Mike Mayock said on the NFL Netorok that he thinks if a team takes Connor Barwin in the second round or higher, that they will be taking him as a tight end because he would provide immediate impact there. He says he's 2-3 years away at DE-rush Linebacker

Browns release RT Kevin Shaffer

Browns have released their starting right tackle to free up some salary cap space.

http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/03/12/browns-cut-shaffer/

Shaffer has only missed two starts in the last 5 years and is only 29 years old. I think he is defentely worth a look by the Chiefs. The Browns have a pretty capable guy replacing him in Ryan Tucker so it's not like he's terrible or anything. He also looks liek Goldberg so thats always a plus.

Crennel to work for free?

Romeo Crennel could be reluctant to take a coaching job because he would essentially be working for free with Kansas City, since his buyout from the Browns would be reduced by any money he earns in KC. Plus, he's recovering from hip surgery. He has already turned down the chance to work with Charlie Weis at Notre Dame. This guy would be a legit Defensive Coordinator for us.

Crabtree getting foot surgery

Crabtrees not gonna be running his 40 at his pro day, opting to get surgery on his left foot.

http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/03/01/texas-techs-crabtree-opts-for-surgery-on-left-foot/

This is probably a good idea for him. Nobody really cares about his 40 time anyways. He'll defentely be ready for training camp. Could be tempting to take Crabtree at pick #3 to help Cassel out, but Pioli is too smart to take a receiver this high
