Buffalo Rumblings Quintin Orakpo?

Hi all

First up, apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere. I've not seen it if so.

I just wanted to put out there how similar I'm finding the Coples opinions from Rumblers (and some media) to the pre-draft opinions on Brian Orakpo.

I definitely remember thoughts on Orakpo being weighted towards him being a serious athletic specimin, a fit at DE or OLB with potential immediate impact BUT having motor issues. The Longhorns/Mike Willaims factor came into this, as did some underwhelming at times college play and him being seeing as a "workout warrior", a la Gholston the year before. To some very prominent Rumblers, Orakpo was a flatout no.

Hindsight is 20/20. Who new for sure Orakpo would be as good as he is. All I'm saying is, I'm wary of falling into the trap of ruling Coples out for what appear to be very similar concerns to a now stud pass rusher. I would welcome Coples at #10.

(Also, I recommend looking back at some of the articles from 2009 offseason. Loads going on including Peters trade, Lynch's felony, discussion on Clay Matthews to the Bills and Terrel Suggs being looked at in a "Potential Bills" series(!) How we would have loved those last two....! Even though at the time Matthews was not a scheme fit. And one last thing that struck me from 2009 posts.... who really was Geronimo and where on earth has he been?! I used to love that guy. I'm guessing he was part of Jaron's staff....?)

Buffalo Rumblings My Bills 3 round mock from what I've heard/read/think

Right, I've tried to take in as much as possible in the last few weeks/months. I'm sure it will amount the some total of nothing but here goes my Bills mock based on what I've heard (interviews, senior bowl pratcice coverage, etc), read(scouting reports, articles etc) and think (....er...?)

I'm still working on the later rounds. We need safety and TE somewhere and maybe a strictly back-up QB.

First pick - Dareus DE/DT

I totally get that the Bills want best/franchise/impact player at 3. That brings Green and Peterson very much into the equation. However, I think if Chan has his way, the only way the Bils don't go run stop here is if both Dareus and Fairly are off the board. Dareus is just about BPA enough to satisfy Nix and Chan gets a potentially franchise versitile DE/DT.

Second Pick - Costanzo OT

Buffalo gets their RT. It may take things to go our way for him to last to our second pick, but it is still likely he's there and we shouldn't hesitate. I especially like his interviews that I've seen. Smart, tough, honest. he has that element of mean that people (including me) like in Levitre and Wood.

Third pick - Sheppard (LSU) LB

Buffalo gets a major shot to it's run defence with Dareus and Sheppard. Tell me those 2 won't sure us up. I serously considered OT here (and would also like OG Watkins from Baylor) but Nix's comments about the O line make me think any additions will be made later in the draft. I know it will enrage some (the mediocrity haters) but I think Pears is the RT barring injury.

Nothing controversial here I think and I would be a happy camper if the first 3 rounds panned out like this....

Buffalo Rumblings Players we wanted....

This interested me and I wasn't sure where to put it. Not sure if it's worthy of a fanpost but here goes.....

There are quite a few players out there who us Rumblers were all over during the last draft or 2 (and some in free agency) that have been cut: (I do realise some will be Practice Squaded)

QB - Troy Smith - Ravens

QB - Dan LeFavour - Bears

QB - Jevan Snead - Buccs

OT - Selvish Capers - Redskins

TE - Chase Coffman - Bengals

TE - Martin Rucker - Cowgirls

TE - Bear Pascoe - Giants

TE - Cornelius Ingram - Eagles

S - Chip Vaughan - Saints

I'm sure there are more, but these are the ones that stood out to me as being the most discussed during mock draft and wish-list type debates. Any thoughts on these? Did we do well to miss them? Anyone want us to go after any?

By the way, Ko Simpson cut by.... the Lions...with that defense?! Wonder if he's still worth millions...

Also, shame about D Fine, J Reed and Alvin Bowen not sticking with their respective teams.

Buffalo Rumblings Sorry. Indulge me.

Hi All

This post isn't intended to be informative or educational or even intended to stimulate debate. I just want to get my thoughts out there before the picks start flying.

What I'd like at 9:

Any of Bulaga, T Williams, Okung

Clausen or even Tebow

Dan Williams

What I wouldn't be angry about:

Jerry Hughes

Spiller

McClain (just so I can say it in a Hans Gruber voice!)

Trading up/down

What I wouldn't like:

Morgan

Graham

Bryant

Also, I will be mostly be eating and drinking:

Ribs

Chips/dips

Selection of cold meats

Coors Lite (hey, I like it...)

See you on the other side!!!!

Buffalo Rumblings What can we live with...?

Brian's recent article on choosing Clausen and Norwood with #9 and #41 in the SBN mock draft got me thinking about what we could live with/without post-draft.

This is based on the obvious fact that we can not fill all our holes with our first pick in the draft(!) I'm not sure if polling this way will exactly work, but hopefully it could give a different perspective on things... (I hope this hasn't been done already! I have looked through past posts, but couldn't find anything exactly like this...)

I totally understand that the Bills really need to get at least 2 starters from the draft, but for the sake of this pole I'm assuming we can only guarantee an immediate starter with #9. If you go with it, it may prove eye opening or thought provoking or debate inspiring. Hey, I can only hope!

I couldn't extend this out to the second or third picks just yet, but if this proves interesting enough, I may give it a go....

Poll
As we HAVE to pass on all but one of our major need areas with our first pick, what scenario would be least damaging to the Bills in 2010?
Pass on a QB, start one of Trent/Brohm/Fitz

Pass on an OT, start Bell
9 votes
Pass on an OLB/rusher, start Schobel/Kelsay/Ellis opposite Maybin (got to assume he's all but a lock to start, right?)

Pass on an NT, start K Williams
