When do individual tix go on sale?

Does anyone know when the Eagles individual tickets go on sale this year? I apologize for making a fan post for this, but I've been looking everywhere to try to find the date and I've had no luck.

What makes Nnamdi Asomugha awesome?

(This isn't what you think. But still kinda funny and gives you a glimpse of what this guy is like. Not just a great football player, but a likeable person as well.)

Adam Schefter has picked the wrong winner of every Eagles game this season other than Week 13. Guess who he picked to win this week...

Your Philadelphia Eagles.

Not good. Here's to hoping Adam can change this trend and take his Eagles record to 2-13 this week.

Bleeding Green Nation Eagles vs Cowboys - Differences between 2010 and 2009

Last year the Eagles suffered two crippling losses to the hated Dallas Cowboys in back-to-back weeks. It's hard not to look forward to this weeks matchup and wonder if we will be seeing a repeat of last year. While I was reading JimmyK's great article about the comparison of the 2010 Cowboys team to the 2009 team, I was thinking to myself, "what are the differences between this years Eagles team as opposed to last year?"

After the jump I try my best to analyze the differences of the team we'll see this week as opposed to the team we saw in weeks 17 and 18 (Wild Card Playoff Game) of 2009.

Bleeding Green Nation What are you thankful for?

With today being Thanksgiving, it's a great time to recognize the things that we are all thankful for. I think most of us have a great understanding of the most important things in life. I can't speak for everybody, but I am most thankful for having good health, an amazing wife, and great family and friends. But that's not what this is about.  This is about what I'm thankful for as an Eagles fan.

After the jump I listed a few things that I'm most thankful for this year.

An unofficial concept for your new Philadelphia Eagles uniform in 2012.

(DISCLAIMER: NFL officials have said that these concepts have no correlation with Nike or the NFL)

Yesterday JasonB posted a story on the front page about whose jersey would be the best to buy right now. One day later, coincidentally (or not), Sheil Kapadia posted a story about the "10 most buyable Eagles jerseys."

Hmmm? I don't know, maybe it is a coincidence. Maybe he did think of this on his own. There really is no sign of plagiarism, so you can't get on him too much. But there have been a few other times where I see a story concept from BGN pop up on Sheil's website "Moving the Chains" shortly thereafter being posted on BGN.

Makes you wonder...

Either way, Sheil goes on to write a nice breakdown on why each player's jersey might or might not be the best buy for you.

Clinton Portis: "I don't think (Donovan) had a lot of talent in Philly, but he made it all work."

During a recent interview on 106.7 The Fan, Clinton Portis claims that the Eagles didn't have a lot of talent when Donovan McNabb was with the Eagles. Hmmm... really??

When reading through Ray Didinger's column about Ricky Sapp, I came across this interesting piece of information:

"The senior players (on the team) are the kickers Sav Rocca (36) and David Akers (35). The only other player over 30 is defensive end Juqua Parker, who will be fighting for a job."

Could the Eagles be the youngest team ever in the history of the NFL? I have no idea, but to my knowledge this is the youngest team I've ever heard of or seen.

If you ask me, this makes for an exciting year and a promising future.

Bleeding Green Nation Is anybody else afraid of Dez Bryant?

Leading up to the draft there were only a handful of guys that I saw as instant difference makers and/or perennial Pro Bowlers (non QB). These guys included:

  • Ndamukong Suh
  • Gerald McCoy
  • Eric Berry
  • Earl Thomas
  • Dez Bryant
  • CJ Spiller

(This list is only personal opinion. I'm sure many of you may disagree on one or more of those guys and might think I'm missing other guys that should be included on the list. So please save me the "I can't believe you left Player X off that list! He's a stud!" That's not what this is about.)

So anyways... continuing on...

Naturally, as a fan, first and foremost you hope your team somehow drafts one of those "blue chip" prospects if possible. If he fits your plans, of course. If not, then you at least hope your division rivals don't draft one of those guys.

As the draft went along I started to wonder and worry, not only about who the Eagles were going to take, but who the Giants and Cowboys were going to take. As expected Suh and McCoy were gone before I could even finish my first beer. Then Eric Berry was not far behind at #5... phew! Cross one more off the board. Then CJ Spiller went to Buffalo... phew! Thank God he couldn't go to the Giants! Then we see guys like Alualu, Davis, Mathews, Graham, Thomas, and JPP fall off the board. As the draft went on and I consumed more and more beers, my fears grew stronger and stronger. Dez Bryant isn't going to fall all the way to the Cowoys? Is he!?! He can't possibly! Can he!?

To make a long story short, one of my worst fears came to fruition last night. Dez Bryant was drafted by the Cowboys (as you all know). Personally, I think this kid looks like a WR in the mold of Andre Johnson or Brandon Marshall. Minus the "off the field issues" he appears to have all the tools to be a great player... and now he's a friggin' Dallas Cowboy.

Is anybody else a little worried about seeing Dez Bryant and Miles Austin team up with Tony Romo for the next five or so years? I know anything can happen. Maybe he flames out like many teams were worried about. Maybe he gets his signing bonus and goes and spends it on a gun and shoots himself in the leg. Odds are though that he'll be giving Eagles fans headaches for years to come.

How do you guys feel about this? Now don't get me wrong. I know we have one of the best young WR tandems in the league. I'm just as excited as the next guy about Jackson and Maclin. But Dez and Miles are two mean son-of-a-guns. If you're not worried, help me feel the same way. I'm definitely very excited about Brandon Graham, but I'll be honest...  Every time I see Dez Bryant come up on SportsCenter or NFLN, I shiver a little bit.

Disclaimer: I apologize for the rambling and lack of research and/or intelligent insight. I just wanted to spark up a conversation about something other than Brandon Graham. I'm curious how you guys feel about this.

I don't like to put a lot of stock into what Bucky Brooks writes, but I found this pretty interesting. He makes an attempt to "go back in time" and re-do the 2007 Draft and when he does, he makes Brent Celek the Ravens selection at 29:

"29. Baltimore Ravens
Brent Celek, TE, Cincinnati
Celek -- a fifth-round pick by the Eagles in 2007 -- enjoyed a breakout season in 2009, and flashed the potential to become a difference maker as a deep middle threat."

Trade Announced: Eagles trade Chris Gocong and Sheldon Brown to the Browns for 4th and 5th round picks and Alex Hall.

about 2 years ago Cole_tiny Smitty2K3 1 comment

"The conclusion: the Eagles must find a team willing to rent McNabb for $11 million for a season by May 5, and give up more than a late third-round pick for that option. Or a team that loses a quarterback to injury after May 5 could rent McNabb for the prorated amount of his $5 million base salary for 2010.

That’s why it is unlikely that any deal for McNabb would take place before May 5, unless a rogue team like the Raiders or Redskins decide to fork over the $11 million instead of waiting five weeks to make a deal.

Expect the drama to continue about Donovan McNabb and the Eagles into May."

Per a league source, the Eagles have not informed Kevin Kolb that he's their starting qb, nor have they begun contract negotiations.

I typically hate when Mike Florio and the rest of the staff at ProfootballTalk.com give their opinions on topics. But a lot of times they do a great job at reporting facts and breaking down which reports are erroneous and which might have some substance to them. This time is no different. In their most current entry they break down a lot of the "reports" of the last week and put them in perspective. Take a look.

Check out Tommy Lawlor's most recent post about McNabb... The article (blog entry) is interesting.

His comment in the comment's section is even more interesting... "I can't get into specifics, but you're wrong about McNabb's value." I don't know if he has inside info or if he's just going off what he's heard through the media.

... It sounds like he has inside info.

"Seattle Seahawks have expressed interest in one – not two – Eagles quarterbacks.

A source in Seattle has informed Comcast SportsNet that the Seahawks have contacted the Eagles about Kevin Kolb, contradicting a report that the team has asked about Donovan McNabb as well.

When asked if the Eagles had anything to add to the report, the team responded "No."

Asked about the possibility of acquiring McNabb, the Seattle source said it would leave the Seahawks in the same position they’re in with veteran Matt Hasselbeck – but wouldn’t elaborate further.

Hasselbeck – like McNabb – is entering the final year of his contract."

Jason Reid of the Washington Post writes that the rumor is that the Redskins would send quarterback Jason Campbell to the Buffalo Bills for safety Donte Whitner and a draft pick.

It looks like this is just at "rumor-level" for the time being, but would you guys be upset if it came to fruition?

Most of you are already very familiar with Tommy Lawlor. If you aren't, I suggest you get to know his work. He writes for the Eagles website and for his own blogs, Eagles Blitz and Scouts Notebook. He is an avid fan of the Eagles and a very knowledgeable one at that.

He wrote a great piece about the future at QB for the Eagles. I think it's definitely worth a read for any Eagles fan out there.

Personally, I am still torn on the whole McNabb/Kolb debate, but Tommy puts up a very strong (and realistic) case in favor of Kolb. Check it out, if you have the time. (It's rather long).

"The Eagles reached into the Canadian Football League on Tuesday to add to their depth at running back. They signed Martell Mallett, who spent the 2009 season as a member of the CFL's BC Lions, where he rushed for 1,280 yards and six touchdowns on 214 carries (5.8-yard average), adding 43 receptions for 342 yards and two touchdowns. The 6-0, 210-pound Mallett was named to the West Division All-Star team and also earned the 2009 CFL Most Outstanding Rookie award."
