Rockets clinch, Celtics lose. Life is good.
Amazing atmosphere at the game last night. Before the game, there was a little nervousness in the air. Everyone was feeling a little deja vu from the past 12 years. As soon as game time came around though, Houston fans brought their A game. Fan energy at the beginning of the game was like the fourth quarter. "Houston...Rockets" chants broke out from the very first possession, usually not happening until later in the game.
We could smell the win in the 2nd quarter, but every time the Blazers made a couple of baskets, we'd be a little nervous, waiting for that Blazers comeback run even at 6 minutes in the 4th quarter, up 15 or so. Never came. Rockets countered every time, like in Game 1. Fans cheered hungry. Team played hungry.
The "Beat El Lay" chants at 2 min left were sweet music. Haven't heard that from us in a long time. Atmosphere after the game in the halls and on the streets around the Toyota center was like we just won the championship. Honking, chanting, cheering from car windows, celebrating like we haven't for 12 years.
Finally a successful season (ironically without McGrady). Let's see if we can't give LA a run for their money or perhaps another Sampson miracle shot. We're back, baby!
And for Sat night, Go Bulls!
Let's avoid the "Portland sucks" chants, Houston.
I was really disappointed in the "Portland sucks" chants in Game 3. It was coming mostly from the Portland side of the bench, the seats behind that end of the basket.
We have more class than that. Portland fans took it out on the refs at their home. They showed real respect for our team at their house, gave Deke a standing ovation. We should do the same.
Energy and rowdiness is great, but let's not turn Houston into Utah.
