John Breech is reporting that we've picked up a commit for 2013 from 4-star QB Jared Goff from Marin Catholic.

Editor update: CGB will have more on Goff soon enough.

Four star recruit out of Washington choose the Bears over Oregon, UW, ASU and others. WOOOOO!

Now all that money they paid Willie Lyles was really a waste. No actual recruiting video and no Lache either. Seastrunk was granted his unconditional release today.

Vote on the Facebook UC Berkeley page for which of the "What do you see? UC Berkeley" promos you want to run for football and both men's and women's basketball this year.

California Golden Blogs DBD 03.28.11 When things went all Sacramento!

Remember Dorothea Puente, the little old lady who killed her elderly tenants for their social security checks and buried them in her Sacramento! backyard? Well, she died today in prison, which got me to thinking. I was obsessed with that case. It happened my senior year of college, when I was busily not going to class and not doing any homework (D is for degree!), so I had plenty of time to follow along. How many bodies would they find? How much money did she get? How did the neighbors not notice that something was awry? Doesn't an old lady digging graves in a yard raise some sort of neighborhood watch alarm? Was she crazy or evil or both? I wanted answers, and I wanted them immediately.

California Golden Blogs DBD 3.3.11 What's the Dastardly Tiger Doing?

This photo is from last year's Masters, and I do not know how it escaped my notice before. I saw it today in a collection of great sports photos from 2010.

All it made me think was, "I wonder who's BootyTexting Tiger now?"

Now, you all are a clever lot. Please use the comments to tell us what exactly is holding Tiger's interest on his iPhone. Thank you very much.

Interesting thread popped up on CJ Moncrease's twitter today alleging that Al Simmons has been fired. Anybody able to verify or deny?

Mike Montgomery was in Indianapolis on Friday to talk to the NCAA Committee on Infractions about some alleged improper phone calls, allegedly involving Max Zhang.

We've apparently self-imposed some undisclosed sanctions. Yay. :-((

California Golden Blogs DBD 11.24.10 Save a Turkey; Eat Like a Pig

It’s almost Thanksgiving, folks! All hail the national day of sloth, football and pigging out. There has been a bit of discussion around these parts of what to serve on the big day, so I thought I’d let you know what we’re whipping up Chez Scootie, where we are eating this year at the godforsaken time of NOON, due to Scootie’s niece and nephew having to play in a hockey tournament at 4:30PM. (Who in the f**k has such upside down priorities that they think scheduling young children for competitive "recreational" sports on a national holiday is a good idea?)

Now, Chez Scootie we don’t worry about Bad Things in our Thanksgiving food. On the fourth Thursday in November, we don’t fret about carcinogens or transfats and whether saturated or unsaturated fat will kill you first, we don’t stress about sodium levels or the evils of high fructose corn syrup, we welcome e-numbers and red dye #2 into our lives (the more the merrier!) to join the party with the bad cholesterol and arterial plaque. Come one, come all, everyone’s welcome here. Let’s give thanks!

California Golden Blogs DBD 9.22.10 2010 Golden Bear Football: The Cougars Weigh In

A few months back, Since1997 presented an introduction to BAM in an effort to build increased communication and understanding between the sexes. We feel that you may now be ready for a more focused study, a quick look at our 2010 California Golden Bear football team.

Those 1898 Bears were particularly dreamy. Let's see if 2010 can live up to the legacy.

A number of people have figured out over the past few months that Since1997 and Scootie have quite different taste in hunks hotties playas dreamboats men. It is hoped that by having a co-authored study, the CGB community will gain increased understanding into the varying factors and the relative weightings that can contribute to the BAM equation under disparate circumstances.

California Golden Blogs DBD 8.13.10 Aaron Rodgers: Superhero

We all know Aaron Rodgers is a god amongst men, but did you know he's also a genuine hero to small children?

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel has a heartwarming story about Aaron Rodgers, 13-year-old Anna Schmidt, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

via media.jsonline.com

Last week, Aaron Rodgers and Al Harris went to the practice field and taped a message for Anna Schmidt: the quarterback and cornerback were going to make her wishes come true through the Make-A-Wish Foundation and invite her to a Green Bay Packers practice. The Packers put the message on a DVD disc, put the iconic ‘G’ symbol on the front and sent it to ESPN, which forwarded it to the Schmidt family.

When she got it, the girl broke in to tears. The Packers had no idea how far this girl had come, but they would soon find out.
