Does anyone else think Doc needs to chill and lay off the guys ? 

He's over-reaching, over-thinking and over-coaching lately. 

The vets are not happy with his criticisms especially last week when he called them "soft"

it really ticked off KG, Paul and Ray. As usual, Doc is very top-heavy on defense,

I heard him say that if you miss 20 shots but make 20 stops the score is the same.

Doc, these are professional basketball players in the NBA you're playing against.

They ARE going to make a lot of their shots and ARE going to score, no matter how hard the Celtics push on D. You're going to have to focus more on OFFENSE, STOP neglecting it !

When a shot drains, it's easier for the team to get back on defense, there's a time differential.

When a shot misses, it's often too late to stop the fast break.

Stop over-criticizing the team. You're confusing the new guys and insulting the vets.

Like Tommy says, and he sees just as much as you do, from a better angle sometimes -

you're making the team too tentative.

They are THINKING too much and PLAYING too little. WE NEED FLOW. Let it loosen NOW. 

And another reason why you should lay off is you're all going to want to begin the playoffs with a 

clear head  and a good attitude ! The big 4 need to feel in control and at ease in order to be effective 

and shine to their highest potentials. Smile and mean it, not in aggravation, SMILE, DOC.  This team 

needs a feel good week.

And by keeping Shaq and Jermaine out, you're pissing off the vets again !!

Let them play NOW ! 

Let's take a look at some telling statistics.

I'd be interested in seeing how this can be explained away.

1. Celtics rank dead last in the NBA on Free Throw Attempts.

the highest FTA team, Oklahoma City, (surprise, surprise) gets to the line 50% more than Boston.

2. Celtics rank dead last in the NBA on 3-point Attempts.

I can understand the reasons for this, as our team prefers to push for higher quality shots

more so than all the others in the league. Yet, that fact doesn't increase our FG Attempts

compared to other teams, Boston is 20th in FGA.

The fact that Boston spends more time in the FG zone and paint than any other offense appears to be in direct contrast with our last-place rank in FT attempts !

C's need breakout speed help at forward. Toronto is an excellent fast-break team and they routed the Mavs/Dirk. Yet the C’s just are not playing fast breaks at all. Baby can’t even do it. Scal can't do it, and Daniels is Rondo's bench when he comes back. We already have House and Allen as set-up men..Rondo can break but when he does, there's nothing for him to do except dribble and wait for the targets to get their azzes downcourt or charge the basket himself. To say the C’s need speed now is an understatement. They desperately need break speed to complement Rondo. Right now there are too many similar players. Excellent passers and playmakers but rather slow, and rather un-athletic. The team needs at least one more big break player .. with Rondo and KG that player could be deadly. If Doc isn’t ready to develop Walker into the role, pick someone up and drop a clone. The competition has figured out how to play this C team and how to beat them. Without break speed they are only a casual threat. The shots come slow and they aren't getting back into games quickly enough, nor are they putting games away quickly because they are a SLOW team. When the opponent is hot on 3's or penetrates quickly, they get routed in spurts. Like I said, Baby, Scal, TA, Williams, Perk, Allen, Pierce, House - NONE of them can get down the court with Rondo. By the time Rondo gets there he's waiting for the caboose on his own. We need a small roster adjustment.

 

he's only 27.. thoughts on bringing Wily Mo back for some hitting powah ?

Wily can knock it out. He's not a bad fielder either.

1-2 million should do it. Seriously I think he can add to this team especially if Bay isn't re-signed.

With the right hitting coach and only 27-28 he's a cheap long ball hitter.

You all remember Wily Mo. Someone will pick him up, if even for AAA, why not the Sox ?

He's a threat to pitchers.
