"Next time you order breakfast at a Marriott, you may notice something new about the bacon. Instead of being served in identical six-inch strips, it now comes in an assortment of sizes. That's because senior executives of Marriott, after sampling four or five varieties of bacon in a blind taste test, found that an irregular cut, which costs less, tastes just as good as the rectangular slices traditionally served in the company's hotels."

Eating Habits

SI discusses what a couple athletes have done to improve their health after their CFB days are over. Linked to it mainly b/c it mentions that PSU was one of the first (maybe the first?) D1 program to hire a nutritionist (in 1991). Apparently, to this day, not many D1 programs have a full time nutritionist on hand, which is surprising.

"A few other Division I schools use similar systems, but no more than two dozen athletic departments employ full-time nutritionists. Kristine Clark, a registered dietician whom Penn State hired as its director of sports nutrition in 1991, believes she was the first. "

Eagles' Biggest Rival

Forgive me if this has been posted already, but I recently noticed polls on Blogging the Boys and Big Blue View asking their fans who they thought was their biggest rival. The Eagles are first in both polls. Depending on the time period it's always been a toss up, for me at least, between these two teams as our main rival.

I, personally, think of the G'nats as our biggest rival due to the proximity and the back-n-forth history these teams have had the last decade. However, I'm usually in the minority when discussing this with other fans, as they all despise the Cowgirls a little more. And that Washington team, although they're frustrating and had our number, especially the last few years, is just "Meh" to me.

So, what do you think? If you had to choose one, who would it be?

Penn State: A Destination Job

SI's Andy Staples calls PSU a destination job, one of the most attractive and desirable jobs in College Football.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/andy_staples/02/23/destination-jobs/2.html

As you can expect, this list consists of the traditional powers of CFB. Initially I was a little surprised that Georgia made the list over Tennessee, although after thinking about UT's poor record last year and their lack of a big-time name in the coaching search this year, it makes sense.

Cameron Wake, formerly known as Derek Wake. Apparently he's been wreaking havoc in the CFL and a few NFL teams are giving him a look. I'm glad to see that's he's doing great up north, would like to see him get another shot at the NFL. This guy was a beast when he was on the field for Penn State.
