Five Alabama Athletics Programs Earn NCAA APR Award

This is very impressive and as an alumni this pleases me as much as any championship. In fact, I believe this makes our recent run of athletics success even more impressive. Our beloved Tide is...

Mal Moore Hospitalized

+

AD Mal Moore admitted to a hospital in Birmingham for pulmonary problems. Best wishes and get well to Coach Moore. Coach has been associated with Alabama athletics for 50 of his 73 years. The man who has overseen one of the largest capital investment programs in Crimson Tide athletics history and has led the athletic department to unprecidented success. Let's hope he pulls through.

Passing of Another Great of the Game

+

College football has lost another great one. Although Texas earned my eternal loathing after coming across some of their "fans" in LA a few years back, I always had a great deal of respect for Coach Royal and all he meant to the game. And, oh yeah, he had a little something to do with Coach Bryant adopting the wishbone that led to a decade of dominance.

New UA President named

+

Big shoes to fill Dr. Bailey. Really big shoes.

Back to Back

2

Sara Patterson and the Tide gymnasts do it again. She has now matched Coach Bryant's championship count while at the University. Honestly, is there any argument against putting her statue outside Coleman?

A Competitor to the Worldwide Leader?

4

I'm not a big Rupert Murdoch guy but if NewsCorp (or NBCSports, etc.) can provide serious competition the ESPN will it change anything? Easy answer is: more competition, more money. What other affects will this have on sports, particularly on the college level?

SEC loses another legend

2

We have lost another great one. Always proud to be labeled a "homer", Munson single handedly reintroduced all SEC fans to the Hob Nailed Boot.

Perkins was major force in developing Weiss' offense

2

Very interesting. I was there for the Perkins years but, shamefully, know little about the man other than his time at the Capstone - player & coach. He was more of an influence/innovator than I realized.

Mark Cuban wants to "help" CFB

2

I give the guy credit for trying to come up with creative ways to have a playoff without calling it a playoff. However, the fact that the braintrust at SI chose to use a photo of Cousins with this caption: "Kirk Cousins and Michigan State could have improved their BCS chances last season by playing in an additional late-season game." is completely laughable. How does this strengthen or support in any way the argument for Cuban's idea? The caption would be more appropriate as: "Under Cuban's plan, this guy would have led his hapless and over-rated team into a beating by someone other than Alabama. That would have at least saved them some embarrasment - maybe."

Serious Basketball Schedule Upgrade

1

Grant continues his version of The Process. Some marquee names on that OOC schedule.

UNC Fires Davis

7

Interesting timing. Wonder why UNC waited so long?

Cheating for Dummies

2

Is there any real doubt that there will be some major rules changes in an attempt to clean up these scandals. Now it has become comedy fodder. And by the way, I am quite sure that this article was penned by an AU booster and not Andy Staples. Plagiarism I say!

Coach Bryant, Rev. Croom, Clee Greene, Terry Jones and a story of hope

+

One of the more inspiring stories I have read about the recent events.

Happy Birthday To...

The Greatest Cartoon Character EVER

TSN's Dave Curtis opines on the state of our favorite sport

+

Not sure he really brings anything new to the table but... Continuing exasperated editorials by the national media may mean the NCAA actually starts doing their job. Could all of this portend major changes in CFB - I doubt it but certainly it has to spur some action (not this particular article, just the general uproar).

Alabama's Luther Davis Finds 'Positive Energy' in Preparation Work for NFL

+

Would love to see another one of our guys get a shot. I don't really follow the draft and such so it is pretty revealing to read about the prep work that some of these guys go through just for a potential shot.

Some of the greatest coach quotes of all time.

+

How this guy was not coaching in the south is beyond me. You will never be able to convince me he wasn't born and raised somewhere along the backroads of Alabama.

Starting offensive line is back together

+

In Chase's NOTEBOOK today, I see one real bright spot for the bowl game. Winning typically begins and ends at the point of attack. Having everyone healthy and together again for the first time since the UF game bodes well methinks.

CFB 2010 - A Mad, Mad World

Long about late October, I began to have misgivings about college football, v.2010.  “Something is amiss”, I thought.  “This just does not feel right”, my gut was telling me.  Sure, my beloved...

Bowden vs Stallings matchup announced

+

Coach Stallings will coach one side while Coach Bowden will lead the other in a flag game between service members overseas.

Gene Stallings salute at halftime of Alabama-Florida

1

Richly deserved honor for a link to Bama's past glories. And one of the most genuine, honest people you will ever encounter.

Love the desire to contribute but hope he is ready to contribute.
