Red Sux WS Dopers
Well here it is folks, staright from the front page of the NY Times, Ramirez and Ortiz BOTH tested positive for PEDs in 2003. Let's see them spin their way out of this one. It will be interesting to see how ESPN handles this as I noticed there was no mention on ESPN this morning before coming to work at 9 am. Which is noon on the east coast.....hmmmm, can we some how suspect they're purposely ignoring this? Naaaahhh. Enjoy.
Lackey's Comments
Did anyone happen to read today's LA Times article on the Angles' loss and come away with a HUGE question of what's going on in the clubhouse? Lackey said he basically wasn't calling anyone out or naming names until he takes care of his own business. And that he couldn't talk publicly about things that have changed within the club.
What gives?

NY TIMES: "Odd Man Out" an inaccurate memoir
Never thought all of those things could be the headline but the recently published Utah-based minor league memoir "Odd Man Out" , by Matt McCarthy - a low level (Single A Provo, now Orem) Angel pitcher - details a year pitching for Tom Kotchman that the New York Times says is filled with inaccuracies and impossibilities.
Litany of details listed as inaccurate and not factually supported.
After 1+ seasons in the minors, Yale-trained McCarthy is now a doctor. I'd hate to be one of this guy's patients.
SF Chronicle Article
Bill Dwyer of the LA Times may hate the Angels--or at least according to this morning's LA Times article and the fan post on this site--but Bruce Jenkins of the San Francisco Chronicle is all envy.

Thought you folks would like to see what's being written up here as the playoffs begin next week. The best line I like is where the writer postulates that the Angels could be dominant in the AL West for the next 10 years and how this must keep Billy Beane awake at night. Nice stuff.

Lyman Bostock
For those longtime Angel fans such as myself we remember this guy who was humble and a great ballplayer one and the same. I remember the day he was murdered on a road trip and still talk to my baseball buddies about him once in a while. I can also remember balling my eyes out, I was only 11 at the time and he quickly became my favorite player.
For newer Angel fans or those too young to remember you should check out the following link.

K-Rod Article
Haven't posted here in a while, but I thought you all would appreciate this recent article about K-Rod in the Sacramento Bee. It's a nice shout out to what's been happening baseball-wise on the West Coast--bascially the only thing happening West Coast-wise IS the Angels (Dodgers remain to be seen). So as you can all see it's not all bad budget news up north.
Enjoy.

obviously not your choice but looks as though your bosses like to rub it in.

We're No. 1
In ESPNs latest power rankings. Can anyone believe it.

Now on to more important matters like ensuring I get to 300 characters in order to post before anyone else does. I'm not there yet but hopefully I'm close. That's not it!!!!!!!
Guess the Quote
"Against these guys, I'm gonna tell you straightforward, the anger comes out of me," the outfielder said March 23. "I want to kill all those guys."
Hint: it's easy.
300 yet? Nope. How about know? Not yet. Now? Crapola, what does it take to get to the 300 threshold?
PS
Here's the link and giveaway if you haven't figured it out by now!

Black Magic
He starts in Sacramento tonight against the A's AAA affiliate River Cats. I'll post a report after the game.
Have I reached 300 characters yet? Nope. How about now? That's not it!!!!!!! I must be closer? Now? Nope. How about this? Not quite. Still not there. Now? Still short of the goal, perhaps this entry remedies the problem?
Figgins
It is the end of the month and MLB will be selecting a player of the month. I think it will be Figgins and the incredible month he had on offense to raise his BA to .300+, and he's two for two already today.
Have I reached 300 characters yet? Nope. How about now? Not quite there yet. Now? Still not there, damn!
We're Number 2
According to Fox Sports power rankings:
The Angels are now officially an AL powerhouse. Casey Kotchman has been killing the ball of late, and he's now lifted his 2007 batting line to .323 AVG/.407 OBP/.538 SLG. Orlando Cabrera and Mike Napoli also continue to rake. This offense is no longer just Vladimir Guerrero. Expect improvement from Howie Kendrick as the season deepens. On the pitching front, Bartolo Colon has been struggling, and Jered Weaver is questionable for his next scheduled start.
GA to the DL
Murphy is recalled. GA has a tear in his hip flexor tendon. Ouch! Sounds painful.
I can't help but think this may be a good thing. Willits is tearing it up and I'd hate to see him out of the line-up.
On the other hand I'm a huge GA fan and was hoping for a return to his .300+ avg, 25 HRs, 100+ RBIs, but he's not been hitting very well, .263 avg.
Selig's Salary
If you want to know, Bud the Man, not the beer, made $14.5 million last year. For what I ask? Check it out at http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/baseball/mlb/04/03/bc.bbo.selig.pay.ap/index.html:
"Selig received $14.5 million in the 12 months ending Oct. 31, according to Major League Baseball's tax return, which was obtained by the Sports Business Journal."
Am I the only one pissed off at this?
