PPPPPD1 - Week 11 Recap - Sister Kisser Edition

In this past week's RSMW, it was team Daoustmination versus the Fuzzy Bunnies. After a very close battle, the special categories ended up being the decider as Nathan Horton's shorthanded goal and Cristobal Huet's two, TWO shutouts gave Daoust the win over florida leaf.

Even with the win however, tean Daoustmination fell to 8th place (from 7th) as BTD's team blindedbytheawesome went 7-0-2 and jumped ahead to take 7th place.

PPPPPD1 - Week 10 Recap O' Goodness

You know the law: Two men enter, one man leaves. Then shortly there after, the other man leaves. While there were no chainsaws, axes, or wrist fired crossbows used in the PPP Thunderdome this past week; we now know who run ~~Bartertown~~ PPPPP. In the end it was SkinnyFish's team Datsyuk My Balls edging out Commissioner Clawson's The Moustache Rides in the battle of the number ones.

Early on, it looked to be well in favor of The Moustache Rides as Mike Richards picked up a shorty against the Islanders, and Niklas Backstrom shutout the Avalanche. But in the end it was the dynamic goaltending duo of Jon Quick and Jimmy Howard getting 4 wins on the week and Henrik Sedin continuing on his Hart Trophy? path with 7 assists (3 on the PPP) that proved to be the deciding factor. Sedin now has 41 points through 32 games, second only to Thorton's 44, and much of that was without brother Daneil in the lineup. This could be your dark horse candidate for MVP alongside Thorton and Crosby.

With the win, Datsyuk My Balls moves into sole possession of first place with this week's opponent The Newmarket Saints only 1 point behind. Definitely a big matchup this week.

It was a tough week for teams blindedbytheawesome and GottaBeKD, and they got blanked in wins and instead had to rely on ties for their only points of the week. It's been a very rough first half of the season for team GottaBeKD, hopefully she fairs betters in the homestretch. Down at the bottom Doan F With Phoenix tied Ballard's Boys by a score of 4-4-1, making them our Sister Kissers of the Week. Great Job!

Week 10 Moves and Trades

There were a lot of adds and drops last week, but no trades. Most moves were to shore up the backend as goalies and defense who have been underperforming were dropped. In a shock of a move PPP dropper Jonas Gustavsson from his team in favor of Tukka Rask. If only he could have dropped Vesa Toskala in real life.... Also dropper was early rookie sensation, now AHL rehabber Matt Gilroy. And splodeybones himself, Carlo Colaiacovo was picked up by team GottaBeKD. He will now have a leg fall off within a week.

Mess with one Overlord and you gotta mess with the other. That's what Leaf in Habland learned this week as his Newmarket Saints took on Chemmy's der Komisareks. A close battle that saw some absolutely ridiculous goaltending from both sides ended up a tie by the score of 3-3-3; which makes Chemmy and Leaf in Habland our Sister Kissers of the week!

Week 10 Moves and Trades

In terms of moves being made last week, The St. Catherine Saints manager puckurgently saw Vokoun get baseball batted in the head by Keith Ballard and immediately picked up Scott Clemmensen by dropping Steven Reinprecht, then dropped Clemmer two days later after it was confirmed that Vokoun was not in fact dead.

Daoust also made some goalies changes replacing Tuukka Rask and Antti Niemi with JSG. Apparently he doesn't like names with repeating consonents. No trades this week to speak of though because a certain someone apparently doesn't want to give up a certain defensemen for two other certain defensemen. Boring.

PPPPD1 Week 8 Recap - Karina is Victorious Edition

First off, gotta give some dap to the lovely lady from Vancouver, B.C. whose team GottaBeKD defeated article1's Sunshine on Leith by the score of 4-2-3; with wins coming in the assist, +/-, PIM, and save % categories. It was an extremly close matchup as the winner of each category only did so by one or two points; with Karina's .948 just besting article1's .923.

At the other end of the spectrum, for the third week in a row we have a new leader. Leaf in Habland's Newmarket Saints holds a 1 point lead over Clawson and his Moustache Rides. The Saints had a 4-2-3 win over PPP's Benevolent Overlords.

In other non-Karina related news, team Datsyuk My Balls now sits in first place with a win over last week's #1 The Other Vatican. It was a hard fought battle with hat tricks on both teams (Heatley and Iginla) and and shorties and PPPs aplenty. Also climbing back to the top was Doan F With Phoenix who bounced back from a hellacious 0-9-0 Week 6 and 8th place, to a 7-2-0 win against the St. Catharines Saints.

But it's crowded atop the leader board as the Top 8 teams are seperated by only 6 points. So really it's anyone's game right now as one good week could send a team from 10th to 1st with a little luck.

PPP Phantasy Puck - Week 6 Recap

Let Week 6 be a lesson to you all that you should never vote against an Overlord, because they'll just rig the results anyways. Last week's Random Showcase Matchup of the Week featured PPP's Benevolent Overlords against stucky's The Bill Barilkos. Votes were 42% for PPP and 58% for stucky.

No recounts needed though as PPP sounded beat up on the poor Leafs fan stuck in Ottawa by a score of 6-2-1, with David Perron's hat trick and Marian Gaborik's shorty assist leading the way. The Monster let down PPP posting no wins and an .800 save %, while Marty Turco's 1 win and .921 save % were the sole reason stucky got on the board last week.

Oh how the mighty have fallen as last week's overall leader OdinMercer and his team Doan F With Phoenix got blanked by Sunshine on Leith managed by article1, 9-0-0. Call it the curse of the interview if you will, as no one was willing to give their 20-cents for this week's article out of fear of getting whooped on. Therefore no more interviews for the rest of the season!

Taking back the top spot after a Week 5 hiccup is The Other Vatican led by the young tandem of Steven Stamkos and John Tavares and backstopped by King Henrik Lundqvist himself. With that kind of offense and goaltending, expect to see him near the top of the leaderboard all season long.

On the other end of the spectrum is the only lady in the pool, Karina with team GottaBeKD. She's had a tough go of things this year as her team has consistently put up really good numbers and regulare gotten the bonus points for shorties and shutouts, but just always seems to be match up with a team who has a hot week. The Law of Averages should soon start to take over and result in Karina slowly climbing the ranks. Think of her as the Toronto Maple Leafs of PPPPP; always plays well just never well enough against her opposition.

So that's why Karina and GottaBeKD are 1/2 of this week's Random Showcase Matchup of the Week! In the red corner, the challenger, standing over 3 feet tall and weighing somewhere between 100 and 800 pounds, Johnny G and The Gold Standard.

PPP Phantasy Puck D1 - Week 5 Recap

Week #5 in PPPPP Division 1 has come to a close and the big news is that there's a new sheriff in town and his name is OdinMercer. Helped along by a 6-2-1 shellacking of The Gold Standard, team Doan F With Phoenix overtook The Other Vatican who had been riding atop the leader board for 4 weeks straight.

Now I was fortunate enough to have the chance to interview the current PPPPP Division 1 leader OdinMercer of Five For Howling. Here is our Q&A:

SF: First off. Good job on being in the lead in November when it matters. So, you're team must be stacked if you're in the lead. Who are your team's 3 stars?

OM: Patrick Marleau, Ilya Bryzgalov, and Loui Eriksson

SF: How about your biggest surprise and biggest let down.

OM: Keith Yandle leading my team in PIM with 23 is a shocker and I expected more out of Stephen Weiss (4G, 3A, -8, 2 PIM, 3PPP).

I would have asked about free agent pickups, but Odin is the only person in the league to not make a free agency acquisition. In fact, the only move he has made is trading away Eric Staal, Adrian Aucoin, and JP Dumont in exchange for Shane Doan, Denis Grebeshkov, and Saku Koivu. After the Staal and Dumont injuries, Odin has come out well ahead in that trade...over yours truly. FML

SF: Lastly, any smack talk for the league?

OM: Have to be careful there... der Komisareks is a terrible team though.
