I want to be a teacher of either Math (Middle School) or Social Studies (Middle & High School) someday. For now, I'll be substitute teaching in various districts close to home.

Also a rabid sports fan who tends to be a masochist in sporting choices.

Following (last title):
Tottenham (1960-61), Cincinnati Bengals (never), Louisville Cardinals (2013 YAY), Ottawa Senators (never), Chicago Cubs (not since 1908), Chicago Bulls (no post-MJ titles), US Men's National Team (never), Horse Racing (no Triple Crown since 1978; 8 lost in the Belmont in my life).

Following all these teams and sports more than tries my patience. That's 348 years of waiting.

My alma mater (U of L) winning it all in 2013 helps. So does remembering the last part of Jordan's Chicago days, when he should have retired for good (after '98).

Author for ADTSTC (the horse racing blog) and occasional fan-poster for CFC (Come On You Spurs) and Card Chronicle (yay U of L--2012 Alum).

The Blue Grass' Last Call on Polytrack

Bet on the horses that run around in circles in Lexington tomorrow at that track they call Keeneland. More than likely, you can ignore the winner on Derby Day, too. But hey, Keeneland for the win. Should be fun.

Keeneland Opens (Spring 2014 Edition)!

Friends, college students, fellow bettors, lend me your ears and the mutuel clerks your betting money! Preferably while leaving Keeneland with more money that you started the day with, because cashing tickets is fun.

Horses on Saturday--go bet!

Let's watch some races, shall we?

Turfway! Horses! Have At It!

My family and friends are going to Turfway Park for some races that I ordinarily wouldn't bet on, but hey, it's live racing. Why not take a shot on a Friday night?

Keeneland College Day Reflections and Picks

Figure out who to bet if you're going to College Scholarship Day at Keeneland or if you're just betting from afar.

Vacationing at Del Mar

What it says it is: we went to Del Mar for vacation for the S&B Family for the third time. Last two times in 2004 and 2006, they had dirt. Now they have polytrack. But it's still Del Mar, so it's still awesome. Here's how it went.

Saturday Racing Preview for August 17, 2013

Figure out who to bet or toss for the big races across the country at Arlington (Million Day), Saratoga (Alabama/Sword Dancer Day), and Del Mar (Del Mar Oaks Day).

The Power of Family Through Sports' Lenses

My aunt passed away today and she was a big sports fan. In February 2012, my uncle (her husband) passed away. Their love of sports and of life and how I connected to them through it all is mentioned here.

Where The Turf Meets The Surf...and the Spa

It's summer time. That means Saratoga and Del Mar are here for a bit. Time to see what horses I like (and also which ones you should avoid, many of which could be one and the same).

To Change, or Not To Change (the Triple Crown)?

It has been a LONG time since the Triple Crown's been won. My older sister hasn't seen one, and neither have I. Would changing the gaps of the races help a bit, or should we keep with the 4-5 week gaps? Let's look at past winners for proof.

Analysis of the 138th Preakness

You've heard of Orb for sure; you saw five of these other guys run in the Derby. Departing and Govenor Charlie aren't bad. Titletown Five is here because of D. Wayne Lukas & Paul Hornung. Time to see the "middle child" tomorrow in Baltimore.

Let's not forget the Preakness, guys. It rules.

We all know the Derby, we all love the Belmont when a Triple Crown could be live, but the Preakness sometimes gets neglected in the hype of it all. All three races are great. Let's show some love for racing's second jewel of America's Triple Crown.

Derby 139 Analysis and Picks

The Oaks today was strange for most of us. Here's to a bit less strange running of this year's Derby. Also, let's see if I pick a Derby winner in a non-leap year. My guide (or a "who not to bet") of the most well-known race in the world.

Find Out Who to Bet (or Avoid) in the KY Oaks!

Everyone is familiar with that race they run the first Saturday in May. The race the day before it, the Oaks, is no slouch, either. The first running of the race, they were the same day. Find out who's hot and who's not in the 139th Kentucky Oaks.

Behind the Scenes of Working Oaks & Derby (2011)

Several people have attended Oaks and Derby at Churchill Downs on the eve of Derby and the first Saturday in May. Here's what it's like to be a volunteer worker at the events (while also being a racing fan).

ZOMG Replay Feed of Title Game

If you want a replay, the feed's not the best, but it's a start. Also, ZOMG YAY NATIONAL CHAMPS WOOHOO

Arkansas Derby Analysis

The Arkansas Derby has seen some stout winners in its past. Balto Star, Afleet Alex, Curlin, and Bodemeister are a few names that come to mind.

Blue Grass Analysis

Figure out who you like or want to throw out on Blue Grass Day for the feature race at Keeneland tomorrow. On dirt, this was a dumpster fire for the Wheatley Family. On synthetic it's gone much better.
