Tribe Hurlers -- Rondon & Carrasco
As most of you probably know, the Indians acquired 22 year old RHP Carlos Carrasco from the Phillies in the Cliff Lee deal. Jason Knapp was the main piece, but he is a story for another post.
Carrasco always had the stuff, but was prone to big innings. His numbers (the ones that matter) are great. 118 K's and 39 BB in 120 IP. 1.13 GO/AO. What are you thoughts on Carrasco? Do you think he'll be able to put it all together?
One thought I had, was that Carrasco will form a powerful tandem with fellow Venezuelan Hector Rondon, a 21 year old right hander also at AAA. Rondon's numbers have been fantastic this season, he has 97 K's and only 20 BB's in 95 IP. Earlier this season, the Indians front office toyed with the idea of converting Rondon to a reliever, but then withdrew from that notion and reinstalled Rondon into the rotation. Do you like Rondon more than Carrasco? Do you think having players right now on the same team, from such similar cirucmstances, can potentially feed off each other and compete for a rotation spot?
