Double Standard Sando
Has anyone noticed the crap Sando publishs sometimes? He is at it again. If you go to his blog on ESPN he goes from talking about how the Seahawks were to easy on the Chargers and didn't submit any counter offers to how it is ok for the Cards to overpay for Joey Porter. I am not saying the Seahawks shouldn't have counter offered but Sando's double standards need to go! Here is the link below:
Trade Hass Now?
Does anyone else think we should trade Hasselbeck now? Don't get me wrong, I love everything Hass has done for this franchise, but I for one think it is time to move on. Give him a shot somewhere else. Unless we turn in to the first half of 2009 Broncos, I don't see us seriously competing within the next two years. However, I think if we trade Hass now and get a mid round pick or two in return it may help us compete sooner. Bottom line, we don't have enough time to build around Hass, he doesn't have that many years left (If he even has anything left now). It would be better to cut ties with him now and build from scratch. I would hate to build around him and get good just in time for him to retire and then the rest of team would have to build around a new QB again. It would be better to start now.
I may be on an Island here but I like the Whitehurst trade. I think we may have been able to lower the price a bit after the Cardinals took Anderson and the only real competition for Whurst was out of the picture, but I think he has the intangibles it takes to be a good QB. I also think this frees us up a bit to re-look a trade for Marshall. John mentioned in one of his pieces that if we were to take Marshall now he would be out of his prime before our quarterback of the future hit his stride. With Whurst here now why don't we trade for him and let the two create a chemistry that could lead to something special.
I am looking forward to next year because for the first time in five years we actually have some substantial change to look forward too, many unknowns. 2005 was our lone incredible year, every year since then has been rather status quo. I know we made the playoffs the next two years after the superbowl run but that was more a tribute to the other teams in our division and not us. I think with a strong armed QB and possibly a game changing WR, and a new attitude other than status quo within the franchise, we have some bright days ahead. My only wish is the rest of the fanbase can take a step back and try not to get so bent out of shape and look at this thing as a glass half empty.
Oh yeah... If I had two wishes, I would wish the Tapp trade never happened! Other than that though the glass is half full!
New Recievers?
My landlord's son (Michael Gasperson) played for the Eagles for the last two years before he was recently cut at the end of the pre-season. The Seahawks had him in for a try-out yesterday. Does anyone else have any inside scoop on any other players the Seahawks may be trying out this week?
I did read an article yesterday that mentioned the Seahawks had some other players come in to try-out as a punt returner. Does anyone have any further details regarding any of these matters?
