Mizzou’s Mike Anderson To Receive Key To City of St. Louis May 22

Anderson slated to throw out first pitch that evening at Cardinals-Royals Series Opener

The City of St. Louis and the St. Louis Cardinals will recognize the tremendous accomplishments of the Missouri Basketball program on May 22 (Friday) as Head Coach Mike Anderson and his team will be the recipient of the Key to the City from Mayor Francis Slay, before throwing out the first pitch that evening in the I-70 Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals.

Anderson will open the day speaking with area youth at Judge Jimmie Edwards’ office in the Family Court – Juvenile Division at 11:30 a.m. Anderson will then meet Mayor Slay for lunch and will be presented with the Key to the City at 1 p.m. in a presentation at City Hall (1200 Market Street).

“Wow, what a tremendous honor,” Anderson said. “I can’t tell you how appreciative we are, my team and family included, to receive this recognition. I want to thank Mayor Slay, the St. Louis Cardinals and of course all the great Tiger fans in St. Louis.”

Anderson, his team and family will then attend the 7:15 p.m. contest between the Cardinals and Royals at Busch Stadium, with the third-year Tiger sideline boss throwing out the first pitch. Anderson will appear on the Fox Sports Midwest at the top of the third inning with Cardinals announcers Dan McLaughlin and Al Hrabosky, before joining Ryan Fefebvre and Frank White in the Fox Sports Kansas City booth in the bottom of the third.

Missouri is recently coming off a school record 31-7 campaign, a Big 12 Tournament Championship and a berth into the NCAA Tournament’s Elite Eight. The 31 wins were a school record for Mizzou and the Tigers received tremendous contributions from St. Louis native Matt Lawrence. Lawrence was one of four Mizzou seniors this past season and he finished his career #2 in three-point makes at Missouri with 244. Those 244 triples also ranked #8 in Big 12 Conference history and his 13-point effort in the Elite Eight vs. Connecticut pushed the former Lafayette High School star over the 1,000-point plateau for his Tiger career.

Tough draw for MU - going to Baton Rouge as a 2 seed to play the #3 overall LSU tigers. (Along with Middle Tennessee State and Tulane.)

I guess there are no really easy draws, but I've been to games there - tough place to play.

Aparently there is a Roast of MU AD Mike Alden coming up in a few weeks. He will be on our show this afternoon to help promote the event and the charity that will benefit from a good turnout.

If you had a chance to "roast" Mr. Alden, what would you say?

And I don't mean stuff like "I wouldn't ____ Mike Alden with Lisa Lampenelli's ______."
