The article, which discusses several players, is subcription only. I guess it's ok to post an excerpt. Here is what former MLB scout Bernie Pleskoff had to say about Aroldis.

"I have been fortunate in my lifetime to have seen Sandy Koufax, Sam McDowell, and Herb Score in their early years and in their prime. I have to swallow hard and write this - Aroldis Chapman is further advanced at this stage of his career than the three dominant lefties named above. He is beyond good. Here's what I saw. The ball just kind of floats out of his huge hands (very large fingers) with no effort. He hit 100 MPH on his FB with no effort. He barely broke a sweat. His release is clean and crisp. His slider and change-up are THAT GOOD. He is slow to home plate from the stretch, but it won't matter because he won't be out of the stretch that much. He has long, loping strides because of his 6'4" frame. If he continues to challenge hitters and keeps the ball down, he will be a Hall Of Fame pitcher, period. The Reds simply have to start him in a warm climate minor league city and let him get used to pitching in America. That shouldn't take long. By the way, left-handed hitters have um, let me see here ... NO CHANCE! "

This had to be a freak occurrence. Still, it makes me a little worried.

"SPRINGFIELD — Josh Linthicum, a 2008 Kenton Ridge High School graduate and a sophomore football player at Wabash College, died Monday, Jan. 4, at Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati.

His dad, Michael Linthicum of Springfield, said Josh, 19, was having surgery on a torn labrum in his left hip. It was performed by Cincinnati Reds team doctor and Wittenberg orthopedic surgeon Dr. Tim Kremchek at the Summit Surgical Center in Cincinnati."

I'm so glad the Reds didn't draft him now. He will never amount to anything.

Andy Seiler has been posting a lot about the draft over at minorleagueball.com. John Sickels has given Andy props for Andy's extensive draft knowledge so I deem Andy to be a credible source.

Andy really likes the Reds draft. So far, the Reds draft only grades behind the draft of the Giants.

I don't think you need a subscription to view the page. Slyde said a lot of the same stuff yesterday.

Someone should sign up for this. I don't have enough knowledge with respect to the draft but would like to discuss it at redreporter.

Red Reporter GIANTS!!!!!! PREVIEW!!!!!

Andrethegiant014_medium

via i180.photobucket.com

Brief Team History:

After winning 5 world championships in New York (1885-1957) the Giants have not won a World Series since moving to San Francisco.  They lost to a stacked A's team and an earthquake in 1989.  The Reds beat an even better A's team in 1990 but had the advantage of not having to deal with natural disasters.  In 2002, the Giants should have won but the Rally Monkey thwarted their plans.   That series was also memorable because Dusty's 3 ½ year old son served as a bat boy...and was almost destroyed.   The Giants have had some great players through the years including Bonds, Will Clark, Mel Ott, Willie Mays, Orlando Cepeda, Willie McCovey, and  Juan Marichal.  I think at least 75% of those players were on steroids though.

Red Reporter BP's Top 11

1.  Yonder Alonso *****

2.  Todd Frazier; 3.  Drew Stubbs ****

4.  Chris Valaika; 5.  Neftali Soto;  6.  Yorman Rodriguez;  7.  Juan Duran;  8.  Juan Francisco;  9.  Kyle Lotzker ***

10.  Daryl Thompson; 11.  Devin Mesoraco **

Summary:  "The Reds system isn't what it used to be, but after putting as much talent in the majors as they did in 2008, fans have nothing to complain about. There's still a nice collection of hitting prospects here, but when it comes to pitching, which remains a big need at the major league level, the system is paper-thin."

Why does everyone think pitching is such a huge need for the Reds?  Also, I think Thompson is listed to low and Yorman and Juan are both too high.

Minor League Ball Not a Rookie: Ryan Braun

Do you think he'll play at the same level next year?  I have a feeling that he's going to be kind of a bust...especially from a fantasy perspective.

I hate the 112/29 K/B ratio.  Am I letting those numbers influence my opinion toward him too much?

I want him to be really good.  I could keep him, Ichiro, or BJ Upton for 2 more seasons.  Ichiro seems to be the safest pick.

Minor League Ball Fantasy Dynasty Leagues...

Currently, I'm in standard Yahoo! leagues.  I would like to use a service with good minor league keeper options.

Also, I'd like to try something that takes salaries into account.

Auctions don't sound that appealing to me.

What services do you guys use? Are they expensive?

Thanks in advance.
