every week.

I am pumped up still, at 4am ET watching all the highlights over, and over again. On the east coast I have been hard pressed to see 49ers highlights on ESPN. Since the "Miracle in Minnesota" last week, the niners have been on the highlight reel a bit more. Now we are on all day long. I am greatful for what Coach Singletary has done for my team. Our defense is looking a lot like those 2000 Ravens, even better. I know it was the Rams, but sinse the season opener against the Cardinals, we've been showing signs of our arrival. Today for the first time this season I was able to see an entire game. I hit up a local sports bar in the Charlotte NC area. Needless to say I had to buy out the bar to get the 49ers game aired on one of the Direct TVs. What stood out during the course of the game was how well the defense swarmed to the ball carrier. I see much improvement in our over all team defense. I also recognized how well veteran Takeo Spikes was playing. I realize Willis, Lawson, and Smith have been our anchors, but Spikes has really been busy on every snap. I am glad we did sign him again in the off-season. He compliments Willis on the inside, and he is in on every play. I am also glad to see Manny Lawson finally playing to his potential. He still has some upside though. We are stopping the run as well as any team in the league. Now all we need for the Lombardi trophy is for our offense to balance things out. Shawn Hill, and company are playing solid, but I know we will be more dangerous as the season progresses.......Peace...Stelf Bombz

Niners Nation 49ers 2010 Draft perdictions, and free-agency broken down.

We will without a doubt trade Crabtree to some big money team( Dallas Cowjones) providing us with at least a second round draft choice to go with the two first rounders we already posses. (Thanks Carolina). With our pick from the Panthers being a potential top 15 pick, the 49ers will have learned from their Crabby mistakes and go after who we scout. If I were GM, I would immediately go after DE Carlos Dulap providing he opts to enter the draft and forfit his junior year at Florida. He will give us a true pass rusher with his combination of  strength,size(6'-6") 290 and speed of the edge. He reminds me of Julius Peppers. Speaking of Peppers I can see us really going after him in the up coming free-agency. He will love it in San Fran with Coach Singletary's coaching style. One of these guys will give us bookends on the D-line to compliment Justin Smith( No offense Ray McDonald ). Second I would certainly go after USC's Safety Taylor Mays. With his natural ability, and size (6'-3") 230, he would solidify our secondary. If Curtis Taylor, and Reggie Smith develop we would be set with the safties, because Deshon Goldston is playing solid already. Sorry Michael Lewis, we no longer need your services. Many people believe we should go after a quarterback including myself, but being a realist I predict QB's Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow, and Colt McCoy will not fall to us as Crabtree did. Bradford may slip a bit if doesn't bounce back from the injury to his throwing shoulder. This is why we should address our defense early on. These are gambles that usually pan out for the best. We should absolutely go for an OT in with our second rd. pick. I like Texas Tech's O-lineman Brandon Carter. He is a plow at 6'-7" 354. Other notable players that would be a good fit for us include ( LB brandon Spikes Florida, WR Arrelious Benn Illinois, QB Colt McCoy, DT Terrence Cody Alabama, and RB Evan Royster.)

Niners Nation If Crabtree decides to ultimately re-enter the NFL Draft, do the 49ers recieve any compensation for the loss of the 2009 # 10 pick

I am curious as to what happens to our 2009 #10 pick. Are we just supposed to swallow that. Consider it a loss, and move on? Does the NFL consider providing us with an aditional draft pick in the 2010 draft? What is the deal? I really wish we could have used that pick on someone who actually woulsd eventually play for our team. Brian Orakapo, anyone. Do we just lose out totally. If so I think it is unfair to the organization. We were one of the worse OFFENSIVE team in 2009. We needed improvement as much as any of the other team in the bottom half. We are playing with only, Glen Coffe who isn't much of a factor yet, Curtis Taylor, and Ricky-Jean Francois who are both 7th round choices, and Scott Mckillop who is only a special teams player. The only Free Agent aquisitions made worth noting were Dre Bly who doesn't even start, and Demetreas Evans who has provided no impact to our team. One bright spot may be Brandon Jones who has shown a lot of upside in training camp. If he reurns at 100% we will deinitely need him. The other was signing Moran Norris who was solid for us in the 2006 campaign wich seems like eons ago. Outside of these guys ,we are playing with the same roster from last year. I would like to see Kory Sheets get put on the roster in Gore's absence. Also Tony Pashos should be implimented into the O-Line. Who does he replace? I would suggest David Baas. The m ost improved area for the 49ers has been the coaching staff..

I have heard all the talk about not spreading the offense into a four wideout set. This is not a wise commitment. We should take a page from Mike Martz' book, and look to be more versitile on offense. Shawne Hill, and the O-Line seemed to prosper last season with the spread offense. We should be more open minded with that. Also I replayed the Favre TD over, and over. All I could think was why would a slow db such as Mark Roman be left man to man on a speedster like Greg Lewis, and why weren't we in a more traditional PREVENT defense? At the end of the day I suppose that's why I am in the relocation business, and not coaching in the NFL. But my spirits are up this years as we are "MAKING STRIDES" to become a respectable, winning team. Thank Coach Singletary. I do see drastic improvements although we will be hard pessed without Frank" The Tank" Gore in the line up...Get well Frank. Hopefully Coffe can show us what he's working with and hold it down till Frank is back in business. Stelf Bombz...Peace

Niners Nation Cornerback EMERGENCY in San Fransisco

Hold on aminute. Dre Bly!?!?!?!Brian Kelly?!?!?!?!?!.Why are we scouting for 31 year old CB's. They need to cover recievers these days, not just jam em, and wait for the safty to do what he should be capable doing. That is a scheme bound for disappointment. Walt harris showed us that for the last two seasons. He was getting burned by everyone...I would give Terrell Brown his shot, or trade one of those first round picks for somebody who's gonna be effective.
