Not really Chiefs related but its big news nonethless. I'm from Toronto so this would be awesome to go see NFL games without having to drive to Buffalo.

Arrowhead Pride Chiefs Mock Draft 1/11/10

Free Agency: For this mock I'm going to assume Chiefs sign a big time offensive lineman (Marcus McNeil, Donald Penn, Logan Mankins, Eugene Amano)

Round 1-Pick 5- Eric Berry S Tennessee- Lights out defensive playmaker that we need so badly. The most hyped safety in years looks like a star in the making. Other options: Russell Okung OT, Rolando McClain ILB

Round 2-Pick 4- Dan Williams NT Tennessee- Alright alright, we get our big nose tackle to round out our expensive D-line. Williams looks like he'll be a decent starter for a long time.

Round 2-Pick 19- Kristopher O'Dowd C USC- If we sign a tackle, then Albert will move to RG, and O'Dowd will probably start at center from day one. If we sign a guard like Mankins, then that would probably mean Waters moves to center. In that case, this pick would change to Jason Fox, Tackle, Miami.

Round 3-Pick 5- Darryl Washington ILB TCU- Had a great senior season and a great bowl game against Boise State, could even get up into the second round.

Round 4-Pick 4- Jordan Shipley WR Texas- Alright Lance Long is probably not going to work out as our 'Wes Welker'. Enter Jordan Shipley. He's got great hands and should be a good possession receiver in the NFL.

Round 5-Pick 5- Cameron Sheffield OLB Troy- Had a good season as a DE with 10 TFL and 6.5 sacks. He could run in the 4.6's at the combine.

Round 5-Pick 12- Alterraun Verner CB UCLA- Had a big senior year with 71 tackles and 5 picks. We definetely need secondary help. Minus Flowers we don't really have a promising corner.

Round 5-Pick 17- LeRoy Vann KR Florida A&M- Has 11 TDs off KR/PR in the past two seasons. I don't think Lawrence is going to be that effective as a returner. Charles was great but he'll be busy breaking rushing records.

Mike Mayock said on the NFL Netorok that he thinks if a team takes Connor Barwin in the second round or higher, that they will be taking him as a tight end because he would provide immediate impact there. He says he's 2-3 years away at DE-rush Linebacker

Northern Illinois defensive end/outside linebacker Larry English will visit the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs and the St. Louis Rams next week, according to Albert Breer of SportingNews.com.

Arrowhead Pride Browns release RT Kevin Shaffer

Browns have released their starting right tackle to free up some salary cap space.

http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/03/12/browns-cut-shaffer/

Shaffer has only missed two starts in the last 5 years and is only 29 years old. I think he is defentely worth a look by the Chiefs. The Browns have a pretty capable guy replacing him in Ryan Tucker so it's not like he's terrible or anything. He also looks liek Goldberg so thats always a plus.

Arrowhead Pride Crennel to work for free?

Romeo Crennel could be reluctant to take a coaching job because he would essentially be working for free with Kansas City, since his buyout from the Browns would be reduced by any money he earns in KC. Plus, he's recovering from hip surgery. He has already turned down the chance to work with Charlie Weis at Notre Dame. This guy would be a legit Defensive Coordinator for us.

Arrowhead Pride Crabtree getting foot surgery

Crabtrees not gonna be running his 40 at his pro day, opting to get surgery on his left foot.

http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/03/01/texas-techs-crabtree-opts-for-surgery-on-left-foot/

This is probably a good idea for him. Nobody really cares about his 40 time anyways. He'll defentely be ready for training camp. Could be tempting to take Crabtree at pick #3 to help Cassel out, but Pioli is too smart to take a receiver this high

Rosenthal is saying the Brtaves have checked in on Garrett Anderson, Luis Gonzalez, Jim Edmonds, and Ken Griffey. A Swisher trade is still possible. Griffey seems like hes going to the Mariners though.

Who knows how much interest the Braves actually had, but I guess we're focusing on Swisher
