MVP baby!
Not a real big surprise but always cool to have the league MVP on your beloved team. Aaron Rodgers was officially announced as the NFL Most Valuable Player, getting 48 out of 50 votes. He did not win offensive player of the year - that trophy will go Drew Bress' way.
And let me just say this: it won't be his last. We should all be thankful for having this guy locked in behind center at Lambeau for the 2010s.

Possible solution to touchback issue
Much has been made since football was back about the rule change that determined kickoff are to be advanced to the 35-yard line. Many have expressed their disappointment with the change, with claims of softening of the NFL and a decrease in excitement.
I consider myself to be on the disgruntled side of the arguments - kickoffs as they are right now are a useless part of the game. They do not provide an advantage to a particular team for having better skills and talent (every kicker in the league can boot it well beyond the goal-line from the 35-yard line), nor do they make for interesting TV.
Great piece at ESPN on Donald Driver telling Rodgers to pull out of the Lions game
DD is one of the league's best persons and here's another reason why. It may have cost the Packers short-term, but there's only to gain from it in the long run, both for Air-Rod and for the team.
End to the questions: Flynn will start at NE, Rodgers is out
It's unfortunate, but the right decision. Aaron Rodgers will have to see a starting streak of his own finish at 45 Sunday night at New England, as JS reported he will sit. Matt Flynn will start his first career game vs. the Patriots. Graham Harrell was promoted to the 53-men roster, replacing Anthony Smith who became the 14th Packer, and 3rd safety, on IR.
I always feel the Packers can win a game, but in this case it's extremely unlikely. The only way I see we can make it possible is if we force another slugfest like we did at the Jets, and maybe, just maybe, eek out a W. We'll need the D to provide some points via a pick-6 or just takeaways to set the offense for easy scores, and the (not so) special teams to not put us in bad positions.
Even tonight you got some bad news - Al Harris to be released
Even on a night the Packers manhandle the Cowgirls, we still have to hear some unfortunate news. Multiple sources reported that Al Harris said he will be released, not activated, on Monday. Apparently Al did not recover well enough from the knee injury he suffered exactly 12 months ago, and the Packers feel he can't contribute any more. After 7.5 seasons with the Packers, this seems to be it.
I'd hate it if the Viqueens claimed him, but I wish #31 to succeed going forward.
JerMichael Finley likely done for the season
I'm sorry to be the one bringing the bad news, but here goes: Greg Bedard is reporting that JerMichael Finley's injury is worse than predicted and he may be out for the rest of the year. Here is the quote from the Journal Sentinel:
After Greg Bedard also reported on his Twitter account that tight end Jermichael Finley will be out longer than the original three weeks expected following surgery, there is a new update. Bedard has learned from a source that the surgery revealed more damage than initially thought and that Finley is likely done for 2010.
If you haven't already, now will be a good time to press the panic button.
Just wanted to point something out regarding the run game
This is why I'm sick of Mike McCarthy's play-calling. The Green Bay Packers are tied for 26th in the league for rush attempts per game. Of the 5 top teams in that list, you have the 4-1 Falcons, the 3-1 Chiefs, 4-1 Jets and 4-1 Ravens. The Ravens, BTW, ran for 114 yards per game so far, while the Packers ran for 107 yards per game, which is to say it's not necessarily that we are not capable of running the ball. So If you think passing the ball in this league will win you games, you've got another thing coming.

Are you kidding me?! Aaron Rodgers suffers concussion
Yeah, we really didn't suffer enough injuries. And sure, the players that got hurt weren't important enough. So guess what now - Aaron Rodgers finished the game with a concussion. And with the NFL's strict rules, it's tough to see how he plays next week against the Dolphins. He joins an injury list that contains Clay Matthews, JerMike Finley, Nick Barnett, Ryan Grant, Morgan Burnett, Ryan Pickett - and i just got started.
Forget about Marshawn Lynch, Bills sent him to Seahawks
Only way I can see that we bring another RB is if they decide Nance isn't good enough and they bring a different practice team-type RB, or just wait on Starks and Porter.
Move Al Harris to Safety
There's a big mystery hovering over Ted Thompson's plans this off-season, and one of the biggest issues is at the secondary. The Packers can do a number of things to address the problem: sign free agents Bigby, Collins and Blackmon; Draft DB's in the first rounds; Draft 'em late; sign free agents from other teams ('though the pool is trimming).
But one option I have yet to encounter is moving Al Harris to the strong safety position alongside Nick Collins. Not only is Harris 35 years-old, he is coming off an ACL, so it's difficult to imagine him back at full speed and strength come training camp.
Al is arguably the Packers best tackler and run stopper among DB's, so you know he's well equipped to play strong safety. Meanwhile, Tramon Williams showed he is more than capable to be a starting CB in the NFL and has long years ahead of him as a top notch CB - so all that's left is to fill the depth chart with a couple of good rookies with plenty of upside. And of course, probably the most asked-for move - release Jarrett Bush!
What you think?
A great piece on Kevin Greene
Dunno if you saw this but it's gold. I wasn't aware it was his first year as a coach, and I hope we'll enjoy his work for years to come. He really helped Clay Matthews become The Claymaker.
Charles Woodson is your Defensive Player Of The Year
We've been waiting for months to see if Chuck would get the recognition he deserves, and today it finally became official. Woodson got 28 of the 50 votes, ahead of Darrelle Revis who got 14.
Here's to Chuck!
