Looks like Maybin signed
The NFL 2009 1st draft pick signing status page was updated with Maybin having a 5 year deal, no info on contract details. So then there were two. Hopefully this speeds up Smith and in turn Crabtree, as I assume he will be the last to sign.

Sources are telling the JSonline.com that Boston College defensive tackle B.J. Raji has signed a five-year deal with $18 million up front. Raji was the ninth player drafted, which should provide a basis for Michael Crabree's deal with the 49ers; Crabtree was taken no. 10. The deal is not good news for the Crabtree camp, who want top five money.
Lynch at SF Gate is reporting that someone else is reporting that BJ has signed... the quicker everyone else signs, the more pressure on Crabtree.

WOW!!! 3 years, $45 million
Nnamdi Asomugha reportedly just became the highest paid NFL player (by yearly average) signing a 3 year, 45 million dollar contract. The first two years, $28.5 mil, fully guaranteed!
Are the raiders planning on having him play all 4 DB positions at the same time?

DE/OLB with the 1st round pick
Over the past few weeks, I've read a lot about the Niners going after a 4-3 DE in the 1st round and converting him to a pass rushing OLB. Everette Brown is a recent favorite, but people have gone through the whole list. Brian Orakpo, Michael Johnson, Aaron Maybin and Larry English have all popped up, amongst others. Maybe I just haven't paid to much attention in the past, but is this a proven way of getting good OLBs? I know Dallas's Ware was a DE in college, but is it really that common that people want to use a #10 pick on a guy who might not adjust to a new position well.
I guess I'm just not completely sold on the fact that A) we need to upgrade at OLB and B) that the OLB position is the problem with the pass rush, and not the DLine. So I'm just wondering why people feel some of these guys will actually do better than who is already on the roster or can be drafted later.
And for the DE to OLB type of player, I got a guy in mind. 6-5, 240. His senior year he had 58 tackles, 21 QB pressures, 4 deflections, 10.5 sacks, 19.5 tfl and 14 hurries. And he wouldn't cost a #10. Sound good? (Anyone know who I'm talkin about?)

The Lions.... really?!?!
According to ESPN Linehan is going to be OC for the Lions. WTF mate? He likes the situation there better? I can't wait till we play them next year. I don't know, maybe he likes Stafford and wants to work with him. Either way, I'm with Fooch, don't insult us with the personal reasons crap. Not to mention he's moving his family to the Murder Capital of the US, if I remember correctly. Eh, what ever, he's not worth the effort to get worked up over.
