Verlander Wins AL MVP
Cy Young Justin Verlander also takes home the AL MVP award
Greinke's xFIP differential
RotoGraphs article addressing the unluckiest pitchers of 2011 based on the differential between xFIP and their ERA.
Fausto Carmona is listed as #1 with a 1.79 difference, I thought it was worth noting that after last nights game I for kicks calculated Zack Greinke's xFIP differential as 3.54 (5.69-2.15) almost double Carmona's. Greinke is not listed in this article because he hasn't met the minimum innings requirement yet this season, but what are the odds we're watching one of the unluckiest seasons a MLB pitcher has ever had? His xFIP is nearly a run better this year than in his Cy Young season, yet his ERA is over 3 runs higher.

Hoffman Deal Done
MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers have agreed to terms with free-agent closer Trevor Hoffman, acquiring the former Padres right-hander who's the all-time leader with 554 saves, his agent, Rick Thurman told MLB.com in a text message on Thursday morning.
Posted on Brewers.com as of 10:43am, much like KLSnow I'm happy the Brewers have done something about our ninth inning but am still much more concerned about improving our starting rotation. Although I'm looking forward to hearing "For whom the bell tolls" on Opening Day
Game 1 Lineup announced
- Mike Cameron CF
- Bill Hall 3B
- Ryan Braun LF
- Prince Fielder 1B
- JJ Hardy SS
- Corey Hart RF
- Rickie Weeks 2B
- Jason Kendall C
- Yovani Gallardo P
I'm not sure what Sveum's affection to Corey Hart is lately, I think the guy needs a day off, how many crushing bases loades strikeouts must we endure!!! That said GO GALLARDO!! GO BREWERS!! Let's jump out on top in this series, I want to clinch this thing this weekend!!
Yost-proofed is an Impossible Goal
Julian Taveras does not have his good stuff, 12 year-old kids in the stands are asking "Why can he not throw strikes?" He squeezes out of a bases loaded jam in the 11th somehow striking out the top two in the Twins line-up, just in time for our offense to go 1,2,3 in the bottom half. Then my worst fears are realized when Taveras trots out of the dugout in the 12th and all 4 of our available relievers are sitting in the bullpen coats on, flicking seeds!! Someone play good-cop, bad-cop with me here and explain how the hell Yost can possibly trot him out there and give him the inning after what happened in the 11th.
The Fastest Mental Break in MLB History, Gagne says he's ready to close again
Gagne, backing up Ned's persistance in him
Just read an article on JSOnline. They interviewed Eric Gagne following todays game, and while Ned Yost continues to sit and wait because he doesn't make decisions following tough losses, it appears Gagne is suggesting the move for our thick-headed skipper.
"I don't deserve that ninth inning right now. It's very simple," said Gagne, who surrendered two ninth-inning runs that allowed St. Louis to pull out a 5-3 victory at Miller Park.
How can you continue with a guy in the 9th, after he admits he doesn't even believe he can get it done?
