When I casually asked bullpen coach Eddie Perez, who threw the BP pitches, why Prado had chosen to keep his mother there so late, he said, "She’s the one who told him to stay in there until he got things right.

Forget Roy Halladay or Clayton Kershaw or Cliff Lee, the NL Cy Young Award should go to O’Ventrel.

How Livan beat us in 1997
I always had the feeling something weird was going on during this series.
Mets looking at Minor
Minor for a few months of Beltran? Not that I take trade rumors too seriously, I dont know what to think about this one.

Some awesome things about last night...
It was not easy being in the bleachers in Braves gear last night. All the times i've seen the Braves at ATT didn't really prepare me for the hostile playoff atmosphere, but man was it worth it. My highlights:
Braves' new world
I'm sitting around yesterday thinking that even if we do squeeze into the playoffs, how can we expect to compete as beat up as we are. Well Buster was thinking the same thing...
Even better than the Derek Lowe Win is the Derek Lowe No Decision in which the Braves offense covers up a bad outing, but a more deserving bullpen gets the win.
Salary vs. Performance
Fun little Java app I found a couple of years ago and didn't know it was still up.
Being a Braves Fan Pays Off
I am a Braves fan that lives just south of Silicon Valley. I went into the Apple Store today to see if someone at the Genius Bar could resurrect my out of warranty iphone. Well the iPhone specialist immediately says to me "Braves fan?" when he sees my cap.
Wren on 790
Some interesting things in Wren's interview on 790 today. When told about how fans wanted a 30hr 100rbi guy, he says that they are in the mix for someone who fits that description. He also goes on to say that there are some guys interested in playing for atlanta. His comments sounded pretty specific, thoughts on who he might be talking about?

Props to the OT Hardcore
I just wanted to give props to the OT hardcore (you know who you are) who kept it real this year. I live way out in California, so these threads gave me a much needed chance to bitch and complain (j/k, i know it wasn't all bitching and complaining) with informed and dedicated fans. I couldn't make it on as much as i'd like to have, (often i'm taking care of family stuff while listening to the games on my iphone), but it was nice to log on when i could and see a good core of people holding down the fort. Hope to see you guys next spring!
Infante nearing return
Just noticed this on the AJC's website:
Utility man Omar Infante could be activated as soon as Tuesday. He’s been out nearly three months recovering from a broken hand. He was 5-for-17 with three walks in his first five games for Class A Rome, including two hits Saturday
very exciting news, it's almost like landing a good trade. bye bye diory. now if we only had a good pitch hitter coming back that could replace norton
JV getting some props
Jon Paul Morosi from foxsports did an article about who he would pick for the all star pitching staffs and has Vazquez (picked over Santana, no less).
"The final spot among veteran starters goes to Vazquez over Santana. Vazquez has quietly had one of the best seasons in the NL this year, with more strikeouts and fewer walks than Santana — and a comparable ERA."
Good to see a sportswriter looking at the whole picture and not just win/loss.
