Slvrgun's Incredibly Realistic Better Than Yours Mock Draft
Jaguars swap first rounders with the Jets and pick up their 2nd rounder. They go heavy on the offense and get some playmakers. Gene Smith draft looks so good to fans, he causes an exponential increase in ticket sales. The tarps fly off, and Jags make the playoffs for the first time since 2007.
- Stephen Hill, WR, (17) Ga Tech
- (A) Whitney Mercilus, DE, Illinois (B) Alphonzo Denard, CB, Nebraska
- Brian Quick, WR, Appalachian St
- Micheal Egnew, TE, Mizzou
- Chris Greenwood, CB, Albion
- Chris Rainey, RB/WR Florida
- Miles Burris, OLB, San Diego State
Could the Best Man For the Job Already Be Here?
It's clear that with yesterday's media bombshell that things are going to be a hell of a lot different in Jacksonville. Let's take a minute to reflect on what happened: nine year head coach Jack Del Rio is fired, check; Wayne Weaver sells the team, check; general manager Gene Smith receives a three-year contract extension, check. All in a days work you say? Wrong, the changes, while not as groundbreaking as yesterday's news, culminated into a few more today.
Jason Hill, our leading wide receiver, as pathetic as that is, was officially waived today. Receiving coach, Johnny Cox was also fired and his job was handed over to Mike Sheppard, the previous QB coach. While there is sure to be more changes in the future, the biggest question mark remains: Who will be the Jaguars' head coach going into the 2012-2013 season?

Tyson Alualu's stock soared until he became a logical choice for Jaguars
That started to change when Alualu played in the Senior Bowl.
"They couldn't block him in the game or the practices, and people started liking him a little more, and he goes to the combine, and his numbers were outstanding," McDonough said. "So he's great on tape. He's great at the Senior Bowl, and he's great at the combine."
By then, McDonough, who didn't visit Cal during the season, was giving Alualu an in-depth look.
"I called up Gene [Smith, Jaguars general manager] and said, 'Gene, this guy is a first-rounder,' " McDonough said.

The Best and Most Realistic Mock version 2.5
1) St. Louis - Sam Bradford, QB Oklahoma: Rams look to get a franchise QB.
2) Detroit - Ndamukong Suh, DT Nebraska: No way he falls any further.
3) Tampa Bay - Gerald McCoy, DT Oklahoma: See Above.
4) Washington D.C. - Russell Okung, LT Oklahoma State: Offensive line needs help. LT is a premium position. BAP and Need meet.
5) Kansas City - Eric Berry, S Tennessee: Won't fall out of top 5. Just a tremendous ballhawking S.
6) Seattle - Trent Williams, LT Oklahoma. Rebuild the lines, protect the blind side to help.
7) Cleveland - Jimmy Clausen QB Notre Dame: Holmgren will want his team to have a franchise QB.
8) Oakland - Joe Haden CB, Florida: With Asoughma shutting down the other side it will be very difficult to pass on this team.
9) Buffalo - Bryan Bulaga: Considered a premier LT. Great player with great size and strength. Will get QB in 2nd round.
10) Jacksonville - CJ Spiller RB, Clemson. The return of the two-headed monster. Spiller blends the speed and elusiveness of CJ, with the power of a Felix Jones. MJD gets to extend his career. While Jennings is converted into a FB, to replace Greg Jones.

The Best and most Realistic Mock Ever.
- Jimmy Clausen, QB Notre Dame: McNabb Grab doesn't change anything. Shanahan wants a future franchise QB and Clausen would be perfect behind McNabb.
5) Kansas City - Eric Berry, S Tennessee: Won't fall out of top 5
6) Seattle - Russell Okung, LT Oklahoma State: Start with the lines. Come back in 2nd get a QB.
7) Cleveland - Joe Haden, CB Florida: They're in dire need of better corners.
8) Oakland - Bryan Bulaga, LT Iowa: Their O-line play was awful last year and they can't have their new old man getting hit all day long.
9) Buffalo - Anthony Davis, LT Rutgers: Considered a premier LT. Great player with great size and strength.
10) Jacksonville - Dan Williams DT Tennessee: Wide lower body. Low center of gravity. Strong Penetrating D-Line. Provides interior pass rush. (Alternate: Earl Thomas).
I wanted to believe that Clausen would fall but there is no way he will fall out of the top 4 picks. He especially won't fall pass Shanahan.

My first three picks
10th pick - RB CJ Spiller
42nd pick - CB Alterraun Verner
74th pick - DE Alex Carrington
I tried to go best available player for each round. Despite having MJD, I couldn't pass on a homerun hitter in Spiller. Rashad Jennings is a good player but there are better runners. I was impressed with Verner's character and his workout at the combine. Looks like he could be a gem. Carrington is a big guy, doesn't have the speed of JPP but he does have nice initial burst off the line and should be able to shed blocks and stop the run at the next level due to his size.
Watching Free NFL replay (blacked out) games outside of Jacksonville...The Solution
NFL.com detects ip address so if you hide it then you can watch the game. Using a proxy, www.hidemyass.com just simply type in NFL.com and you should see watch Jaguars vs Arizona at the top. Normally if you lived outside of Jacksonville you could not view the game but now you can.
This post will self destruct in...well probably soon.
Enjoy the game. Oh I believe you need IE. Sorry guys...I hate it too.
The key to fixing the D: Inside the 10-1 Defense.
We need a pass rush and we cannot do it with 3, 4, 5, 6 guys so the only option is to put 10 on the line and do all out blitzes the entire game. Sure we may get beat on some plays but at least we can generate a rush that might causes our lone safety to pick off that floater.
So I say we get Harvey-Groves-Henderson-Landri-Knighton-Durant-Ingram-Smith-Mathis-Cox on the line and Nelson at Safety.
So what do you guys think?
Do any of you honestly believe we will break even?
So next we got the Texans and Titans who always give us trouble. Seattle is a wash but I'd give the edge to Seattle. A rebuilding Rams team that could present our first win or not. A BYE that will allow us to think for a whole week whether this team is any better than the Detroit Lions. Another tough match against the brutal Titans. A rebuilding Chiefs team that could present a win...perhaps. A viscous Jets team. A decent Bills team. A tough D 49ers team. Then we get a double dose of division games with the Texans then the Colts. Then we get to see Fred run all over us in New England (oh that is going to hurt seeing that). Then we have a decent Browns team.
I hate to be negative but where on this schedule does it look easy?
Time for a Different Perspective.
I didn't get to watch the game but I didn't have to be there to feel the complete state of disarray that has descended upon this Jaguars Franchise. The moment started at 12:58, and slowly drifted into two long moments where I sensed utter doom. Much to my surprise, I was correct. I was grocery shopping during much of the game but I kept receiving text message after text message, each one worst than the one before: "they suck", "just awful", "unbearable to watch". I thought to myself what allowed it to get to this point? The team hasn't one a game since Packers in Week 14 of last year. Game after game, loss after loss wondering when it would all end. I remember when that season was over patiently waiting for draft but with an incurable anxiety. With so many promises of rebuilding one couldn't hope but feel as if maybe, just maybe in 2009 the Jaguars had a chance. The expensive free agents were removed, our roster was overhauled, and the bane of our existence, the proverbial ball and chain was fired: Shack Harris. I listened for months as I heard how Shack Harris singlehandedly destroyed the Jaguars. I heard how Jack Del Rio would have a "tough camp" and reignite our team. How Gene Smith would save our team through sound drafting. I bought into it all. I was a believer, but not now, not at this hour. I cannot overlook this current state of affairs.
Attendance is perhaps the worst in the league. Our offensive Line is no better than it was a year ago. The defense, the anchor of our team in so many past years, is near the bottom in the league. Just who is this team? We are no longer a bend but don't break "smash mouth" defense but a weak, porous, battered and abused mess of men both powerless to stop the run and even more against the pass. We had visions during the off season of bringing in the 3-4 and mixing up schemes and then once again we see it doesn't matter because we simply don't have the personnel or the talent to run either a 4-3 or a 3-4 defense. The only standout from a defensive perspective is Rashean Mathis who has consistently been a top 10 corner in the league (I'd actually argue he is in the top 5).
The offense is an entire story to itself. What is it? Are we a power running team or a passing attack team because we can do neither. When Fred Taylor was released I welcomed it as a way to infuse youth at the position. How could I have grossly miscalculated? I think this team needs Fred, a proven vet to continue to share the load with Maurice Jones-Drew. I do not think neither Jennings nor Jones provides a viable solution and I have not been convinced that MJD for as great as he is can be a full-time featured back. I believe he works better in a two back system. Then there our the WRs. I am grateful for what they did to this position in the offseason but why have we not seen Thomas or Dillard, two big time standouts in college? Why are the WRs not getting targeted more? Is it Garrard not seeing them to the point his only option is MJD, lack of separation, lack of time (going back to the first point) or a combination of things coupled with the potential that perhaps he is inadequate at the position? Perhaps it is coaching. Can anyone honestly remember the last time we had a downfield attack? I grow tired of the screens, 5 yard out patterns, the infamous 10 yard slant, and the short passes on 3rd and long that always net us less than 10 yards.
There are so many problems that appear to have not been fixed over Jack Del Rio's tenure. We have heard excuse after excuse, and seen fingers pointed at all directions. During the first rebuilding the excuse was legitimate: the team was simply recovering from salary cap problems. The second rebuilding's excuse was mainly squared on Shack Harris even though the Jaguars employed a draft by committee stance. Then you throw in all the other numerous excuses: Jack Del Rio hasn't had enough time, the WRs are too slow, Leftwich is imobile, Garrard simply can't complete his passes without a solid O-line., etc etc. Some of the excuses offer reasonable explanations to the team's failures but others are quickly becoming weak ones such as the one regarding JDR's tenure.
JDR has had more than enough time, and more chances than many other owners would have given to turn the team around. He is the undisputed captain of the team, and he has failed us all. But I tried to overlook his failures, and stay strong in my faith that next year would be the year and as each "next year" arrived I found that golden dream to be nothing more than a dream that cannot be delivered.
Sadly, I feel that by the time he has completed this second stage of rebuilding that it may be too late. I will not continue to believe that this team has what it needs to be competitive either this year or next. I do not think it can be done under Jack Del Rio no matter if we draft Tebow, or Snead, or Bradford. The fans will continue to demand a competitive product and if it is not delivered, and done with haste then I fear the worst. The only way it seems to keep this franchise will be to start on a path of winning. Will we be able to do it?
I'm not so sure...

How long until we hear fans crying for McCown?
VS.
You guys know it's only a matter of time before fans want Garrard's head. He hasn't had any competition all through training camps and hasn't had a real solid game since 2007. I have been a loyal supporter of Garrard but he hasn't shown much lately. Perhaps it's still his line. Maybe it's the WRs. Maybe it's just too easy to throw to that always available MJD. Or maybe he just hasn't got into a groove yet. I don't know what it is but it is time to open the position for competition. We need the best guys on the field and if Garrard can't be that guy then good riddens. What do you guys think?
Will Mike Walker make the roster?
Is Mike Walker the odd man out?
We know Holt is a lock.
Troy Williamson looks great.
Jarret Dillard looks like he can be very special once he gets the jitters out.
Nate Hughes looks like he is ready to move off the PS.
I know Mike Thomas hasn't played but I think he is too much of a Playmaker to let go.
Tiquan Underwood shows great hands and deep speed.
So where does the oft-injured Mike Walker fit? He seems to get injured after every snap. Aside from that Steeler's game I can't think of much he has done. And he's been here since what 2007? Maybe its time to move on if he can't stay healthy.

Verdict: Chris Wells is an upgraded version of Washington but in my opinion he is not a huge upgrade, and in my opinon he is not worthy of the 8th pick.
Note: I was bored and did this.
BCC MOCK DRAFT - With the twelth selection in the 2009 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos select.......Knowshon Moreno RB Georgia.
The recent trade of Jay Culter has marked a new direction for the Broncos organization. We believe in drafting the best available player, and constantly collecting and evaluating talent. Knowshon offers intelligence, unquestionable leadership qualities, and is a team oriented player. He will help provide this team with a more balanced and more potent attack.
Editorial Note: Picks 13, 14, and 15 will be tomorrow... at noon, 4, and 8 o'clock.
- The Master Chief -
If the Jaguars absolutely cannot trade out of 8 who is your pick?
I'm going with Moreno...most here already know why I like him.
Overview
Possessing extraordinary lateral quickness and elusiveness that has drawn comparisons to Barry Sanders, Moreno teamed with quarterback Matthew Stafford for two years to give the Bulldogs the most feared tandem of skill position players in college football. An offensive machine, Moreno rushed for 2,734 yards and 30 touchdowns in two seasons after redshirting in 2006 in addition to catching 53 passes for 704 yards and two scores.

I'd like to hear some opinions!
Slvrgun's Jaguars 2009 Draft Picks
Acquired from Jets Scenario: (1) 17th, (2) 20th (4) 15th
(1) 17th: RB Knowshon Moreno - Don't let the pedestrain 40 fool anybody. This guy has great burst, excellent vision, a naturaly tendency of finding lanes and holes, displays remarkable lateral quickness, is strong and powerful, agile and he has a plethora of moves.
(2) 7th:WR Percy Harvin - Versatile player with great speed. Can turn on a dime. Yes I think he will last until the 2nd round. (I hope).
(2) 20th: OLB/DE/TE Connor Barwin: Yes his pro day was spectacular (4.47 forty) but he is still a little raw (lacks plethora of pass rushing techniques), needs to bulk up, and has no defined position. Has good speed and his motor never stops. Personally I'd like to see him at TE or OLB.
(3) 8th: S Rashad Johnson: Immediate upgrade at SS. Great hands, fluid mover. Matches up in coverage well. Excellent football instincts and smarts. Lacks elite speed and bulk.
(4) 7th: WR Johnny Knox: Knox is a legitimate deep threat. Runs a low 4.3, high 4.2. With his blazing speed and natural hands, Knox was the favorite target of Abilene Christian quarterbacks. In just two seasons at the school, he set the ACU and Lone Star Conference all-time record with 30 touchdown receptions. In just 25 games for the Wildcats, he caught 118 passes, the seventh-best career total in school history. His 2,227 receiving yards placed fifth on the team's all-time record list (per CBS).
(4) 15th: DT Dorell Scott: Big ugly.
(5) 8th: OT Sebastian Vollmer. Another big ugly.
Ok I think 5 rounds is good enough. What do you guys think?
Vic hints that a RB might be the BAP @ #8
General Manager Gene Smith isn’t ruling out any position for the Jaguars’ first-round draft pick, and even though the team has a desperate need at left tackle and most scouting services have a tackle fitting at the number eight spot in the draft, Smith’s eyes light up when he talks about this year’s crop of running backs.
“They have piqued my interest. It’s going to be an enjoyable day for me to see what kind of an impression these underclassmen can make,” Smith said.
He’s referring to possibly the strongest crop of underclass running backs in scouting combine history. Georgia’s Knowshon Moreno, Ohio State’s Chris “Beanie” Wells (pictured) and Pitt’s LeSean McCoy headline a group that also includes UConn’s Donald Brown and Iowa’s Shonn Greene.
I know everyone's draft board have us picking an OT because it is a need but I honestly believe we just need to stick to our guns and get the best guy available. Gene Smith also feels this way, and that is why I believe that Smith will surprise us all and pick up a complement to MJD. Offensive tackle could be addressed in a later round...
Just my thoughts. BAP!!!!
