Elton Brand to be Amnestied

Chad Ford Mock Draft 9.0

Not sure if it's allowable to post the entire mock draft since it's insider, so I'll just post the Warriors pick: 1. Davis 2. TR 3. Beal 4. Barnes 5. MKG 6. Lillard 7: Drummond Analysis: The Warriors are desperate to add an athletic big to their front line. So Drummond should be a no-brainer, right? Wrong. The front office and ownership also love players with a great motor, which Drummond lacks. But while he's not an ideal fit, I don't think the Warriors will be able to pass on Drummond if he slides this far. If they do pass on him, however, Dion Waiters and Tyler Zeller are in the mix. The dark-horse pick is Washington's Terrence Ross. Jerry West is a big fan and was the mastermind behind last year's Klay Thompson pick. Ross isn't a perfect fit either, but the Warriors will focus on collecting assets at this point.

The Bulls have privately assured Luol Deng that there's "no chance" of a deal sending him to the Warriors

Well. It was a nice thought while it lasted. Looks like we'll be heading into the draft with the 7th pick. I do have a feeling the Warriors could throw us a draft curve ball though.

ESPN: How top 10 picks could play out

"The Warriors have a history of taking long, athletic players who are more about upside than production. I don't see that happening this year -- not under the new ownership and new front office. If the top six players on our Big Board are all off the board on draft day, I see the Warriors focusing on more established players. I put Ohio State's Jared Sullinger at No. 7 in the mock, and he could be the choice. The Warriors like him. But the more I sift through the information I'm getting, the more I think we might see Kentucky's Terrence Jones here. Not every team is convinced he's a 3, but if the Warriors think he can play that position, I could see them pulling the trigger. There's lots of upside there if you can overlook the poor body language and inconsistency. We have Jones sliding to No. 16 in our latest mock. That's probably his floor. I think No. 7 may be his ceiling. One other name to discuss in Golden State is Iowa State's Royce White. The Warriors love him. However, he canceled his workout with the team because of an injury. The suspicion, however, is that he's still dealing with some anxiety issues over travel. If he can overcome that and prove to NBA teams that he can get on a plane and get anywhere on a moment's notice, my guess is he sky-rockets up the draft board and could be in play as high as No. 7."

Monta's Grandmother died yesterday

Must be a really tough time right now for Ellis with all of these intersecting personal issues.

"Bismack Biyombo played one-against-none today … and he lost."

A lot of us have major Bismack Biyombo wing-span sized hard-ons for Bismack Biyombo, but let's just remind ourselves that despite the heaps of potential, he is a serious work in progress.

Mike Malone will interview next week

Rick Adelman on Warriors' short list

According to Rich Bucher, as well as Yahoo, Rick Adelman is on the Warriors' short list for coaching candidates now that Mike Brown has elected to coach in LA. This contradicts the article I posted yesterday, so I guess the moral of the story one really knows what's going on behind the scenes.

Warriors narrow coaching search to 5?

Well I can't exactly say "narrow" if there's 5 coaches in consideration....Also, where's Dwayne Casey in this list? Anyway here's the key part of this article: Meanwhile, Warriors management – bolstered by the addition of Hall of Fame consultant Jerry West – remains focused on a list of five remaining candidates the team has spoken with about its head coaching vacancy: Lakers assistants Brian Shaw and Chuck Person; Hornets assistant Michael Malone; ABC/ESPN broadcaster Mark Jackson; and Frank. The team also had spoken with former Cavs coach Mike Brown, who was hired Wednesday to replace Phil Jackson as coach of the Lakers.

Poole: Smallish backcourt isn't shortcoming of Golden State Warriors

Interesting article here by Monte Poole comparing the current Warriors backcourt to that of the old Phoenix Suns. I agree with his assertion that if we're moving forward with a small backcourt, we better get some enforcers behind them.

Warriors Hire Bob Myers as assistant GM and extend Larry Riley

Link on CSN, also saying Larry Riley will be extended: Tim Kawakami's piece on the move: Oh also, TK alert. edit: confirmed by yahoo Woj: "Myers played ball for UCLA and rose rapidly under Arn Tellem. Myers has great relationships, knows game. This is a smart, creative hire. " "Phoenix hired agent Lon Babby, but Myers is a much stronger basketball man. "This is a great hire," one Western Conf GM texted. "Love it." "

ESPN Insider: Monta Ellis vs. Russell Westbrook

I'm not sure who Chris Palmer is but this is an Interesting read here. There's one tidbit that I hadn't heard about before: "He's already vowed to put on at least 10 pounds by next season so he won't get pushed around as easily." Has anyone else heard that Monta will add weight this summer? This is the first time I've heard it and a link/source would be helpful.
