On Tuesday, Metta World Peace said while he was playing for the Sacramento Kings in 2007, he 'politicked' for then-assistant coach Scott Brooks to take over as Kings coach.
Coach Scott Brooks would have traded Metta World Peace — just kidding.

It seems we keep finding additional gems about Sacramento Kings’ point guard, Isaiah Thomas. Here is another. Right now, Thomas ranks highest among Sacramento Kings' players in terms of points per shot (PPS) in the 2011-2012 season according to stats from ESPN.
Isaiah Thomas A King of Efficiency by Marilyn Kenyon for A Royal Pain
The Maloof family does not want to be in Sacramento.
Think about anything you have ever wanted like a relationship or even a job. If you want nothing else than to get hired or fall in love, you don’t give up. You take risks and you figure out a way to make your dreams happen.
The owners of the Sacramento Kings have shown none of that here.

One Door Closes Another One Opens...
It is the end of another season, a bitter-sweet one for me and many of you. It is bitter because our dreams for a new arena with the Kings has essentially been dashed, but sweet because at least that chapter has ended making way for something new and hopefully sweeter in the future.
First of all, I want to apologize to any of you whom I may have offended, either intentionally or unintentionally. I hold no personal animosity to anyone here. None, zip, nada. If you hold one toward me, I am sorry for that. I hope there will not be any lasting grudges and allow a new chapter to unfold with a clean slate.
I have decided to change my avatar. I loved the photoshop one of Cousins as Yoda and want to thank ExG for allowing me to use it. I decided to use a female, well, because I am a female. I feel as though I am an outlier, being female and significantly older than most of you are here. I often feel as though I am a square peg trying to fit into a round hole. (Pause)
I want to thank everyone who responded to any of my fanposts or comments. I think anyone who spends anytime posting comments in this community, learns that the feedback touches you personally. There is some vulnerability just to put yourself out there. Feelings can and do get hurt. I know mine have, so I’m pretty sure some of yours have, as well. An apology by someone who inadvertently hurt my feelings was one of the most touching moments I have had posting comments here.
This is a difficult format to communicate feelings and intentions, because we are not face-to-face. We can not read each one's facial expressions or hear the tone or inflection of our voices. Misinterpretations are not uncommon here. I am just as guilty of misinterpreting things which are written to me.
I didn’t intend to write what I wrote above; it just came out, so I will leave it. I was going to write a personal thank you to all of you. I could list names of people who touched my life in one way or another this past season here on StR, but it would comprise just about everyone here. If you think you might be one of them, you probably are. I won’t list your names, because inevitably I will leave someone off. Just know that you have made a difference.
One last thing, I have enjoyed being a part of StR. No matter what happens in the future, the passion of Sacramento Kings fans is unparalleled. People here do make a difference to each other and to the community at large.

Head Shot RageThe New York Times NBA Blog By LYNN ZINSER
Considering the Artest-era history, the league could have justified something much longer and, as Bill Plaschke writes in The Los Angeles Times, the Lakers are very lucky to escape World Peace’s latest lapse with only seven games. They are far luckier than poor Harden, whose future remains clouded by his concussion. Chris Mannix of SI.com joins the chorus usually heard with N.H.L. suspensions and decries the N.B.A.’s unwillingness to send a harsher message. But Ken Berger of CBSSports.com lauds the league for not overreacting, although it is hard to argue that a league can take head injuries too seriously.
Metta World Peace Meets Taiwanese Animation
Taking a different view of Metta World Peace's recent mishap
1. Hollywood Griffin: The main storyline in this game is pretty easy. All eyes will be focused on Blake Griffin and DeMarcus Cousins after the two shoved each other, and nearly came to blows in the Clippers' 93-85 win over the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night. After the game, when Griffin refused to discuss the incident, Cousins said, “Of course that's what Blake is going to say because he's in L.A., where actors belong. He's an actor, so of course he would say that." When Cousins was asked about his fifth foul on Griffin with more than a minute left in the game, he said, “I guess the wind from my hand hit him in the eye and I guess he got fouled by the wind. I'm not sure.” Needless to say there may be some unfinished business between the two 48 hours later. What to watch Clippers-Kings by Arash Markazi, ESPNLosAngeles.com

DeMarcus Cousins vs Greg Monroe: Who Do Sacramento Kings Fans Really Want?
Simmon's ranked Monroe over Cousins in his 12th annual ranking of NBA's top 50 most valuable assets.
What seemed to rankle Sacramento fans was Simmon's assertion that Sacramento would do an even swap for Monroe in a heartbeat. Here is what Simmon's had to say:
Just know that Sacramento would flip Boogie for Monroe in a cocaine heartbeat … and if the roles were reversed, Detroit would hang up.
So what do Sacramento Kings fans really think?
@sportsguy33 Unscientific poll shows 92% #SacramentoKings fans would NOT trade Cousins for Monroe and only 2% would http://sbn.to/Afbb6B

Game Notetaking: My Ideas and Soliciting Yours
via multimedia.heraldinteractive.com
Ziller gives us his pregame thoughts; HT gives pre-game analysis; and Aykis provides an almost instantaneous recap of the game along with weekly predictions from Nostradumass.
I have thought about taking a few notes while I watch the games and have wondered how many of you do. Aykis has his own system he uses to prepare his recaps. Perhaps some of you have your own system, which you have devised over the years.
I have come up with a few ideas of my own, but I am interested in what things you do. There are times I wish that I would have taken note of an amazing play or questionable ref call noting the time remaining on the game clock. Maybe it is just as simple as that; have a note pad and pencil on hand when watching the game and make a note of it. Pretty simple.
A few weeks ago Smart had some questionable rotations, which appeared to compromise the game. Later, I regretted not having made a note of those lineups and when they appeared during the game. (I don't have Tivo. I just record the game on my television. So, I don't have the luxury of winding or rewinding to watch a certain play).
Here are some of the ideas I have come up with and I am interested in your feedback on any and all of them.

Maloofs move significantly to meet Sac's proposal
Nice article by Aaron Bruski of NBC sports.
Here's a quote:
"And there were many more. They were extremely organized, and they numbered in thousands. And for all the heavy hitters that drove the process, they wouldn’t have gotten past first base if the local media and pols didn’t have the political cover those fans provided. Everywhere you turned, it was #HereWeThis and #HereWeThat, supplemented by the education-driven #FANS group that hammered home the message that the arena was #BiggerThanBasketball. The curious case of the Sacramento Kings will be written about by social media experts for years."
And another, describing the feelings of many of us today:
"For now though, none of that matters. Kings fans that have been on pins and needles for well over a year – and they finally get to take a day off. Even those of us in the media covering the story on a daily basis, we’ll take a breath and just enjoy a good story that ended well. And if you own a bar in the Sacramento area tonight, it’s probably a good time to make some purple beer."

Keith Smart: Body Language Says It All - A Contrast in Style
Contrast this openness of expression, with his wide reaching arms to this:
This seems to reflect more a closed stance.
Sure, these are completely different different body postures, depicting two completely different emotional states, in completely different circumstances. But, I think that as fans, we became far more accustomed to seeing the "closed" Paul Westphal in contrast to the more "open" Smart.
Fairly easy to see which person you might prefer to get guidance from.

Court Report: Isaiah Thomas
From Yahoo Sports by Matt Buser - Roto Arcade – 15 hours ago, Isaiah gets a nice little write-up
Person of Interest: Jeremy Lin
We're Kings fans, but this is a captivating story of a basketball player.
What I was trying to describe was the very strange, specific, and rare pride one feels when watching one of their own succeed in a forbidden field. - Jay Caspian Kang
Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson fights to keep Kings from moving to Seattle
"I certainly wish Seattle well," said the mayor who played 14 years in the NBA. "With that said, we can control our own destiny in Sacramento. We are going to do our part. And I think we are going to figure out a way to pull it off."
A Micromoment in Time

It was in the fourth quarter, down to the final seconds of the game, with the Sacramento Kings leading the Oklahoma City Thunder by two points, when Tyreke Evans ran across the court to his teammate DeMarcus Cousins to create this micromoment in time. This moment, which expresses so much, which arouses feelings in the people who look at it, tells a story.
It all happened so quickly, Tyreke seeking out Cousins. Had it not been for the camera which captured the moment, it might have gone by virtually unnoticed, unwitnessed even by those in attendance. In this brief snapshot, so much is expressed between these two men, in a time of emotional excitement and tension in an arena filled with charged electrical energy with screaming fans cheering on a team on the verge of victory.
We cannot escape the love and respect that is expressed between these two teammates, who are sharing an emotional peak experience together. Do I dare say tenderness? Who cannot feel emotion when looking at this photo? It tugs at your heart. It is a step along a path, a journey, which we are witness to. A burgeoning relationship between two young men, who were coached by Coach Calipari at their respective colleges of Memphis and Kentucky. As fans, we are outsiders, only getting glimpses into the lives of our players. We are voyeurs, wanting to be a part of the whole experience. Players develop their own bond with each other. They have to get along with each other, weather the disappointments of defeat and share the glory of victory. They have to work together to be successful. They have to grow together as a unit; be strong, be vulnerable, and be open to the moment. They shared a bit of themselves, in the emotion of the moment, captured for a micromoment in time.
via i43.tinypic.com
via media.sacbee.com
Update - Video of game added:Update: I have added the video of the Kings and Thunder with a breakdown of events which occurred immediately before the micromoment: * 49.4 Seconds - Russell Westbrook steps out-of-bounds for a turnover * 39.2 Seconds - Tyreke drives down center of paint, gets fouled, gets FTs * 32.5 Seconds - Durant launches 3-point attempt, with Tyreke defending him * 32.2 Seconds - Shot misses * 31.1 Seconds - Cousins looking at ball at rim moving toward it * 30.6 Seconds - Westbrook jumps trying to get rebound * 28.1 Seconds - Cousins gets possession of rebound
* 27.4 Seconds - Westbrook comes up behind Cousins to foul him Clock is stopped * 24.4 Seconds - Tyreke witnesses this and immediately runs toward Cousins * 24.4 Seconds - Tyreke reaches his teammate to connect with him
Amazing: It all happened so quickly, one can only ponder what was going through Tyreke's mind and what was going through Cousin's in the moment.

Demarcus and Haywood, on Saturday, January 28, at the Jazz
Demarcus' eyes are saying, "Back off, Bro."
On the fans cheering Jimmer Fredette
"I have never seen anything like that. That’s crazy the way he gets that recognition. I thought Jay-Z or someone had walked up, but it was just Jimmer. So it’s crazy."
Utah Jazz's Alec Burks thinks it's Jay-Z, but it's really Jimmer
Should Fredette be named to the NBA Rookie All-Star Team?
There's been a dearth of Jimmer Fredette coverage on here lately, so it seemed appropriate to bring this piece from the Sacramento Bee. They also have a poll on who is the best rookie. Course we all know that is Jimmer. It will be interesting to see how Jimmer does today playing in Utah.

Pondering the game
He becomes one with the flow
Seizing the moment
Being behind near the end of a game is like hitting the wall in a marathon - trying to pry loose the ball from a team smelling victory and from opposing fans getting boisterous and jubilant. But what sublime feeling - to keep the pressure on, to keep trying, to push yourself just a little bit longer - to make a game-winning steal. It takes a great player to do that, and despite the way it may look, it is never luck. - From Stuff Good Players Should Know, by Dick Devenzo, original publication date 1983

Dwight Howard leads all Players on All Star Ballot Returns
Be sure to vote for your favorite Sacramento Kings players. Tyreke Evans and Marcus Thornton are listed as guards. Cousins is listed as a center. You can also write in Jimmer or Isaiah Thomas. Vote everyday, forward your picks to family and friends, and get them involved.
Smart emphasizes Trust
"Smart began to win over Cousins last month during training camp. Cousins said Smart, then a first-year Kings assistant coach, told him he found Cousins not to be the malcontent he had been told he was before joining the Kings."
So, it appears that while Westphal was busy tearing Cousins down, Smart was behind the scenes building Demarcus up.
Smart move.

A Poll: 10 Reasons to Fire Westphal
via a323.yahoofs.com
There is growing sentiment to fire Coach Paul Westphal, intensifying after recent events surrounding the management of player DeMarcus Cousins. The sentiment is not a new one, with a growing body asking for his head because of the team's performance this season, following the win against the Lakers in the season opener. Many reasons have been cited to fire him, with differing views. Some contend it is not a matter of whether to fire him, but when - now or later.KingsBlog
