Mike Rivera back on minor league deal
Brewers increase the depth of the back-up catching options behind Lucroy
Nationals manager Riggleman resigns
So his teams wins 11 out of 12 to get above .500 and then resigns. There has to be more to this than the decision to decline to pick up his 2012 option.
Details of deferred money in Braun's deal
It look more favourable for the Brewers than 1st might of been thought with atleast $18million to be deferred for 2022-31 interest free. Even the signing bonus is a more managable since it is over 4 years 2012-15.
Greinke to pitch off a mound this week
Sounds like that re-habilitation is going well
Reds change their pitchers for the opening series
Cueto is to miss the start of the season so Homer Bailey is likely to pitch in the 2nd game of the season.
I don't want to see players get hurt but this is good news for the Crew
Sabermetric Almanac
I saw this linked by Rob Neyer on his blog, Thought it might be of use for some people here.
Brewers to open 2010 at home
The Rockies are to be the visitors on the 5th April.
The Crew also play the Cubs in their home opener 7 days later.
Hurdle fired by the Rockies
Not much surprise here, it was probably between him and Bob Melvin as to which manager got fired 1st.
The "Other" BCB reports Harden to the DL
Al is reporting that Harden will be going onto the DL when Zambrano comes back. I suppose it was only a matter of time before Harden made his annual journey to the DL.
Cubs trade Gathright for Freel
So the Cubs decide that having a guy that can jump a car is not actually helping the baseball team so instead trade him for a guy on the DL.
Villanueva likely to be closer on opening day
Assuming that Hoffman opens the season the DL it looks like Macha has indicated the Villanueva is the preferred option to close.
Hoffman's Opening Day hopes 'looking dim'
Looks like we will need to have somebody else close games to begin the season.
Gagne released
No surprise here, Gange is going to try to rehab in private rather than in the Brewers minor league system, saving the Crew some cash
Brewers on Sunday night baseball
At the bottom of this article it gives a list of nationally televised games that the Brewers will play in.
I cant remember the last time that the crew were scheduled to appear on Sunday night baseball in the 1st half of the season, I assume that they had a game the 1st year Milller Park opened but since then I can't remember any.
It does mean that I will be able to see them live on TV here in Scotland since that is one of the 2 games that we get each week live.
Sheets likely to turn down arbitration
I am not suprised although from a Brewers point of view one year of Sheets at around $15 million would of been pretty good.
Lohse signs for 4 years $41million with the cards
In terms of deal very similar to Suppan's
Teixeira is going to the Angels for Kotchman plus minor league pitcher
Looks like the Braves done quite well for a guy who is only a 3 month rental. Kotchman has still got 2 more years until free agency
The Rays and D'Backs had also made offers
Fielder and Braun want to change
Apparently, although Yost ruled it out a couple of days ago Braun and Fielder have requested to swap positions in the line-up (Thankfully not their fielding positions!)
