I know we have to finish this playoff run first, but something about Morales replacing Street as our closer has really had me thinking.

First, I think placing Morales in the ninth inning role over Betancourt is first and formost to give the kid an emotional boost, and secondly to test the his future value to the Rockies in a late inning/high pressure role. Betancourt is gone next year, and we already know his value, and as a solid vet I dont think getting bypassed for temporary closer meant much to him. But it means a lot for Morales

Morales is staying in the pen for the rest of the year and playoffs. He will not usurp Streets closing job, and will go back to a setup role when street is back.

But next year, Is morales coming into camp battleing for a back end start job with Chacin, Francis, Hammel, and (???)

Or is he fighting a healthy Taylor and Manny for the bridge to Huston in the pen

Reading the fanshot to the USA article sparked up something I had been thinking about recently, and something that has not been discussed on the row. With all of the success we have had under Jim Tracy it is easy to forget his Interim Manager title. Of course they are not going to make any announcment on that now but the question I pose to you all is when? if ? they make that decision. Does Jim Tracy have a contract before the playoffs? after the playoffs? or do we have a full scale coaching search in the winter? well row what do you think!

Is it possible to sign and trade Matzek?

Im sure the blue jays would have to jump at a package of Matzek + Rogers/Chacin + Gonzo, or something close

Im not sure what the rules are regarding trading recent draft picks so enlighten me!

It is hard to think about giving up a top notch prospect like Matzek without ever letting him pitch in the system, and Im not sure if he would agree to join Toronto, but its an interesting additional asset for a trade if we want to make a major push towards the WS

now lets get down to the real reason i decided to finally join SBN today after reading it for years,

Im walking down a street in downtown sydney australia and I comment to my friend how I have yet to see anyone wear a baseball cap in australia (Im wearing my CU Buffs Hat) And what do you know the next person we bumb into is wearing the beautiful black and purple CR hat!

He probobly didnt know any players but he sure knew the team name!

so there you go ive seen one baseball hat in australia and it just happens to be from our favorite team!
