Windy City Gridiron Bates headed to Seattle

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4814933

Jeremy Bates has signed on with Pete Carroll to become the offensive coordinator in Seattle, according to ESPN.com. the article says that Bates was tempted to come to Chicago and be reunited with Cutler but the long term security that Seattle had to offer is what sold him (hard to blame him).

I assume this puts Mike Martz as the official frontrunner for the OC job in Chicago.

what are your thoughts?

Windy City Gridiron Cedric Benson: the Bears miss me

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/bears/1701034,CST-SPT-bside05.article

this guy gets dumber by the day

in this article he states that the Bears made a mistake cutting him (and we all agree)

and says that the Bears "miss him"

he must have an IQ below room temperature

please read this article for a laugh

I personally think he's right, without him we have no team chemistry, a backfield full of question marks, and a team not ready for a postseason run

i wish we had two first round picks to trade to the Bungals for him

Windy City Gridiron Danieal Manning to start at FS

Danieal Manning has been announced as the starting free safety for training camp on the team's website.

The article says that he impressed the Bears brass with his work at nickel back (even when he was torched by Andre Johnson?)

It also says that the move is unrelated with the loss of Tillman to a back injury

Kevin Payne is slated as the starting strong safety and Craig Steltz will replace Manning at FS on nickel defense, while Manning slides over to nickel back

The article is laced with Lovie-isms.

I am not sure about this, then again I am not sure about Steltz starting at FS either.

(Note: the article says that Steltz will challenge Kevin Payne for the SS position.  Steltz is a true SS, so this should be an interesting development during camp)

Windy City Gridiron reason #696959494 why i hate Rick Morrissey

this a great day to be a bears fan, we haven't had many since the super bowl in 2006. of course, you could count on the morons from he chicago tribune to attempt to ruin it for those of us who have waited so long for this day

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-03-morrissey-jay-cutler-bears-chapr03,0,4048493.column

i hate rick morrissey, steven rosenbloom and all the other morons they have writing at the tribune, why can't we actually have someone who is a fan writing about the Bears (or at least someone who is knowledable about football)

what do you think about this article?

how do your thoughts about this trade differ from morrissey's?

let it rain on this idiot

Windy City Gridiron Bye Bye Bryant

the Detroit Lions signed bryant johnson today, as it appears johnson is ok going to football hell

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nflnation?tag=09%20free%20agency

there goes one of our favorite potential FA targets, i hope JA has a plan for the WR position (common sense tells me he doesn't)

housh is still out there but we all know he is very interested in another NFC north counterpart the Minnesota Vikings

what do you think we should do about the WR position?

Windy City Gridiron Larry English

in Mel Kiper's first mock draft he has us taking Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU. a player who's strengths are his size and stopping the run but doesn't ever seem to get to the QB

why would we want him on a team full of guys who couldn't get to the QB?

i recommend us looking in to a player who is a pure pass rusher and stops the run adequately, NIU's very own DE Larry English (6'2 246)

he routinely sacked the QB in his illustrious Huskie career and further strengthening my point is he is having an outstanding week of practice at the senior Bowl (Todd Mcshay has raved about him all week)

we could possibly trade down to get him, collecting another draft pick or 2

what are your thoughts on adding Larry English to our abysmal pass rush?
