My first Super Bowl was watching the 85 Bears crush the Patriots. No way I could be a Pats fan after that. In CT we got Pats and Giants games, so starting in 86 I became a Giants fan. It was a pretty good year.

Random thoughts after 4 weeks

1. I hate Chris Canty 2. I can't wait to see a healthy full squad and hope I do soon. 3. Ha Ha, Dallas. 4. Some teams have bad punters. We have a bad kicker. So far, we're good enough anyway. 5...

Eagles' lineman Andrews done for season

3

PHILADELPHIA — Shawn Andrews won't play with his brother and college roommate this year. The Philadelphia Eagles placed Andrews on injured reserve Tuesday, ending the two-time Pro Bowl lineman's season. Andrews missed the entire preseason and season opener with a back injury. He briefly returned to practice, but his surgically repaired back flared up again. "It's disappointing to lose any player for the entire season, but we have full confidence in the other lineman we have on this roster to help this team succeed," coach Andy Reid said. "We wish Shawn all the best as he recovers and rehabilitates from this injury." Quarterback Jeff Garcia took Andrews' spot on the roster. Garcia was signed to provide insurance because Donovan McNabb has a cracked rib and is uncertain to play this week. Full text @ link above via the Associated Press

From the Journal Inquirer, published Sat., Aug. 29 in sports clurb "The Eye": "Now Eye knows why Michael Vick chose to attempt his comeback with the Eagles. Only those birdbrains in Philly -- who have been known to boo Santa Claus and cheer a career-ending neck injury -- could turn Vick's return to the NFL into a feel-good story."
