Panthers claim Jason Williams off of waivers
@carolinagrowl
Steve Reed
The Carolina Panthers have signed linebacker Jason Williams off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys and released linebacker Abdul Hodge.
Williams was a third-round pick (69th overall) by the Cowboys in 2009 out of Western Illinois. He appeared in 10 games in two seasons.
Jets fans perspective on David Clowney
Things that stuck out at me, no heart and bad routes. Yikes...
David Clowney... I need some info on him
He made comments that he was used the wrong way in NY. He called out Schotty for slapping a label on him as only a deepthreat and ST guy. Many guys at the Carolina blog believe him. I do not. They say that NY is stacked at WR and he got lost in the shuffle. I think you guys were only stacked at WR as of this week and as a result he was cut. Either way I think he had 4 years to show that he can run routes and catch balls. If he could I do not see why he would only be used to run posts and streaks. Unless Schotty is a retard but i doubt that. So if you guys can help me out let me know why he looks like such a bum on paper. Does he drop a lot of balls? Is he just an idiot? like WTF??? And how is his run blocking? thanks
Fox: Clausen to start.

Panthers sign practice squad, bring back six of their own: WR Guy, DT Irvin, FB Jackson, LB Ware, CB Stanford, and RB Vaughan. - Darin Gantt
Steve's 53
Ok now that we have all of the Pre-Season games in the books I can knock out our 53. And this was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

Darin Gantt wrote an article over at the Observer
http://blogs.charlotte.com/panthers/
I will just include a couple of his points. please follow the link and check out the entire article. An please dont copy and paste any of his entire articles over here.
QB Matt Moore was 4-of-9 for 26 yards passing, and the offensive line failed to live up to its billing as well, as the second defensive line got good pressure.
Moore said he thought all the issues were "correctable, some little things." HIs line would have looked a lot better if WR Kenny Moore had hauled in a deep pass, which appeared to go right through his hands.
-- The defensive lines played better than expected, with consistent pressure from the ends and middle.
DEs Tyler Brayton and Greg Hardy had "sacks" (there's no contact on the red-shirted QBs), and DTs Tank Tyler and Louis Leonard flashed a bit from the middle.
Panthers Fan Fest Scrimmage Notes
Some tweets from Fan Fest, most provided by Darin Gantt with Herald and Charlotte.com.

FAN FEST!!!!
There will be a 36 play scrimmage at fan fest. It would be real nice if we could get as many videos as possible of this. just to see how well the guys are working together. A good chance to see if mechanics and awareness have improved from a lot of guys. and a first look period at some others. So if you have a camcorder, or a digital camera(that records video), or a phone with good video recording, please please please bring it. Im personally losing my mind not getting to see anything from anyone this year. Please someone pull this off.
this is problem
Keith Bulluck has been pickd up by th Giants
Dwayne Jarrett in 2010
Dwayne Jarret has been here since 07. He has not accomplished anything so far.
I have been thinking about him a lot (no homo). I have been wondering if this year is his year. So I started looking at him a little and figured out that " He is friggin young". I wonder how much this matters. So I figured to take a look at other wide outs taken in the same draft and more recent drafts. I wonder if we should put any faith in Jarret this year or not. So let us see if we can find some faith after the jump.

The Carolina Panthers 2010 Season Predictions - July Edition
How many ways can it go? We will take a look at that right after the jump. But I have seen a whole bunch of 9-7 predictions. And it is hard for me to believe that. I know I am the "crazy optimist" but still... We do not have Jake Delhomme playing QB. That alone should be like a 3 game improvement. So I just dont get 9-7. we were 8-8 with the 2nd hardest schedule. So now we get the 6th easiest and a QB that can protect the ball and also get it to Steve Smith... and Jarret? go figure. We also have new weapons to throw the ball to. So a 1 game improvement really? lets take a look at how it could go down.
Carolina Panthers in 2010... Our biggest weakness, and the direction we are headed
If you had to point to an area of this team and say something negative then you would be pointing at the DT position. You wouldn’t say WR because we have been gettin by with just 1 forever. You wouldn’t say QB because we have never had 1 anyway(as far as the rest of the sports world considers). You wouldn’t say secondary because they were 4th last year. Can’t say LBs because they’re deep. You might say DE but there’s too much potential there. So what’s left? RB,OL,FB,TE,DT. 2 of the 5 are top notch. The other 2 would be pretty much pointless to talk about. Then you have an important position to our team with nothing but unproven players manning it. So what are you going to choose to talk about?

Who is going to be cut? QBs
Matt Moore has a spot. Clausen has a spot as well for obvious reasons. Cantwell is 1 year into the system. Has a nice cannon he put on display for us in the Pre-Season game against the Giants last year. And Pike who was projected as high as the second round coming into the draft.

Four QBs with loads of potential. Competition in the Panthers camp! Lots of it. It is a wonderful thing to have this much potential at the position. Something we aren't used to around here. It is nice change...for me at least.
The only problem is a good problem to have. Just which one of these guys won't be on the 53 man roster? I can't imagine us going with 4. So one and only one of these guys will be gone. Either by trade or trying to hide him on the practice squad. So who will it be? Cantwell or Pike?
Who is going to be cut?
Jarret? K.Moore? Jackson? Gettis? I can't imagine one of recent FAs or UDFAs (whatever) get signed. With the guys we already have competing at WR it would take a impressive showing from one of these guys.
Out of this group at least 1 of the guys will get the boot. We just can't afford 7 roster spots to WRs. I'm assuming we will go with 6. Smith, LaFell, Edwards, and Wright will get a spot. So at least one of these fellas is going to get the short straw. So who should give us the best chance to win? These guys have different skill sets and bring different things to the table. Who is the most valueable? Why are they valuable?
The Carolina Panthers 2010 Season depends on _____ IMO!
Coaching! If these guys aren't well prepared they won't perform. This is a young team, not a lot of vets. Coaches are going to have to step up and get the most out of their groups.

James please change this to a fanpost...going to bed but didn't want to forget this one lol. Thanks
Where are you now? How did you become a Panther fan?
First FanShot (don't know if I'm doing this right :/ )
Nothing really going on and I'm curious how some people became Panther fans since the team hasn't been around too long. And maybe this could get some guys together to go to the bar and watch the game on Sundays (for those of us outside the Carolinas).
Well I was born in Spartanburg South Carolina Feb. 8th 1985. 10 years later the Carolina Panthers were to begin their first season. The Panthers have held training camp at Wofford college every year. I only lived about 10 mins away so it was no problem for me to go everyday. I would get dropped off and picked up later. So I was free to roam ;)
I went out and bought every panther card I could find. I had a football from a Wofford game, and a Carolina Panther hat. I would watch them practice all day in the HOT sun and when practice concluded I would walk through the gate of the stadium and go wait by the locker room. I got autographs from every one. Greg Lloyd, Kevin Green, Lamar Lathon, Tim Biakabatuka, Kerry Collins, Fred Lane, EVERYONE!
I would hang out afterwards and walk around with my cousin. We went over by the cafeteria and just watched guys come in and out and they would wave and stuff. Rae Carruth (can't remember how to spell his name) stopped and talked for a while one year...taught me how to make a wave cap...I was a little kid I thought they looked cool lol. But the coolest guy man was Michael Barrow. Awesome. He took the time everyday to hang out with us. He brought us inside and played pool with us. Took us inside to eat. Cool cool guy. Always the last guy off the field too.
Anyway needless to say I was in love with the Panthers after all this. I still have the football with the whole teams signatures. I lost a lot of the cards though. Water leaked into the box in the basement :(.
I am now in Tampa Florida. In the enemys house. So Sunday ticket at the bar is my friend. And I have a great bar I found over here. $12 all you can drink draft beer while the games are on.
I got a little carried away didn't mean for this to be that long lol. So let's hear it fellas! How did you become a Panther fan? And where are you now?

I can't do a Fanpost on my phone :( so if one of you guys wanna fix this for me go right ahead.
