RENTON -- Matt Hasselbeck, the Seahawks' sore-kneed quarterback, is likely out for Sunday's must-win game against the Green Bay Packers, coach Mike Holmgren said Friday.

That means No. 3 QB Charlie Frye will start, because backup Seneca Wallace is nursing a sore calf. Wallace is expected to be the backup.

"He's restricted, and we're just not going to put him at risk out there," Holmgren said of Hasselbeck.

Hasselbeck hyperextended his knee early in last week's loss to the New York Giants. He was expected to practice Friday and play against the Packers, but his knee has not responded to treatment.

"Matt still can't do much with his leg," Holmgren said. "It's not ligaments, it's not anything like that. It's just sore."

Holmgren stopped short of completely ruling Hasselbeck out, saying it would be a game-day decision. But Hasselbeck playing seems like a long shot.

"I have got to feel like he's not too vulnerable out there," Holmgren said.

With Hasselbeck out and Wallace practicing for the first time Friday, Frye got all the snaps with the Seahawks offense this week.

I suggest we all start drinking heavily.

Hiya. Just wanted to say that we at KSK heard about your new internship via your Dad’s column. In case you’ve stopped reading it — don’t worry, most of us have — here’s what he said:

7. I think in the interest of full disclosure, I want to report that my daughter, Mary Beth King, has taken a PR internship with the Seattle Seahawks for the season. It’s going to sound hollow to say I had nothing to do with it, but I didn’t. She applied without telling me. New family rule: Mary Beth does not share conversations with Matt Hasselbeck or Mike Holmgren with her father.

I don’t think we’ve ever been properly introduced, but it just so happens that I’m one of the more enthusiastic Seahawks fans in this neck of the Inter-woods, so I thought I’d say hello.
