Big Cat Country Trading Partners, the Miami Dolphins?

All the trading down talk with the Jaguars #7 pick is the Chiefs coming up to get Tannehill before the Dolphins at #8. Or the Browns coming up from #22 to get Tannehill before the Dolphins. Do the Seahawks come up and get him? I have even heard from Philly fan that they are talking about coming up to get Tannehill to replace Vick. You hear about the Jets coming up to get Ingram. Or if one of the Big 6 fall, and a team really wants that one that falls, do they come up and get him. Obviously Gene has made it known he is willing to trade back. One team I don't understand why we haven't heard much about coming up, is the Dolphins. Why not? Obviously Gene isn't going to take Tannehill, but is willing to trade back, so if you are the Dolphins, and you think someone is coming up to get Tannehill at #7, and that is who they want, why not make a trade to move up one spot? Is that totally worth it? I am not sure how often it even take place (teams switching spots by 1 position in order). I think if the Dolphins really want him, this could occur. Is my logic correct, or does this theory not make any sense? What are your thoughts?

Big Cat Country Shad Khan's Action Plan

Business 101 is that all successful businesses have a Mission Statement. I consider new owners Shad Khan's to be (based on his interview yesterday) "Whatever It Takes". Based on that, and taking him on his word and with this assumption that he is going to come in here and blow this thing up and spend $, here are the steps I believe he should take.

1. Name a Team President. It doesn't sound like Khan will be as involved with the day-to-day operations as much as Wayne was, so he must name someone he trusts (and currently outside the organization) to run his team.

2. Hire a new General Manager (from outside the organization). As much as it pains me to say this, as I have always been in the "In Gene We Trust" crowd, results speak for themselves. He is not drafting home runs in the Top 10, which is what he needs to be doing. I know the excuses and the limitations he has been given, but he has been here since Day 1. He is part of the problem, not part of the solution.

3. Head Coach needs to be offensive minded, but who we get depends on who is willing to come in here and work with Blaine Gabber (assuming Gene is still in place, he isn't going to draft a QB). If Shad comes in on Jan. 4 and Gene is gone, then Blaine is fair game, and I believe it expands your Head Coaching search, as you give the tools to your new GM and new HC to get "their" guy.

4. Free Agency obviously needs to focus on re-building the offense. A. Wide Recievers. Go after the Jacksons, Vincent and DeSean. Only WR i would keep are Thomas and Osgood. All the other ones are fair game in camp. B. Offensive Line: Meester is simpley too old, so we need a younger Center. Right Tackle needs to be addressed with Whimper (and Britton). I think Monroe is fine, Rackley has potential and Uche is solid enough. C. D-End. I honestly not even sure who the big FA DEs are, but go get someone who is relatively young and not injured, even if they aren't the big superstar. D. Cornerback. Rasheen is a big ? mark and Cox is injury pronge, so let's go out and get another younger FA CB.

5. Players to be released/not on final 53 next season: Kampman, Meester, Whimper, Dillard, West, G. Jones, Mathais. These are mainly starters who are older, or younger players who just haven't developed. Time to move on.

6. Trade Back in First Round. Blackmon will likely be gone, so trade back and get another pick in rounds 1-3, get us up to at least 4 total. BAP in WR, DE, CB and OL. More picks for a change, not less.

7. Serioulsy evaluate the Strength and Conditioning program and determine whether Luc Richardsson's program is what this organization should be following. Injuries are part of the game, but 27 (and probably more) is enough to take time to make consideration, rather than just brushing it off as being unlucky.

I am sure there is more to consider, but these are my initial thoughts.

Big Cat Country IMPROVEMENT? REALLLY?

Briefly listening to Wayne Weaver today, he reiterated the improvement/progress theme throughout his comments.  He felt the Jaguars season this year was improved upon last year, and cited numerous stats to back his arguments (like Garrad's 4th quarter QB Rating of all things).  He cited players input, their voice and opinions about JDR as Head Coach and the improvements he made.  He cited his personal observations and how he wants Jack to act as a Head Coach.  He has (once again) set offseason goals and challenges to hold people accountable within the organization, though he did this last year, he didn't elaborate if those goals were met or improved upon in 2010. The one thing he failed to mentioned/strongly emphasized once was Wins and Losses.  In my opinion, that is the most important quantible measurable when determining improvement and progress in the NFL.  It is all about Wins and Losses in the NFL.  You have heard the old saying, a Win is a Win in the NFL and you take them anyway you can get them.  That got me to thinking as to what teams really improved their W/L records in 2010 compared to 2009.  And where do the Jaguars rank in that compared to other improving teams.

This is the only video posted to YouTube taken from the stands of the Hail Mary. There seemed to be about a dozen or so of the Scobee kick against the Colts, but only one so far of the Hail Mary.

Big Cat Country 4-3? Why not?

Yes, I know.  4-3.  Yeah right.  No way.  Are you kidding me?  Did you see what happened Monday night!  But what if we go into Arrowhead and win.  4-3.  It is not all that crazy to think (is it)?  Why not an up this week.  This season  has been up, down, down, up, up, down, .... Why not up with a win this week?

Big Cat Country Tips for Jaguars Game on a Budget

For those of you still are looking to purchase tickets to a Jaguars game, but are careful with your money, I wanted to list some tips on how to save some money at Jaguars games, or get more "power with your punch" of your hard earned dollar at Everbank Field.  After the break, I listed some of the (few) tips I know on how to get value at a Jags game.  Yes this is hard with $7 beers, $5 hot dogs, $25 parking and $20 t-shirts, but if you "Clark Howard" yourself, you can enjoy the game for the price of a ticket and as little as an extra $20 bill in your wallet.  I have only been going to games for the last few years and will be a first time season ticket holder this year so I don't know all the "ins and outs", so some of you "veterans", please feel free to add your experiences well as looking for other ideas to save!

I believe the July 15, 2010 Fuel Gauge update was 10,683 tickets to be sold to avoid blackouts. The Fuel Gauge on jaguars.com wasn't updated as of late last night and now I can't get it to load. The T-U has the new total printed in today's paper at 10,410. I might be off a few numbers here or there, but if my math is right, that is only 273 tickets sold last week! I really wasn't worried about sales, but now I am, especially after I read somewhere that if the Jags do the Mini-Packs, those expected sales come out of the 8,000 count in Group/Single Games sales. If those numbers come out of the 8,000, then I am starting to get worried. I assumed if they sold 2000 mini-packs, those numbers would come of the 5000 or so left to be sold to the public, not the 5000 or so that come out of group sales.

Big Cat Country TEAL DEALS

What have you used so far?  Hopefully the business owners who have participated in this program are seeing results and increased business due to the Teal Deals program from Jaguars season tickets holders.  I was at the Loop last night and saw 3 sitting right near the register, so they are getting used.

There is a banner on Jaguars.com says less than 3000 Teal Deals books left, free with your purchase of Season Tickets. First, I thought this offer was only good until May 31? When did they extend the deadline (which I think is fine)? Second, if only 3000 Teal Deals books left, assuming the 6200 is left per the TD Jax Tweet last week, then does that mean the Jaguars have moved 3000 tickets over the last week or so?

Well, might as well pack it up because the season is over and we are moving to LA!

Good news today! Only 8256 to go and if you minus out the 5142 of G/SG ticket sales (assuming Jags sell the 8000 they said they could) that means only 3114 to go for sale to the general public.

Sorry to bring this up today, but it looks like the Vikings are in the final stages of getting an answer or not whether they get a new Stadium. Keep an eye on this storty to see how this develops over the next few weeks.
