Would it matter?

Can Ryan Clark play SS? Would it matter? Not to hate on Ty Carter, I mean the guy has made some big time plays this year, but he did it from the FS spot. So I am curious if it would matter to slide Clark over to SS and either put in Carter or Mundy in Clak's spot. Just seems like the D holds a little better. I understand that no one can do what Troy does, but Clark seems like a logical replacement on Troy's side. The guy does alot, and Carter just doesn't seem to do well on that side. I really didn't get a good look at our defensive schemes today, was shaking my head too much to get a clear view of my TV, so I'm not sure which safety was playing where.

I can only imagine what it's like for Troy to watch from the sidelines. We miss you Troy and its painfully apparent...get well soon!

Okay I have to say that I was EXTREMELY disappointed in Jeff Reed today. Seriously Skippy? That's the best your going to do at....dare I say....Tackle?....WTF? Dude it's not two hand touch. Get in his way...make him run you over...do something!!! After I got hear about your dumbass all week for some dumb crap you got into on Monday night...this is what you show Tomlin, Colbert and the Rooneys why they should consider paying you more to stay???

Can Sepulveda kick off? At least he'd attempt to tackle.

Seriously Skippy have a great life beating up paper towel dispensers in another city. You're done in Pitt after the season.

Not sure if anyone has already posted something like this, but this is what I found out about our D today. I apologize if this has already been done.

Some stats to think about. According to NFL.com. An illustration of how far we are from being the best D in the league.....mostly without Troy.

Steelers Giants (Best D)

Overall D - 5th Overall - 1st

Rush D - 3rd Rush - 16th

Pass D - 14th Pass - 1

Points - 15th Points - 3rd

We really statistically have a good defense. Not #1, but not far off. I really don't think the D is to blame, but moreover, the turn over battle.

We are 26th in the league in turnovers. Our problem is not offense (By the way Ben is #2 in passing yards and is completing 73.8% of his passes....DAMN!), our problem is not necessarily defense, but really its the turnover battle. We are giving teams short fields or TDs off our turnovers. Its reminiscent our the 2006 season, but we have far more talent and are able to overcome some of our shortcomings. But overall teams are capitalizing off our turnovers and are able to stay in the game.

Don't get me wrong, I'm just as frustrated as everyone else, but I don't think the D should shoulder the entire blame for how close the last two games have been.

Goalline stand

Per Steelguy99 I will throw up a play I didn't like. The goalline stand where we ran Moore in the same spot 3 times in a row. The Colts D saw it coming and I think that TD would have solidified the victory..maybe. It was like the Jacobs play where we stuffed them. Couple of plays could have been called. How about a playaction rollout right there, with the TE running short route and maybe Ward or Holmes running the direction in the back of the end zone. It gets Ben out of the pocket and outside the tackles if he has to throw it away. How bout a FB dive? What is wrong with Davis taking the ball a yard and a half? The guy is short and built like a brick sh*t house. What about Russell, someone a little bigger and a little thicker to move the pile?

Anybody else think this kid is going to turn out to be a good CB? This kid is a special teams monster. Usually the first one down the field and pretty good at making tackles. I became impressed with him in the preseason games he's played. He seems to always come up with big plays and damn near had a pick-six for about 95 yds last week. I think he has a nose for the ball. Anyone have any similar or differing opinions on him? I know there isn't much to go on just yet. He'll be the nickel back this week, correct?
