According to Dater there's some rumours of a trade between the Avs and Canadiens that would send Clark to the Habs and backup goalie Halak to the Avs. It would be interesting to have Halak and Budaj on the same team as their both Slovaks and have probably played together before, plus he couldn't be worse than Raycroft. And just to fill in words maybe lightning would strike twice and we'd get another all star goalie for very little

Tucker facing suspension?

Daters new blog is primarily about Tucker facing possible suspension for telling Schultz he's going to take out his knees and then clipping him. A stupid thing to do, yes. But will he be suspended for it? Will him being suspended affect the Avs, probably not.

And for anyone like me who was worried when they read the title of his blog, yes he does get a shot in at Budaj, in an article that had nothing to do with the team or the game apart from one brain snap from Tucker.

Dater and Q still got it.

Dater's latest game recap is up and you'll be glad to know, he still can insult Budaj

It would be tough to put the majority of blame for the loss at Budaj's locker. He did make some fine saves, but big rebounds off his pads have been an issue for the young Slovakian.

While he at least acknowledges the difficulties he faces he manages to overcome them and get an insult in, what a guy.

This from his mailbag shows he still loves Theo

They had a goalie who led them into the playoffs last year and stole a first-round series against the division champs. But they let him go (and yes, Jose Theodore critics, I'm aware of his numbers so far in Washington -- not the greatest). But so far, the Avs' goaltending has been extremely erratic.

Surprise, surprise he didn't answer my question about his hatred of Budaj, If i can find it somewhere i'll post it but the gist of it was asking why he always insults the nicest guy on the team, maybe because he won't get called out by Boods on it.

As for the Q bit everyone's wondering about, without further apu here it is.

Coach Joel Quenneville has been alternating Nikolai Khabibulin and Cristobal Huet

Aren't we glad its somone elses problem now.

UPDATE - I never thought i'd say this but Terry Frei now has more of my respect than Dater, all because he manages to defendBoods AND take a subtle shot at Dater.

Making the Slovak goalie, who recently was the No. 2 star for the week in the NHL and showed an admirable resiliency of spirit in the wake of his horrible start, into a culprit every time the Avalanche loses is the easy way out and would be evading other issues. Truly elite goaltending, from the body of work perspective rather than wildly fluctuating judgments based on one or two games, would make the Avalanche's problems seem less glaring. But there are problems, nonetheless.

They've named Luongo as the captain. The guy's a goalie and therfore not allowed to be an official captain and had to put the C on his mask. Have they no normal players who can lead, must they resort to a goalie who isn't really a leader anyway.

Pre-Season Radio

For anyone living in Colorado the Avs website has a list of what radio stations will be broadcasting the pre season games along with some hype for the frozen fury game and a recap and schedule for the pre season.

ON THE AIR: Tonight’s game can be heard in Denver on Mile High Sports Radio AM 1510…All six preseason games plus all 82 regular season contests can be heard on AM 1510…There will be no television for the preseason, as Altitude Sports & Entertainment will begin its television coverage of the Avalanche on Oct. 12 at Edmonton…Below is a list of the stations in addition to AM 1510 that will be carrying the Avs’ preseason games:

KRCN 1060 AM Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland, and Boulder, CO
KVLE 610 AM Vail, CO
KSKE 1450 AM Buena Vista and Salida, CO
KKKK 1580 AM Colorado Springs and Pueblo, CO
KVLE 102.3 FM Gunnison, CO
KVLE 93.5 FM Crested Butte and Monarch, CO

Interestingly enough it says that Altitude will start showing the regular season from Oct 12 against Edmonton. Don't the Avs start the season against the Bruins. Why isn't Altitude showing the season opener?

The Hockey News has just published their NHL logo rankings and like everything to do with logo's it's completely screwed up. The top 10 is as follows

1. Chicago

2. Detroit

3. Montreal

4. Boston

5. St. Louis

6. Philadelphia

7. Minnesota

8. San Jose

9. Pittsburgh

10. Toronto

Meanwhile the Avs, widely regarded as one of the best looking logo's is down at 19. The reason,

Much like New Jersey, it’s fairly right-on-the-nose; it’s an Avalanche coming down an ‘A.’

Yes, it is. It's also a simple yet complex logo, on first look it is just an avalanche coming down an A, but if you look closer you'll notice the puck leading it and what appears to be the profile of a face in the snow at the bottom.

How this logo is worse than the Flyers i'll never know, It's a fucking P, how is that worthy of 6th best.

Don't even get me started on the Dead Wings, thats been beaten to death. The Blackhawks logo isn't that good either, neither is St Louis, or the Bruins.

If you're going to rank team logos on look then rank only on look, not how old it is or it's heritage or any other crap that doesn't matter.
