Dog Days of Summer?
Hey guys...
Do you know if the padres are doing this promotion for 2008?
You know when approved pets can go to the game etc. I can't seem to find any information on it, with only an exception in the animals policy in the rules. So i have a feeling they still do it, don't know. Perhaps I should email Padres PR or something... get an answer some way or another.
have any of you taken part in this? bring your dog to petco for a game?

Weekend's Angels Exhibition
Who's going to see the Angles and Pads go at in the Special 'Southern California Exhibition' game on Friday and Saturday? I've got tickets for Friday (standard season tickets) but am debating the Anahiem game...

OMBAC OTL...
This weekend I roasted in the sun with thousands of other Over The Line fans on Fiesta Island. Our team did better then previous years finishing with a 3-2 record, and trying to keep score after a 36er.
With a large padre support group, or should I say guys in hats, I was wondering how many GLB members made it out to the weekend's festivities?
I was thinking perhaps GLB should be able to field a few teams next year. There were plenty of teams with '@ The Local' or '@ the Silver Fox', so why not some '@ Gaslamp Ball'?
A few names i came up with...

Is the Petco too accommodating?
The allstar break has really slowed things around here, so I got to thinking...
Over the years I have visited a few parks. I typically take a trip up to Angles Stadium and the Latrine. While on enemy grounds I always take a peak at the merchandise the home team is trying to sell to their sheep, while I mock the size of their stores.
But there is one thing I consistently have noticed. You go to the home team's stores, you won't find merchandise from any other team.
Specifically I asked a Dodger Store employee where the padre stuff is? She said that they don't sell loosing team gear... to which i simply pointed out the padres sweep of the dirt bags the last series, and she asked me to leave. LOL
But when you go into Petco Park's Team store you will find caps representing the majority of the major market teams, as well as some t-shirts for the team they are playing. These are generally right in the middle of the store for all to see.
Does this seem odd to you? Its not like not selling these wares will prevent those CY hating cubbie fans from showing up, but... perhaps we are being too friendly to the opposing team?
Thoughts... Opinions?

GLB on an iPhone
Just in case some of you were curious...

Twitter doesn't work (no flash support), but it looks good. Came close to posting from the dodger game Saturday, but poor LA edge network made it unbearable.
And yes I was one of those souls in front of the AT&T store downtown on Friday. I can't wait to run it through some extensive testing at Petco.

In Search of a Song...
So during Friday's Retro nights, they played a old 80's Padre song during one of their scoreboard presentations. I don't have the strongest memory in the world so I can even hum a few bars from the song for you, but was hoping someone around here could sing it for me.
Does anyone know where one could find this song or more about it?
It kinda reminds me of the good ol San Diego Super Chargers song, but obviously not used as often.

Bochy the All-Star
So Bruce Bochy was picked as a coach for the NL All-Star team. He was selected along with Willie Randolph of the Mets.
This must be based on his 2006 managerial experience with the Pads and can not reflect the 11.5 back Giants.

Did the Pirate's Parrot get Wacked...
Never saw a Soprano's episode but I've always a fan of ball clubs interjecting pop-culture into their productions. Napolean Dynamite All-Star Ballots, Star Wars Attack sequence. All Good.
I think the Pirates may have raised the level though:

Padres @ Dodgers - End of June
So is anyone going to this game?
I went to the latrine once last year, to see the Padres treat the place like a driving range. While wandering the place, some random Padre fan gave me and a buddy a pair of Shillelaghs for the game. Never got to thank him formally but, they must of worked.
Anyhow... I am returning, for a bachelor party and will bring the shellelaghs with me. It looks to be the makings of another good series.

ESPN Power Rankings
I don't know about you, but I love reading power rankings. I love them even more when the padres are in the top 10. Today... I don't know what to do with my self.
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/powerranking?season=2007&week=10
This Week: 1
Last Week: 4
Padres 36-23
There's no place like home. Chris Young has a 0.52 ERA with a .164 BAA at Petco Park.
