Is this a better opportunity for us over Wallace? He is younger, and will likely be at least a little bit cheaper. I know that it will cost us a first round pick, but is it worth it?

I have decided to go on a little rant to express some of my thoughts and feelings about this off season so far.

To begin with, being realistic is something that I have always prided myself on. Even my absurd and often misguided confidence in this team still holds a place in my reality. I try to remain level headed and consider multiple factors when I start to dissect players stats, attributes, productivity, and other information. So when I read about many predictions, wish list, and otherwise unrealistic expectations; I start to become concerned about the state of the typical NFL fan.

Free Agents!!!!!! Lets talk about free agents for a second. When we collectively look at our team, each one of us sees different strengths and different weaknesses. What one may view as a strength (run game), others may see that as a shortcoming. Despite Reggie Bush averaging almost 5 yards a carry for us, all of the sudden he is replaceable with Lamar Miller? So we let Bush walk because he wants a little more money and has been the second most productive RB for us over the past decade? I don't get it. I agree that we do not sell out to retain his services and that he is somewhat replaceable if the price is too steep, but is there anyone among us who truly believe that our team will be better without him? A better open minded offensive coordinator would find a way to utilize each and every strength that Bush has and will work to not expose his weaknesses. That's coaching.

More Free Agent talk..... Lets let Brian Hartline walk because he wants to make more money!!!! Absurd!!! He is white for god's sake. He cant be that good and certainly doesn't deserve a mid-range contract for a WR. Unbelievable people. This dude is fantastic. He catches almost everything thrown his way. He makes up for the inaccuracy of Tanne on a regular basis, and then the fans criticize him because he falls down after he makes a catch. he wouldn't have to fall down had the ball hit him in stride or anywhere near his chest. I agree wholeheartedly that he is not a true #1 WR, but he could be a great #2. If he wants a little extra money to stay on his home team, sign me up for more Hartline. I was at the Arizona game this year, and he looked outstanding!

Jake Long.... The fan base seems to be divided on him. I cant argue with either perspective. I totally agree with the line of thinking that he is done, on the decline, and we should let him walk because he may make our team worse. I also fully agree with the line of thinking that we could be getting a hell of a deal at $10 mil a year if he returns to All Pro form. But for me, I am leaning more towards the first line of thinking because of the needs we have and the current personnel that we have.

Free Agents coming to Miami? How can that be? Everyone knows that coaches and players only use Miami as a bargaining chip! Get over yourself people. This is a business and we are better for the people who didn't come here the people who didn't come here are better for going there own way. I would have loved Jim Harbaugh as our coach, but he found a much better gig. Peyton Manning, can any of you truly feel confident about signing him to a 5 year deal back then not knowing how capable he would be when he returned? I wasn't, and the risk was not worth the reward. So stop taking stuff so personally. Miami is a proud and storied franchise. Just because we have fallen on hard times doesn't negate the domination and years of well above average play we had during 80s and 90s.

Much of the discussion regarding Free Agents lately have centered around WRs. Jennings, Bowe, Wallace, and Harvin seem to be the flavors of the month. A good argument can be made for each of them. But each one also comes with some form of sacrifice. For me, I try to get the guy that fits the system, the need, the price, and will be the least risk of flop.

Bowe, he will be very expensive. The way I see it, Bowe would be the biggest risk in the locker room, the biggest risk of the Marshall Syndrome (dropping TD passes like its going out of style) and would cost the second most of these big 4.

Wallace is very similar to Bowe. The main difference for me is that Wallace is much more reliable as a true deep threat. But do we even need a deep threat for this offense? We all know by now that Mike Sherman does not change his style to accommodate the talent he has; so the player needs to fit his system, not the other way around. Wallace will also be very expensive and may present a headache for the locker room. I see Wallace as the largest risk, biggest potential reward of the bunch.

Jennings is my personal favorite and the lowest risk/ reward of the bunch. I see Jennings as being a more affordable acquisition $7-9 mil, and he represents the best attitude of the bunch and could really help Tanne develop. He also perfectly fits Sherman's system as he is versatile and represents both a deep threat and a seam threat and can line up anywhere and be effective.

All this talk about Harvin has my head spinning. This guy cant stay healthy, he want Fitz money, and there have been many many reports about how much of a douchbag he is to his teammates, his coaches, and people in general. Not to mention the injury concerns. This guy has cost me fantasy championships for his headaches. I dont think that he has the drive, the motivation, or the gonads to be a true leader. He is not and never will be a true #1 WR and he doesn't really fit our need right now. Is he better than Davonne Bess, absolutely, but how much? $10 mil a year better with 3x the attitude. No thank you.

The draft... whatever, I really don't care at all about all of the talk. I don't follow college football and could not really care less. I learned a long time ago that what a player does in college has little bearing on how good they will be in the NFL. Of course there are many many exceptions, but every year we see players surprise and players disappoint.

My last point in this rant and thank you for reading by the way. Ryan Freaking Tannehill. I am very very hopeful that this kid will develop and be the guy we are all hoping the he will be. I fear that he is 3-4 years away still from being an above average QB. He is so raw and has so little experience as a QB that i cant see him dominating for quite some time. I urge myself and all of you to decide on one of two things right now. Be patient with him unconditionally, or move on to the next great thing. If you are going to be supportive of him and this team, be patient and understand that he may be the least experienced QB ever to start in the NFL. I am not aware of any other QB who played so little throughout high school and college. So temper your expectations and try to enjoy the ride. We have gone my whole lifetime without a title and I still support and love this team as much as anyone. I can wait because the product is worth waiting for. But for your own mental health and sanity... chill the f%%k out. People work way to hard to tear apart the things they love and refuse to focus on the positives.

Last Thing......I am officially starting the 6 more years of Ireland Bandwagon. This guy is going to end up being one of the best GMs in the NFL in the not too distant future. Mark my words. He has made some outstanding moves and some head scratchers. But ask any team and you will find that no GM is perfect and they swing and miss from time to time. Be patient fellow phin phans for the best to still to come.

Watching the game last night, I started thinking that maybe we should bring in both Jennings and Driver. They seem to enjoy playing together and could be that 1st and 4th option we need while we search for a WR through the draft.

I am trying to plan the day out for myself and want to see who else is going, what every ones plans are, and where most people are sitting.

The game shoudl be entertaining to watch, especially if Kaep starts.

I am aware that this should probably be a fanshot, but no one looks at those anymore.

For the record,

I am in the corner of the endzone, dolphins sideline, arriving well before the game starts, and will not be sober. I repeat, will not be sober. I dont know if Alpha is allowed back in San Fran after the zoo incident, but maybe Husker can pull some strings now that he is with the brass. Nicky is not allowed in due to height restrictions and Bacon is not Vegan friendly enough to be allowed in. Other than those people, I expect each and every other one of you to be at the game.

I love Sean Smith and all, but if he ever has a game like this again, we will need to start looking elsewhere. That was the worst game for any single one of our DBs this season. I know that you got it in you Sean..Pick it up and rebound.

A 6 hour drive through the desert at night gives a man time to reflect. Sometimes that reflection can be painful or hopeful, but often not both. Well this time, I had both occur and I had a lot to be happy and positive about following a tough loss to the Arizona Cardinals on sunday.

A 6 hour drive through the desert at night gives a man time to reflect. Sometimes that reflection can be painful or hopeful, but often not both. Well this time, I had both occur and I had a lot to be happy and positive about following a tough loss to the Arizona Cardinals on sunday.

Lets go back in time a bit... On my way to the game, my thought process led me to think that our best chance at winning this game was to have a solid run attack and stingy defense. I would not have guessed that our "weaknesses" would be our strength against an undeafeted Cardinal team.

Arriving at University of Phoenix Stadium went failry uneventful. Leaving LA at 4am and arriving in Phoenix at 10:30am, the drive went smooth and was full of conversations about where this team is and where it is going. I took a friend who is a 49er fan, and by the end of the day, we had a new believer in this team.

The Arizona Cardinal fans started the day comically over confident in how badly we were going to get beat and how silly it is for so many Miami Dolphin fans to show up for this foregone conclusion of a blow out victory. The game featured a fantastic showing of support for the Miami Dolphins. Ther were Dolphin fans as far as the eye could see and that was a comforting sight.

Through the first half, the Dolphins played a steady, efficient game on offense with Tanne putting up 200 yrds passing in the first half. Davone Bess made play after play against the highly touted Patrick Peterson. Hartline catches EVERYTHING that comes his way and had a solid first half as well. But the defense...oh boy the defense.. That unit looked to be the best in the NFL that first half. Holding the Cardinals to a season low 68 total yards of offense in the first half.

Cardinal fans began realizing that they grossly underrated their foe today. While the majority of fans remained hopeful for a comeback, many had accepted defeat too early. The most common thing heard was; "How is this team looked at so negatively" and "Where the hell did Tannehill come from" and "This defense is phenomenal". It is unfortunate that we couldnt have just ended the game at the half after dominating the Cardinals in every aspect of the game.

The second half began and it appeared that the Cardinals came out with new found motivation and a new found ability to beat the soft coverage of the Dolphins secondary in the second half. While the defensive line was still able to generate pressure, it appeared that the defensive playcalling got too conservative in coverage. That conservative playcalling allowed for the Cardinals to chip away short yardage plays and eventually to find the endzone.

The offense looked to continue to dominate, but a couple of guys were unable to step up at the end to secure a win. After some of the most exciting football i have ever seen live, we came out on the short end of a over-time loss. The classy Arizona fans seemed to be silenced at the end and the obnoxious fans who started so sure of a win came back with a "never had a doubt" attitude. The walk of shame back to my car was a long one and more often than not i was forced to bite my tongue.

One story for you from the game. We were surrounded by great Arizona fans who were respectfully excited for their team throughout the game, but there is always that one guy... This guy is one of the fans who talked shit prior to the game and apologized to me for making the drive for what he originally determine to be a "Fish Fry". I ignored this gentleman for the vast majority of the game and wrote him off as a typical douchbag. At one point I asked him at what point did he switch from being a Jets fan (his behavior and speech was awfully reminiscent of their fans). Everytime the Cardinals scored in the second half, high fives were going flying around in excitement, and this guy, this guy...each time tried to fake high five me and my friend. We blew this off and remianed focused on the next drive. Well, after Tanne threw the pick in overtime, he turns to us and says "Sucks to be you, you are getting ready to watch your team lose another game in overtime because that is exactly what Miami does, find ways to lose...hahaha." I asked him a simple question..."Do you have a good dentist?" He responded with bewilderment and said "I guess, why?" My response "because if you turn around to talk shit one more time, I am going knock for f$$king teeth out." He remained silent the rest of the game...

Thats enough for the experience, now lets talk about the game! I loved that I had the first hand experience of seeing what the future holds for our beloved Miami Dolphins! Ryan mutha f$$king Tannehill! The kid has it. As one of Tanne's biggest critics, I am a changed man! This kid can make all of the throws. This kid steps up in the pocket and finds the open receivers. This kid is going to bring a title back to Miami in the next 4 years. I am confident of this.

To anyone who continues to bash Hartline, Bess, and Fasano... stop it! These guys are awesome! They are not the flashy popular guys around the league, but at this moment, i wouldnt trade them for much of anything. Fasano does it all. His blocking is amoungst the best in the NFL for TEs. He catches almost everything that comes his way and has that it factor that drives him to fall forward and to seek out the endzone every chance he gets. Hartline, he is appearing to be damn near unstoppable. He has been the most productive WR in football this year in getting yards and is one of the best #2 options in the league. Davone, the dude is amazing. He was covered well all day by Peterson, but Bess still made the tough catches and kept the chains moving. These three options for Tanne will help him develop into a top end passer in this league.

Our defense. This unit played elite most of the game. Sean Smith help Fitzgerald to a bellow average day. Smith had two very very good ints, but did blow a huge play at the end of the 4th to allow the game to go to overtime. Wake was unstoppable. He was held on almost every play, and the refs didnt make the calls. The whole front 7 dominated the whole game.

The secondary looked very very good in the first half, and i wonder if the converage got softer in the second half due to play calling, tiredness, or nerves. Not really sure, but the first 10 yards were open on almost every play in the second half. When Kolb had time to throw, he had someone open every time. Had we not generated the pressure in the second half, Kolb would have tore us apart.

Lets talk about the bad for a brief moment. First and foremost, one thing that most of the undefeated teams have in common (along with most of the teams percieved to be the best in the league) is consistent kicking. DCnotso$ technically cost us another win this weekend. He is no longer reliable and has become a liability. With his missed field goal, the Cardinals not only had the chance to tie the game at the end, but we game them a short field after the miss. I dont remember at the moment how the Cardinals did on that particular drive, but a made field goal would have put us up three scores at that point.

Playcalling. Playcalling gave us the chance to win, and cost us the game at the same time. Why on earth Sherman decided to try and throw with less than 3 miuntes to go in the game is beyond me. All we needed to do was run the clock down a bit and pin them deep. We would have kept them out of the endzone. Their team was deflated after Hartline's score and I fully believe that they would have stalled out on that last drive with so far to go. Instead, a pass play is called, Tanne gets bum rushed, fumbles the ball, and gives them a very short field and almost 3 minutes to tie the game.

Charles Clay. Unreliable. Useless. We drafted a rookie TE by the name of Egnew. Even though Egnew is not up to the nfl speed yet, what is the point of stifling him so that Clay can keep dropping balls. I just dont see the point of him in the lineup anymore.

Nanee, gotta go. Its simple.

The 6 hour drive back to LA provided me with ample time to think about what is to come. I feel very good about where this team is. I say that this team that can beat any team in the NFL. On Sunday, I saw a team that with more experience and better coaching could be a Superbowl Champion sooner than later. I still feel that this season will leave us somewhere in the 8-8 range, and we will have plenty more games like this one to win and lose this year. In time, players will step up at the end and make the game ending plays. In time, the coaches will get to know the players so well that the right play will be called and the right result will come of it. Ryan Tannehill is going to put up big numbers in his career. My biggest hope for him is that his decision making will continue to improve and that he will start winning with his mind and not try to win them with his arm.

Great game Arizona! you all earned the win. Arizona did everything right to win, but they needed us to make that last big mistake. All in all, I am the most excited about the Miami Dolphins that i have been in a long time. Its going to be a frustrating year, but in my heart of hearts, i truly see us winning the Superbowl in the next 4 years. This is our Miami Dolphins be proud and hold your heads up high! Good things are coming!

So, here is my first fantasy team of the year. I missed the beginning of the draft and autopicked the first three picks. I autopicked, Ray Rice, Ryan Matthews, and Trent Richardson. I picked the rest trying to make up for the terrible begining.

QB. Peyton Manning / Jay Cutler
RB. Ray Rice / Ryan Mathews / Trent Richardson / DeAngelo WIlliams / LaGarret Blount
WR. Hakeem Nicks / Miles Austin / Desean Jackson / Torrey Smith / Davonne Bess / Mario Manningham
TE. Brandon Pettigrew / Anthony Fasano
K. Jason Hanson
DEF Giants
Its a 10 man league and they do include KR yards for all players. It first i was not very pleased, but after seeing the rest of the teams...I might be alright...What do you think?

Soooo, innocent before proven guilty, huh, not around these parts I guess? If Chad is going to be cut, it should be for his performance on the field and his attitude after being corrected by Philbin. Absolutely nothing has been proven about this incident with his wife, yet so many of us in PhinLand are very quick to drop the guilty verdict with little to no evidence. Come on people, this is America, we can at least pretend that people aren't guilty before being being proved so...

Hello fellow Fin Fans!

This last year has been interesting to say the least. Below you will see some of the season through the eyes of a changed man.

The lockout... booooooooo!.... really gave the start of the season a sour taste, but we got through and found a way to still have quality football.

The season began quite interestingly. After a silently loud minority of fans began booing Chad Henne at some organized scrimmages and subsequently chanting we want Orton, Henne was able to shrug off the criticism in time to start the season hot against the New England Patriots. While a Win was not in the cards that Chris the God dealt, our Miami Dolphins fought valiantly in a loss giving our fans something to look forward to offensively for the first time in years. The optimism was as short lived with 3 more losses coming in a row with Chad Henne at the helm. But despite Henne seemingly improving in all areas of his game, the losses came and injury wasn't too far behind it.

Matthew William Moore, born August 9, 1984 in Van Nuys, California (just minutes from where I am currently sitting) was thrust into the starting role for our Miami Dolphins week 6 after the fan favorite Chad Henne had the audacity to punish the ground with his mighty shoulder back in week 4. Moore had a rough beginning, but seemed to improve as the year progressed. Mr. Moore took our team from defeated to mostly defeated over the course of the regular season by winning 6 of his last 9 starts to close the season, posting an 87 passer rating, and a 16-9 td-int ratio.

Our Miami Dolphins had became somewhat the laughing stock of the league based on our perfect losing percentage and the Suck for Luck Campaign. With many of our fans beginning to see the bright side of losing, winning became the new losing and the Sucking 4 Luck became the rally cry for many of our most loyal fans. That's when the worst of the worst happened. we won a game... oh me oh my... what are we going to do? Who do we think we are scoring more than the other team? We got to fire that coach before he takes us out of this nice deep whole we have dug ourselves.

So we started winning some games and the suck for luck campaign began losing steam. Many argued that it was a testament to your fan-hood whether you rooted for wins or losses, and others argued that it was not rooting for losses, but finding something to root for if there are losses. A line was drawn and fights ensued. The battle was long and futile. Neither side won the argument and neither would concede defeat. There were many casualties during the struggle. I myself was overtaken by the monkey and Alpha one fateful night in a highway restroom. It was dark, noisy, and smelled of red wine vinegar. After this unwanted advance, I was forced to change my name and assume a new identity. One that is less argumentative, and more open minded towards alternative ways of thinking and that's when the PhinPhinatic was layed to rest. It seemed so simple, combine my first name with my last name's first letter, and shazaam... shauny was born. I was born in Chris the Gods image, so I knew I was destined for greatness.

But I was still lost as a Fin Fan. I didnt know what to think about the upcoming draft or free agency. I was a squirrel without a nut, a TCP without velvetta shells and cheese, and Kevin without a Mosul, a White Monkey without Bacon, a Beaver without a Rec'.... just lost I tell you. That is when Chris the God opened the skies and delivered us all Yakov... king of the Mock Draft to tell us how to think. Without this Yakov, I would have been completely in the dark about who to choose who makes sense for our Miami Dolphins. After Mock Draft #43,890, I finally got it. We should draft a RT...oh wait....I mean a QB to replace the guy who just had a very solid season. Yes, that is it. We should use our top 10 pick to develop a guy who has a hot girlfriend, a great arm, good speed, and a sub par college performance record.

So here we are, May of 2012 getting excited all over again about our beloved Maimi Dolphins and what fortunes may fall upon us this season. We have fans all over the board as far as what we think is best for this team. Are we rebuilding, reloading, or what? Some want to thrust our beloved new and shiny toy, Tanny, into the starter role and see what the kid has. Some want to put our other much older, but equally shiny toy, Garrard, into the starter role. But it seems that many are not interested in letting Mr. Moore continue where he left off. Just to remind you, 6-3, 87 passer rating, and a 16-9 td-int ratio.

So why are we here? Why have you read through all of this nonsense? I'll tell you why, this fanbase has become so frustrated, so infuriated, and so embarrassed over the past decade that many of us have abandoned reasoning and replaced it with short sighted logic in hopes of forcing change. Or what i call Change for Change's sake. I think this team is on the right path. We have a very solid starting qb in Matt Moore who outplayed many of the perceived top guns in the NFL by having a better passer rating, td-int ratio and win/loss record. I am not here to argue that Matt Moore is the Quarterback of the future, our Miami Dolphins have made it quite clear that Ryan Tannehill is that guy. But I am here to argue that Matt Moore is our QB of the present. He proved that he is a capable starter for our Miami Dolphins last season. If he improves on some of his fundamentals, he could be a great QB for us while we develop Tannehill. The worst thing that we could do right now is turn Ryan Tannehill into the next David Carr or Blaine Gabbert by throwing him to the wolves too early.

As far as David Garrard goes, to me, he represents insurance if Moore gets hurt. I really dont believe in my heart of hearts that Ryan Tannehill should start one single regular season game this year regardless of how he performs during practices and the preseason. I really think we should handle him with kid gloves and develop him to be the future of our proud organization. I see no harm in holding back on starting him, only potential benefits.

So to all of you who believe starting a rookie QB day one is a good idea, take a look at what history has shown. There have been some success stories, but many, many more potentials wasted. Even the best quarterback in the history of the NFL, Dan Marino, had to wait until week 6 to replace David "Laying the Wood" Woodley as the starter.

thank you for your time and future criticism.

Shaun Yager

RIP Phinphinatic 2008-2012..
