Gang Green Nation Perfection: A completely biased and totally unrealistic view of how the New York Jets can make history and go 19-0 this year

OTAs have just started. Football is months away. What's a fan to do? The obvious answer; post opinions on the internet. Right now, there are millions of people who truly believe that 'their' team will find a way to win the big game this year. They are sure that every draft pick will pan out, every clutch moment will be met with a major performance and that their favorite player will have an MVP type season. Never mind that some of these people are Browns or Dolphins fans. This is how most fans psyche themselves up for the year to come. With blind faith.

I have never been a fan of realistic analysis this early in the year. Until you get to the end of preseason you really have no idea what your team is going to look like. You could be a perennial playoff contender and lose a key player, and find yourself in contention for the first pick in the draft, or you could be a team with no notable stars that suddenly finds your identity under a new head coach and rocks the league. This early in the year for me, is a time to dream big. A time to look at all the positives of your team and hope that none of those negatives that eat away at your more rational self actually materialize on the field. In predicting a 19-0 season, you of course take this to another level of complete and utter foolishness. Which is what I intend to do here. The following is a completely biased and totally unrealistic view of how the New York Jets can make history and go 19-0 this year.

As a bonus- includes TEBOWTRACKER!

WEEK 1- vs Buffalo : The New York Jets start the season on a high note, blowing out the overyhyped Bills at home. The game resembles the Buffalo blowouts from the past two years, with solid defense of a subpar Buffalo attack, complete control of Fred Jackson and Stevie Johnson by David Harris and Darelle Revis, and a lethal ground and pound attack that nets Shonn Greene 128 yards and 3 scores. The vaunted Buffalo front line gets one sack, but is clearly not ready for prime time. Quinton Coples records his first NFL sack. Jets 34 - Bills 10

TEBOWTRACKER!- 2 rushes for 27 yards, 0/1 passing for 0 yards

WEEK 2- at Pittsburgh: A hard fought game that is ultimately won by Pittsburgh's late-game inability to stop the pass. Stephen Hill catches his first NFL td in the 4th quarter, a 62 yard completion for Mark Sanchez, enabled by Shonn Greene's monster block on a blitzing Troy Polamalu. Darelle Revis ends a late drive by the Steelers with his first interception of the year on a deep attempt to Mike Wallace. Quinton Coples continues his strong early season play, making several big stops on run defense and batting a couple of passes. Jets 27 - Steelers 20

TEBOWTRACKER! - 1 rush for 2 yards, 1/1 passing for 27 yards, 1 fumble

WEEK 3- at Miami: The New York Jets drop Miami to 0-3 on the year in decisive fashion. New York loads up on the run and plays single coverage across the board against Miami's neutered passing attack. Antonio Cromartie has two picks, Quinton Coples records 1 1/2 sacks and Aaron Maybin forces a fumble that Bart Scott returns for a score. New York's offense is tempered by a feisty Miami D, but the Jets don't need much from them to win this one as the defense asserts itself. Jets 17 - Dolphins 0

TEBOWTRACKER! - 3 rushes for 22 yards

WEEK 4- vs San Franciso: The toughest game of the young season, the New York Jets eke out a Rex Ryan type win with gritty second-half defense. Their only touchdown of the day comes on a screen to Joe McKnight from 40 yards out. Stephen Hill endears himself to the fans with his ferocious blocking downfield, as he upends Donte Whitner to spring McKnight for the score. Sanchez throws his first pick of the season. Frank Gore starts hot but the Jets D adjusts accordingly. Vernon Davis is a non-factor as he is beautifully bracketed by a combination of Bart Scott, Yeremiah Bell and Laron Landry. Jets 13 - 49ers 7

TEBOWTRACKER! - 2 rushes for 0 yards

WEEK 5- vs Houston: New York has a strong outing against a Houston team with early season issues. Their defense is struggling with adjustments and their run blocking has fallen off a bit from last year. Foster and Tate have a few good carries each but are mostly controlled by the Jets front seven. Andre Johnson is blanketed by Revis and the jets effectively use a combination of corners, safeties and linebackers to take away the tight ends. Matt Schaub continues his early season struggles with two picks thrown. Ground and Pound is gaining effectiveness, with a combined 177 rushing yards from Greene/McKnight/Tebow. Stephen Hill catches his second deep TD of the year. Jets 27- Texans 17

TEBOWTRACKER! - 4 rushes for 41 yards, 0/1 passing for 0 yards

WEEK 6 - vs Indianapolis: The Andrew Luck show comes to town... and leaves with a black eye. New York batters both sides of the rebuilding Colts team, moving the ball at will on the ground and through the air and shutting down the fledgling offense all day. Darelle Revis records two of NY's three interceptions, Demario Davis forces a fumble on a kick return and Dustin Keller grabs a pair of TDs. Jets fans get their first extended look at Tim Tebow in the 4th quarter of a blowout. Jets 41 - Colts 9

TEBOWTRACKER! - 7 rushes for 47 yards , 3/9 passing for 63 yards, 1 td

WEEK 7 - at New England: The surprisingly 3-3 New England Patriots bring their best game against the New York Jets, and fall just short. After a rocky start to the season, losing Aaron Hernandez for the year and watching new receiver Brandon Lloyd fail to get on the same page with Tom Brady, New England has an efficient game against the Jets defense with Gronkowski leading the way with 3 td receptions. Mark Sanchez and the NY offense respond blow-for-blow, shredding New England's putty secondary to the tune of 326 yards and 4 tds, and efficiently running the clock out late in the 4th quarter, not allowing Brady a chance to win it at the end. Jets 35 - Patriots 31

TEBOWTRACKER! - 2 rushes for 9 yards

WEEK 8- vs Miami: Miami comes in riding high, having won 2 of its last 3 games since their early defeat by the Jets. The Jets set them right back down with an offensive explosion from Santonio Holmes and Dustin Keller. Mark Sanchez continues his MVP type play with three TD passes, bringing his half season total to 16 tds and only 3 ints thrown. Reggie Bush runs for 89 yards and a score but nobody else on Miami contributes anything significant. Jets 33 - Dolphins 14

TEBOWTRACKER! - no touches

WEEK 9- BYE WEEK

TEBOWTRACKER! - 3 broadway shows, each suspiciously featuring at least 2 topless scenes by women.

WEEK 10- at Seattle: The New York Jets start their second half strong with a dominant victory over the mediocre Seahawks. Leon Washington returns a kickoff for a score against his old team but the rest of Seattle is proven ineffective against a much more talented NY team. Quinton Coples has a monster game, recording three sacks and forcing a fumble. Jets 24 - Seahawks 7

TEBOWTRACKER! - 1 rush for 13 yards, 0/2 passing for 0 yards

WEEK 11- at St. Louis: Brian Schottenheimer, still bitter about his departure from NY, decides to call his best trick plays and most complicated offensive sets in this game against his former team. Jets 28 - St. Louis 3

TEBOWTRACKER! - no touches

WEEK 12 - vs New England: New England's nightmare season continues as Brian Hoyer makes his first NFL start for the concussed Tom Brady. New England plays valiantly but is no match for a Jets team that is firing on all cylinders. This game is over by the end of the 3rd quarter. Jets 33 - Patriots 13

TEBOWTRACKER! - 8 rushes for 42 yards , 2/3 for 21 yards

WEEK 13- vs. Arizona Cardinals: Kerry Rhodes makes headlines for some choice comments about Rex Ryan leading up to the game but the game itself is a boring win for New York. Revis continues his DPOY-type season and shuts down Fitzgerald, Shonn Greene runs for 155 yards and the Jets keep waiting for a challenge. Jets 24 - Cardinals 10

TEBOWTRACKER! - 2 rushes for 14 yards

WEEK 14- at Jacksonville : The jacksonville jaguars give new york a scare with their best game of the season, but Bart Scott saves the day with a forced fumble on Maurice Jones Drew in the Jets red zone with under two minutes to play. Sione Pouha recovers the loose ball and the jets escape Jacksonville with a win. Jets 20- Jaguars 14

TEBOWTRACKER! - 3 rushes for 18 yards, 0/2 passing for 0 yards

WEEK 15- at Tennessee: The Titans and their on-again/off-again defense shows up to play, but cannot score on the Jets D, who record their second shutout of the season. Offense is hard to come by, but Shonn Greene continues his strong season with 95 yards and a score. Wayne Hunter gives up his first sack of the season. Jets 16 - Titans 0

TEBOWTRACKER! - no touches

WEEK 16- vs. San Diego: The San Diego Chargers come in to NY trying to keep pace with the surprising Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos, all three of which are tied for their division lead. San Diego loses Antonio Gates to injury in the second quarter and cannot adjust their game plan, failing to score in the second half. Quinton Coples has another multi-sack game and is at this point considered a shoo-in for defensive rookie of the year. Jets 21 - Chargers 13

TEBOWTRACKER! - 4 rushes, 17 yards

WEEK 17 - at Buffalo: The Buffalo Bills were eliminated from playoff contention the week before and Rex Ryan decides against sitting his starters, though he says he will pull them early. Buffalo's defense has played a lot better as of late but find themselves the second half victims of TEBOW MAGIC. New York celebrates its 16-0 regular season with a team celebration at midfield in which Santonio Holmes introduces his new celebration, a tebowing that transforms into a jet and flies off yelling 'WHEEE!' Jets 24 - Bills 14

TEBOWTRACKER! - 9 rushes for 86 yards, 7/16 passing for 102 yards and 2 tds

WEEK 18- FIRST SEED, BYE WEEK

TEBOWTRACKER! - spotted at comic book convention, buying comics that feature busty, scantily clad women saving the universe.

WEEK 19 - vs #4 seeded Kansas City - The surprising Kansas City Chiefs come in to MetLife stadium riding high after surviving Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos in the wild card round, and are promptly reminded of their status in the NFL with a sound whupping by the New York jets. A rested Jets team is peaking at the right time. Despite a very good day by Jamaal Charles, Kansas City is blown out. Jets 48 - Chiefs 21

TEBOWTRACKER! - 4 rushes for 26 yards, 2/2 passing for 37 yards

WEEK 20- vs Baltimore: The jets and ravens play a thrilling back-and-forth war of inches. Both defenses shine, but the hero of the game is Joe McKnight and his kickoff return for a touchdown in the 4th quarter with the jets down three. Antonio Cromartie ends the game with a leaping interception in the last minute of the game, and New York heads to the Super Bowl. Jets 14 - Ravens 10

TEBOWTRACKER! - 3 rushes for 2 yards

WEEK 21- PRO BOWL WEEK

TEBOWTRACKER! - Visits playboy mansion to "tell them about Jesus."

WEEK 22- SUPER BOWL vs Chicago: After fighting their way through the Eagles, the Packers and the Falcons to earn their berth in the big game, the 6th seeded Chicago Bears bring their high flying attack of Cutler to Marshall to face the 18-0 New York Jets. Taking his cue from the last time these two teams met, Rex Ryan designs an aggressive blitzing scheme with the intent of forcing Cutler to make the hurried throws that are usually his downfall, and the plan works to perfection. Cutler throws three first half picks and four overall, two of which are returned for scores. The Jets go up 21 - 0 at halftime and spend the entire second half trading long drives with the Bears, who never even get within ten. the game's MVP is awarded to Darelle Revis, who had two picks and limited Brandon Marshall to one catch for 13 yards. Jets 35 - Bears 21

TEBOWTRACKER! - 3 rushes for 49 yards

The Parade runs down 6th avenue.

TEBOWTRACKER! - On the cheerleader float, checking pom-pom quality.

Gang Green Nation Perspective...

Today is a tough day to be a New York Jets fan, and it isn't just because our team wasn't playing. It also isn't just that the two teams that Jets fans least wanted to see in the big game made it, or how they made it despite the fact that their opponents mostly outplayed them. It isn't just the knowledge that now, one of two groups of loudmouthed fans will get to spend the next year rubbing it in. It's having to choose. You can either pass on the game entirely and disappoint the people who would enjoy watching it with you, or you can choose whichever team you view as the lesser evil. There are no happy options here, but that still doesn't mean you shouldn't try to find reasons to be happy.

Come Super Bowl Sunday, I will be watching the big game in a house on Long Island, and I will be completely surrounded by Giants fans. My friend invited me over to his family's Super Bowl party before we knew who it would be, and I said yes. At some point a few of the people there will make Jets jokes. I will grin and bear it, because that is all we can do. The truth is though, I will be ecstatic to be there watching it with them, because as fun (or heart wrenching) as football can be, there are always more important things. In this case, the important thing is my friend. Back in September he had a sizable tumor removed from his lung, and he has been fighting through infections and the effects of chemotherapy ever since. I will be overjoyed to be sitting with him, watching a game we both love very much, even if I can't stand the teams involved in it.

Pain is part of the human experience, and it is important to remember that the pain you feel over this is pretty tame compared to the pains one could be feeling. I never understand how people can wish harm on others just because they support a different team. Every team has a fanbase, and every fanbase feels pain at some point. This year we felt the pain a little sooner than the last two years. And there's no doubt that being that close is a more intense sort of pain than being a fan of , say, the Bucs or the Bills. But it's still worth remembering that tides turn in the NFL, and that we are not that far away from being the ones who get to spend an entire offseason bragging. Some day it will be us.

Today is a prime example of how close any team is, in any given year, to signing (Wes Welker, Victor Cruz) or drafting (Rob Gronkowski, Jason Pierre Paul) the right player who will put them over the top and take them from contender to champion. If you have a good coach and a front office that tries, you should always have hope. Our Jets have a couple of key spots to fill, but it is still just a couple of spots. We could be one good or lucky draft pick and one or two solid FA signings away from going from a feisty contender to a legit dynasty. That's how football works. So there really is no reason to feel despair. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. And even if you really can't stomach watching the two teams that you least wanted to be in the Super Bowl fight it out for a title, just take heart in the fact that the draft is only a few months away, and training camp is soon thereafter. Nightmares end. Life goes on. We'll all be just fine.

Gang Green Nation What we truly and really need to do to win in 2012 - GUARANTEED SUPER BOWLS

Here are the moves we need to make in order to have AN AWESOME DOMINANT SUPER CHAMPION TEAM next year. I will go position by position.

First, coaches. We demote Rex to defensive coordinator, and hire Jon Gruden as HC. Then we sign Norv Turner to be our OC. Keep Westy at ST, and if possible, get Tom Landry and John Madden to consult.

Ok. Qb. lots of controversy over this position. I think the answer is simple. Sanchez is traded to the Colts for Manning. Then we trade all of our 2012 and 2013 draft picks to the Packers for Aaron Rodgers. Now we have two awesome qbs who can push each other or something.

RB. Sign Matt Forte, Trade our 2014 draft picks for Adrian Peterson. Cut Powell and demote Greene to the third back. McKnight is traded to Chicago for Devin Hester, who will exclusively be used in special team situations.

WR. First, we keep Kerley. Then we trade Holmes to the Packers for Jordy Nelson. We trade all of our 2015 and 2016 draft picks to the Lions for Calvin Johnson. We sign DeSean Jackson and keep Patrick Turner as our 5th receiver. I mean, with our qb tandem, even he will be useful.

TE- Trade Dustin Keller and our 2017 draft picks to the Saints for Jimmy Graham. Keep Jeff Cumberland, if he heals up right. Cut Matthew Mulligan (like, literally. With a knife or a jagged piece of glass) then release him. Convert Josh Baker to full time TE.

O-Line. - Keep Brick, Slauson and Mangold. Trade Brandon Moore and 2018 draft picks to Denver Broncos for their RG/RT combo. Burn Wayne Hunter on a stake at the 50 yard line at halftime of 2012 season opener.

Defense time.

CB- Clone Darrelle Revis 5 times. Get rid of everybody else.

S- Trade Jim Leonhard and 2019 draft picks for Cam Chancellor. Trade Eric Smith for a can of original Pringles. Enjoy a salty snack, then sign the best FA safety available to pair with Chancellor.

ILB- Keep David Harris. Trade Bart Scott and 2020 draft picks to 49ers for Patrick Willis.

OLB- Sign Mario Williams. Make deal with satan to have Maybin develop strength without losing his speed.

DE- keep Mo Wilk. Ask very politely that the Indianapolis colts throw Freeney in on the Sanchez for Manning deal. If we ask politely, they should do it. Also, sign Vernon Gholston to ten year deal. Have entire team line up to greet him as he returns to the stadium. As he enters, void his contract and have everybody point and laugh at him.

DT- Keep current rotation, but also trade 2021, 2022 and 2023 draft picks to Detroit for Suh.

...

There you have it. A team that cannot lose. YAY SUPER BOWL

Gang Green Nation Helping you step off of the ledge...

After a tough, heartbreaking loss to the Raiders, I am seeing too many people question exactly how bad this team can be instead of how good it can be. Here is some hope, in the form of things we can be thankful for and things we can look forward to, this year and in years to come.

First, Mark Sanchez. Yes, he has thrown a number of interceptions on plays where he did not do a great job reading the coverage, but it has become apparent that the team has put it all on his shoulders now, and so far, the offense has been scoring. I believe that Tom Moore is having a great effect on Sanchez, and this is something to feel very good about  for years to come. I expect Sanchez to throw more picks that I am comfortable with this year, but it can easily be chalked up to growing pains with a new offensive philosophy. As the season progresses we should see him get more and more comfortable with the philosophy and the weapons he is working with.

And those weapons are formidable. Make no mistake, we have one of the most potent offenses in football. Between a legit #1 receiver in Holmes, an aged but still tall Plaxico Burress who, while he may have lost a step is still able to use his body as effectively as ever, a dangerous possession receiver in Derrick Mason and a dynamic TE in Keller, this offense is juiced. Throw in Tomlinson out of the backfield, and you figure out that there is no reason the Jets can't keep scoring at the pace that they are. Even more, if our offensive coordinator learns how to adjust to defenses.

And I'm not even mentioning Kerley. I don't think he's going to see the offensive field much unless one of the other three gets hurt. But you have to love what he brings to the table going forward.

Also, honorable mention, for coming years... Jeff Cumberland may not have come down with that pass, but you have to cut a guy slack for not holding on to a ball when he might have just torn his achilles going up for it. The important thing is, did you see how fast he was on that play? Assuming he heals up and is the same come next year, those 2TE sets will be as good as any 2TE set in football.

That adjustment may not happen, but I have hope that it will. We all know the Schotty saga by now and there's really no use retreading it, but I think this could be the year he figures it out too. I have to believe that he knows his job is on the line. You already have Keller crediting Moore with his early success and while he may not have said it, I believe that LT also owes his role to Moore. The thing that not many people realize about Peyton Manning is how well he utilizes his backs out of the backfield. All of those great plays you can think of where Manning hits Wayne or Garcon/Collie/whoever for big plays was often preceded by big first down pickups to Addai. LT is being used exactly as he should be, and that's already an improvement over last year.

As for the O-line. Yikes, right? Well, not necessarily. I think we can all agree that we need an upgrade at RT. But our other 4 spots are solid. Nick Mangold will be back soon and we will go right back to having one of the best O-lines in the game. And for now, Colin Baxter looks like he's not that much of a liability. If the Jets are smart, they will go out and sign a veteran tackle to take Hunter's place. If they don't... well, do you know how many teams in the league would kill to have 4 linemen they can depend on? The Jets can adjust and hide one weak spot.

 Defense...

It is true that outside of the Island, we have nothing spectacular at the moment. But we do have a bunch of gritty, hard nosed players up front who are great at stopping the run (usually) and have been worlds better at sniffing out screens this year than they were last year. Our safeties are undersized, but they are smart, aggressive and solid tacklers. Antonio Cromartie is obviously a sore point this week, but the one thing I notice is that he is trying. He's already got his big contract and he is still playing just as hard as he did last year. I believe that if we remove him from kickoff duties and just let him focus on coverage, we will be just fine with him in our #2 spot. The boneheaded plays will probably not disappear entirely, but if he just cuts them in half he's still gonna be one of the best #2 corners in the game.

And how about that Kyle Wilson guy, huh? That's a pretty cool backup plan to have. It's early in the season right now, but I can't imagine anybody could be disappointed with what he has shown so far.

Another bright spot is Mohammed Wilkerson. Dude is seriously flashing us something every once in a while. I don't know about anyone else, but it gives me high hopes for his effectiveness going forward. He may just become that guy who can get to the QB for us.

And hey, Kenrick Ellis. When I think about him, I see an image from a favorite comic book of mine.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/eexlebots/566411875/

Yeah. That sums up my feelings about K.Ellis.

Plus, you know we have one of the best defensive minds in football as a head coach. If you think the Jets are gonna have a bunch of duds like this week over the course of the season, you don't know Rex. He will adjust. He'll adjust and do what he does best; come up with unbeatable schemes for big games, and let us make another deep playoff run.

I won't even mention our special teams. Do I need to? You know how awesome they are. And watching TJ Conley punt, I am pretty content with not having Weatherford anymore. And Nick Folk might just be okay too.

So really, to the people who feel like this season could be a disaster or that the window is closing on us... take a deep breath. Appreciate the team you have, because there are a hell of a lot of teams out there who would kill to have the talent and personnel we're working with right now. Just have fun. These are good times to be a Jets fan.

Gang Green Nation From underrated to overrated

Is it just me, or has David Harris made the leap from underrated to overrated about as quickly as any player ever? I'm genuinely curious if anybody else sees it this way, or if I'm on an island Ochocinco style.

Realistically, he is the best option available to the New York Jets. There's no good argument against that. He fits very well into the scheme we run and no one on earth could question his toughness, dedication and football smarts. We probably could not do better this offseason. But I can't help but cringe when I hear people call him one of the best middle linebackers in the game. I certainly wouldn't put him in tier A ( Ray Lewis, Patrick Willis, Brian Urlacher) but there's no shame in that. The only two players I can even think of as close to being as important to their team as those three guys would be Curtis Lofton and Jon Beason. Tier B would be Lofton, Beason, Stephen Tulloch, Barrett Ruud, James Laurianitis, Jonathan Vilma, Kirk Morrison, London Fletcher, DJ Williams, Karlos Dansby, DeMeco Ryans and maybe EJ Henderson. That's not even counting up and coming talents like Rolando McClain or Desmond Bishop, or perpetually injured players who would be in tier B if they could stay on the field like Paul Posluzsny or Gary Brackett. On a talent scale, is David Harris as good as any of those guys? Does he belong in the conversation of top ten in the league when he might not even be top 25 talent-wise?

David Harris is very good at what we ask him to do. He's an amazing run stopper and a halfway decent blitzer. I'm not calling him a scrub,  but I just can't help but feel like people may think a bit too highly of him.

Then again, maybe I'm just enamored with playmaking MLBs and am not content with a guy who is merely a stalwart at his position.

Gang Green Nation Kick your feet up... relax... enjoy the ride

Well, now that the post-pats celebration is a-foot, I bet that heel Wes Welker feels toe-tally bummed. The team that everybody thought was a shoe-in to win it all was just not meant ti-bia. So sad for them.

What a journey. We started these playoffs by beating the best quarterback in the history of the NFL, Got through round two by beating the best coach in the history of the NFL ( yes, I vomited when I typed that, but yaknow, it takes smarts to cheat that often and only get caught once…) and all we have to do now is beat the best franchise in the history of the NFL ( not to mention the best safety) to get to the Super Bowl. I was rooting hard for the Ravens to win, because while they are more talented than Pittsburgh overall they do have a habit of playing down to their competition, and there is no team in the NFL that capitalizes on their opponents miscues (while avoiding miscues of their own) more efficiently than the Pittsburgh Steelers. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that we’ve overcome our biggest hurdles already. The two best teams in the AFC will play for a trip to the super bowl this Sunday, and we will need to be even more perfect against them than we were last time to win this one. With Polamalu on the field, they are the best defense in the NFL since the legendary Bears defenses of yesteryear. (And that isn’t conjecture, as most of my statements tend to be. J Check the stats.)  We will need to keep them on their toes all day and I’m sure Rex is already preaching ball security.

Having said that, I feel pretty good about our chances. We’re hitting our stride at just the right time, as a defense and as an efficient offense. I was rooting for a six seed super bowl from the moment the playoffs started, though my bracket had it as an Eagles/Jets bowl. At this point, I don’t care which team we face in the big game so long as we get there. I’m not very good at ‘keys to the game’ posts and I’m sure other people will do it better, but here are the obvious ones, at least to me.

-Don’t abandon the run game. Yes, the Steelers are the toughest team in the NFL to run on, but they are also pretty darn tough to pass on if that’s what they are expecting. Keep them guessing all day.

-Sanchez can’t overthrow his targets the way he has at points in the last couple of games. Tipped balls in the vicinity of Troy Polamalu always get picked off. ALWAYS.

-Ball security. Ball security. Ball security. Nuff said.

- Identify Polamalu. On every single play. See bullet point 2. Also need to be aware of him blitzing.

-Defensively, we just need to keep playing the way we’ve been playing since the regular season ended. Roethlisberger will turn the ball over and the Steelers O-line is hurting right now. Mendenhall is a tough runner but he hesitates sometimes before he gets a full head of steam going. We need to tackle him before it happens.

- Watch those screens and quick hits. Mike Wallace can turn a three yard pattern into a twenty yard gain in a heartbeat. Give him no space, and double team him often. He isn’t polished enough yet to dominate a game if the defense doesn’t let him.

- And as fans, we just need to stock up on good grub and hope that the game doesn't come down to Nick Folk kicking in the toughest stadium to kick in in the NFL. Right?

Gang Green Nation WHY THE JETS WILL NOT WIN ANYTHING AGAIN EVER EVER EVER !!!111!!!!!1

LETS LOOK BACK IN HISTORY. 100 YEARS AGO, THE NEW YORK JETS DID NOT WIN A SINGLE GAME! AND THIS TREND CONTINUED UNTIL 1960, WHEN THE TEAM WAS FOUNDED, ONLY EVEN THEN IT WASN"T GOOD ENOUGH TO BE IN THE NFL FOR ALMOST TEN YEARS! IT TOOK TEN YEARS TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP AND THERE IS SOME SPECULATION THAT JOE NAMATH WAS ACTUALLY A ROBOT SO MAYBE EVEN THE JETS CHEATED! AND OMG THEN THE JETS HAD A STREAK OF NOT BEING IN THE PLAYOFFS SOME YEARS AND OTHER YEARS NOT WINNING SUPERBOWLS WHICH MEANS THAT THIS YEAR'S SUPREMELY TALENTED TEAM SUCKS! AND THEN JOHN ABRAHAM AND FAKE SPIKE AND BILL PARCELLS AND CHAD PENNINGTON AND KELLEN CLEMENS AND KEYSHAWN AND OMG SAME OLD JETS OY,

In conclusion...

Dear doubter and fair weather fans,

Please stick your smelly-ass, balding, dandruffy heads in a giant unflushed toilet and wash yourselves away with the rest of the excrement. Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Me

Posting and Toasting A newfound understanding...

So... I really never liked LeBron James. Now I should add a quick caveat, I would not have hated him playing for the Knicks. Really, anything that makes the Knicks relevant again cannot be a bad thing. And I have moderately high hopes that the team we are in the process of building will turn into an eight seed at least (perhaps a first round meeting with Miami...?) I am satisfied.

As for the man of the hour... I think I like him a little more than I used to. This may seem highly odd, considering the vitriol flying around this morning about his decision that I have been soaking up for the last half hour and the fact that a man I dislike signed with a team I dislike, you'd think it would be my natural reaction to pile on him. But I just can't.

I've played lots of basketball in my life, mostly at my local park. And this questionable choice to most suddenly appears to be a sensible decision to me. Forget for a moment that LeBron James, to quote a bit from one of my favorite tv shows, has the emotional maturity of a blueberry scone, and that he manipulated the media and the fans for almost an entire year leading up to this decision. Everyone is assuming he went to Miami to form a superteam, to win a handful of rings and enjoy the relaxed tax laws. I'm sure all of these contributed. But at the heart of this decision, a decision that broke the hearts of so many of my friends and the entire state of Ohio, I can't help but see the obvious. He's just a guy who wants to play with his friends. And I just can't hate him for that.

Gang Green Nation I'd like you all to join me...

in a declaration of your Holmes-osexuality. Say it loud, say it proud... I AM A HOLMESOSEXUAL!

I can't think of a downside to this deal. I was one of the few people who was still holding out hope for Brandon Marshall, but this move for the value was so much better. This should be one hell of an upcoming season. All I have to do is survive this Mets season the way I survived the Knicks season and I'll be home free watching my Jets compete for a title...
