Gang Green Nation Why not let Brad Smith play quarterback on Sunday?

Both this year and last year I sat and waited for Smith to throw out of the wildcat (especially this year), and I think he's done it twice or so? As a very successful college QB who can throw as well as scramble for yards, is there any reason not to have him play at least a few possessions and see how he looks? Is it really better to get Mark Brunell/Kellen Clemens the playing time time? With Sanchez's injury I highly doubt he'll play very much/at all and I'd love to see what Smith has. Am I crazy?

Amazin' Avenue Using WAR for player contracts?

As I watch this Mets-Padres game and see Alex Cora get another start, coming one step closer to vesting, it got me thinking. If one day WAR becomes an accepted statistic in the baseball world, wouldn't that be a much better way to reward players with bonuses/vesting options? Like maybe if Cora could at least break even we'd take him for another year? Does anyone else think this is a plausible option and maybe one we'll see at some point down the road?

Amazin' Avenue Poll: What is going to be the biggest hole in the 2010 NYM?

After going through 2 seasons where the bullpen was clearly the biggest weak spot, last year basically everything fell apart (with the whole injury fiasco etc etc). But looking forward to this season it's hard to nail down what this team's biggest weakness is going to be. The hitting is certainly questionable (Murphy?/Catcher?/Castillo? etc.), as well as the defense (Murphy?/Castillo?/Bay?/Beltran's knees?), as well as the starters (Maine?/Nieve?/Ollie?) and the bullpen seems pretty thin (Royota Carola?). I'm not saying that the Mets are going to be awful and there's no hope for a successful season, but what do you think is going to be the biggest problem for the 2010 season?

Anyone who had maybe the smallest idea in the back of their head that we might pick him up and rid ourselves of Luis (though at this point why would you) can now be assured otherwise.
