STOP Gets the Hansen Petitions per SacBee

Well, shit. Looks like STOP gets the Hansen petitions. I guess, once again, Hansen's word turns out to be worth exactly jack and shit.

Look Back In Humor, Part Six - Runup to the Initial Vote

So here we go down the home stretch. We're coming up to the first Big Vote, and some folks had the temerity to accuse StR of presenting only one side (the pro-Sacramento) side of the picture. ...

Look Back In Humor, Part Five

As we get past the first week and thence into the middle weeks of April, things definitely start moving. We've got the runup to the initial committee vote, but unfortunately there were also some c...

Look Back In Humor, Part Four

When we closed out the prior part of the series, we were exposed to the awesome Photoshop abilities of soysauce and "Saving Sacramento" which garnered 83 recs. Would anything top that? Well,...

Look Back In Humor, Part Three

So here we go into the month of March. Things are getting tense around here. Our Friends Up North are getting cockier by the day. Terms like "vetted" and "binding" are flying around the...

Look Back In Humor, Part Two

When last we left this series, we had gotten to the point where the first Here We Buy night had come about. In the midst of those discussions, on one of the right of first refusal threads, we had...

Look Back In Humor, Part One

It's finally come upon us - the end of the Maloof era. And while there have been posts and comments throughout the Maloof regime that have been noteworthy, many of the most epic comments (at least...

Antitrust suit and Expansion - all in the same article!

Stanford economist Roger Noll says the losing city may sue on antitrust grounds. But that doesn't matter, because both cities will end up with teams anyway.

Game Recap - SJSU 38, SDSU 34

San Jose State’s David Fales capped off a wild fourth quarter with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Chandler Jones with 50 seconds left in the game, giving the Spartans the final margin in a 38-34...

Final: SJSU 40, Colorado State 20

The San Jose St. Spartans used a 14-0 first quarter, piled up 429 yards' worth of passing, and dominated the time of possession clock by 13 minutes en route to a 40-20 victory over the Rams in San...

Know Your Foe: Colorado State

Considering the histories of the two schools at hand, it’s actually a bit of a surprise that they’ve only taken the field five times against one another, with two of those contests coming in...

SJSU vs. UC Davis - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Redemption. It's not just about turning in a completed stamp book or getting a certain grade for which you've worked for a semester. Sometimes it's a couple of years in coming, and it serves as a...

SJSU 45, UC-Davis 13

SJSU experienced another dose of first-quarter doldrums, but managed to nudge ahead just before halftime, and used a 21-0 third period to finally subdue a surprisingly game UC-Davis squad, all...

SJSU vs. Stanford: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Wow. I started taking notes in the first quarter for a typical Stanford GB&U, but I had to pretty much throw those notes away, because after the first quarter this was a much different game. H...

Final: Stanford 20, SJSU 17

The Spartans gave the 21st-ranked Cardinal all they could handle and some more, but could not overcome some critical mistakes in the fourth quarter - including a fumble by DeLeon Eskridge that led...

BDL Slags the Kings and the Maloofs

So it turns out that the Kings' online team store has gone dark - and has been dark for about two months or so. KOVR picked up on it, and Deadspin got hold of it just yesterday. And now BDL's going with it. It's like the Maloofs have just plain given up trying to make it work here.

Gene Bleymaier to be new AD at SJSU

Not sure how I feel about this one. The MWC board folk seem to think this is a good hire, but my innate dislike of All Things Boise has me looking for the dark cloud behind the silver lining.

Witness to the Suicide of the Supersonics

Long article, but well worth the read. One passage stood out to me: With shoulders sagging and with the same querulous tone he used when he complained that city officials had given the Mariners and Seahawks new stadiums but not the Sonics, he told us he was a failure as an owner; he didn't change the NBA's economic system as he had hoped...The outward humility and self-effacement didn't change the underlying arrogance of the corporate titan. I wasn't the only one rolling my eyes in the speech's aftermath. Schultz spoke as if he wanted us to disagree, as if he wanted us to say, "No, no, Howard," and comfort him and let him know he was being too hard on himself. He wanted absolution for being the guy who sold the Sonics away. We weren't having any of it. He was the woman asking, "Does this outfit make me look fat?" and instead of offering reassurance, I could only think: "You? You look like a fucking whale." Excellent read, and a cautionary tale for what quite possibly lies in our immediate future...
