Preview: That School Down South

This one's for everything. Michigan vs Ohio Preview.

Some Psychology Behind Penn State's Reactions

Interesting stuff from TPG. BIRG-ing seems pretty common.

Recap: Michigan Downs Illinois, 31-14

Michigan beats Illinois. Come check out the links, recap, and more at MnB.

In Which I Empathize with Penn State Fans

(edit: fixed grammar on poll) I'm going to ignore the fact that Joe Paterno has just been ousted as the Penn State head coach, along with basically the entire administration, just for a second....

End of an Era: Joe Paterno Out as Penn State Head Coach

Via ESPN2, Joe Paterno has officially "resigned" immediately as head coach of Penn State's football program after 46 years, along with president Graham Spainer. This comes in the wake of a massive sex scandal involving former assistant Jerry Sandusky. The allegations are incredibly sick, and I won't recap them here, but we're looking at a massive overhaul in yet another storied B1G program here, folks.

Mitch McGary Goes Blue

This is HUGE for John Beilein and the future of Michigan basketball. Everyone has been saying that Beilein is a scary coach who didn't quite have the talent available to him. Now he does. Welcome to the #2 recruit in the country, Mitch McGary. He is a large human being and will be a very, very good player for the Wolverines the instant he gets to campus. Get stoked. Thanks to UMHoops for the break.

Your Friday Drinking Instructions Are Getting Excited

I had a dream today. Four score and seven months ago, our forefathers played football. When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for one fanbase to intravenously inject beer until...

Pipkins Among Big Movers Into Rivals 100

Glad to see the big man getting some more big hype. Clearly the Michigan offer is what did it. From Rivals: "Pipkins was impressive when we saw him at the U.S. Army Junior Combine in January, but he had trimmed some of the bad weight by the time he showed up at the Ohio State NIKE Camp and looked to be in much better shape," said Helmholdt of the 6-foot-3, 325-pounder from Kansas City (Mo.) Park Hill who is committed to Michigan. "He is explosive off the snap and once he gets that big frame moving up field offensive linemen have trouble slowing him down. Pipkins uses his hands well and is a potent combination of quickness, power and technique." "Pipkins has added some muscle since the U.S. Army Combine in January," Perroni agreed. "He has an extremely strong lower body and uses it to overpower most opposing offensive linemen. He proved that he can play the pass just as well as he stuffs the run on film."

In Which We Talk Beer: Crowdsourcing

Let's talk beer.

Maize n Preview: Eastern Michigan, but mostly about IPAs

Michigan. Eastern. One's a school, the other is a directional prefix.

Maize n Preview: Notre Dame

The Irish come to town for a night game. Let 'em.

Maize n Preview: Western Michigan

Michigan opens their season against Western. The preview is here.

Stonum Gets 2 Years Probation

Via the AP, it seems that Michigan WR Darryl Stonum has received two years of probation stemming from an arrest for driving while impaired. Hopefully Darryl can put this behind him and move on with his life as he works toward a degree from the University of Michigan. Sadly, he's had probation issues in the past - but we're all rooting for him to take the necessary steps to continue toward a bright future.

SI Investigation Report Published

Sorry to cut Dave short, but the new Sports Illustrated piece on the OSU scandals by Pulitzer winner George Dohrmann just broke. Check it out immediately. Dohrmann has a long and impressive track record, and his piece is incredible.

Terry Richardson Commits to Michigan

This one shouldn't surprise anyone, but Terry Richardson, a four-star CB prospect out of Cass Tech, has announced his intentions to play for the Maize and Blue. Michigan needed a solid corner in this class, and they got one - Richardson's offer sheet is impressive. I'm not going to beat a dead horse about size, but he is fairly smallish - Cass Tech seems to pump out kids like this though, and the kid's got game. Don't take my word for it, check out Magnus's take over at Touch The Banner. Welcome to the Michigan Family, Terry. All the best.

Your Friday Drinking Instructions are Getting Classy Real Quick

Not to preempt Magnus's excellent post about recruiting (read it below) but it's Friday, and you all know what that means: a semi-occasional instruction from the site about what to drink....

Michigan Clearly The Best: Helmets FTW

Clearly, rivals has decided to give Michigan their due for having the best helmets on the face of the planet. If you haven't done so, check out The Helmet Project at http://www.nationalchamps.net/Helmet_Project/ It's a pretty cool project, done thanks to some exhaustive research. I will no longer listen to Dienhart or Hueguenin, because let's face it, they don't know overwhelming greatness when they see it.

Holy Moses! Your Friday (Weekend) Drinking Instructions Took a Siesta!
