Is BON Admitting The Evil Empire Is Collapsing?

1

A thought I've been keeping under wraps all season long: Yes, Bevo won the battle on the field against Nebraska, but, after all is said and done, we may end up winning the war. Bevo is about to learn something we found out during the dreaded Callahan era; nothing's forever. Glory is fleeting.

At this point, we might as well get a sense of humor. Funny stuff from Bigrednetwork.

Pray For Dan Young

Just read in the Lincoln Journal-Star that former Husker assistant coach Dan Young has a cancerous brain tumor and it is inoperable. Milt Tenopir said "I just have a big 'ol heartache for him." Husker Nation feels the same way. Pray for Coach Young.

More hackery from St. Louis Post-Dispatch jerkwagon Bernie Miklasz. Check out these nuggets: --"And the game officials were stunningly incompetent in their failure to penalize at least two blatant cheap shots against Gabbert. One was a helmet-to-helmet intent to injure, the other a Stevie-Wonder-Could-See-It facemask." --" In addition to failing to police the cheap shots on Gabbert, the officials missed two obvious pass-interference calls on Nebraska. One was particularly notable because it occured just shy of the end zone. The pass likely would have resulted in a TD that would have cut the Nebraska lead to 24-14 at the half." --"I don't care if Gabbert is 0-2 against Nebraska. He made the right decision to go to Missouri. Nebraska fans are generally classy, but some of the knuckleheads are out there already, trashing Gabbert on Internet boards. Why? Because he wasn't sure about Bill Callahan as the Callahan regime began to collapse at Nebraska? Because Gabbert wasn't sure about Nebraska's plans for a coach? Why would any sane person expect Gabbert to commit to chaos? If Nebraska fans didn't want Callahan to stay as the coach, then why would they expect Gabbert to reaffirm his commitment to a coach that Cornhusker fans couldn't wait to fire? The double standard is laughable. One chucklehead wrote to me, and, with immense satisfaction, pointed out that Gabbert and Josh Freeman were unable to beat Nebraska in five tries between them. (Both declined to sign with Nebraska after giving an oral commitment.) I don't think Freeman or Gabbert are losing any sleep. Freeman went to Kansas State and later became a first-round NFL draft choice in 2009; Tampa Bay gave him a $25 million contract. Freeman is off to a good start as the Bucs' quarterback. He already commands considerable respect in the league. Gabbert will likely be a No. 1 draft pick whenever he chooses to enters the draft. He'll make millions of dollars in guaranteed money. And when's the last time a Nebraska quarterback was anything more than a laughingstock (or a safety or wide receiver) at the NFL level? Vince Ferragamo? Freeman and Gabbert and Nebraska have one thing in common: I don't see any national championships, or Big 12 championships, from any of the parties over the pertinent time frame. Kids should play where they want to play. Just like the three St. Louis area high schoolers who are playing at Nebraska now. It's been good for them. They're happy. And I'm happy for them. I wish 'em nothing but the best. There are few things more pathetic than adult-male fanboys of a college program (any program) who tie their self-esteem to the exploits of teenage football players and where those teens decide to play football. It's creepy."

St. Louis Post-Dispatch Hack's Hit Piece On Huskers

"This one has the grudge-match feel. Nebraska bolted the Big 12 Conference for the Big Ten Conference in a brazen money grab, and NU's president took some shots at Missouri as he reached for the loot." --Bernie Miklasz, St. Louis Post-Dispatch He talks this smack after Mizzery had been making goo-goo eyes at the Big Ten for years? I quote Chad Ochocinco: "Child, please."

The company I work for had their big annual banquet on Oct. 1. Among the festivities was a tour of the football facilities. I could even take my own version of the Tunnel Walk. I literally start at the locker room doors and go all the way to the field. There was no music, but the experience still gets your Big Red blood pumping!!
