Be thankful we are not the Pirates

I had to travel to Pittsburgh this week and was able to catch Tuesday night's game against the Phils.  PNC Park is a great stadium, weather was great, and I got to see the Pirates win in walk-off fashion

Wedding Pics - Tyler and Beth

OK, Sorry for the delay and thanks for all the support and love shown for my son and his new bride.  The wedding was everything we had hoped for except for the final outcome of the game.  Her family only rubbed it in a little bit.  But I look at it this way, the Angels may have lost the game but we won a daughter.

Rex Hudler and Tim Mead attended the ceremony and Rex gave them his game ball.  It will be cherished although at the moment, we can't find it :-(

At any rate, without further ado, here are the official pics.

Wedding at the Big A Today

Today, July 7th, fellow HH'er, my son, Tyler Berry will marry Beth Peters in Suite 22 at 6:05PM.

Strange, we know, but to truly understand this, you must start at the beginning.

Both Tyler and Beth are avid baseball fans.  Tyler was born and raised in Orange County, a diehard Angels fan.  He met Beth during their freshman year at Cal Lutheran University where he was majoring in Pre-Med, she in Film and Public Relations. Beth, from Dallas, has been a Texas Rangers baseball fan all her life.  She attended her first Rangers game when she was about 6 months old.

Since they first met, they have been to numerous Angels games both in Anaheim and Arlington. Instead of returning to school in the fall of 2007, Tyler decided to heed the call of his country and joined the U.S. Army and is now serving as an airborne combat medic with the 173rd Airborne, with the rank of Private 1st Class, currently stationed in Germany.

He and Beth will be married in a small ceremony when he is home on leave in this July, before his unit’s expected deployment to a combat zone later this year. Since both Beth and Tyler and their families are huge fans of their teams, albeit of division rivals, a Rangers-Angels game seemed to be the perfect setting for their wedding. As mentioned above, Tyler and Elizabeth are to wed Tuesday, July 7th, 2009, at 6:05 p.m. in Suite 22 at the Angels Stadium in Anaheim, an hour prior to the Rangers-Angels game that evening.

Just an interesting tidbit: Beth’s parent’s first date was an Angels/Rangers game in Arlington.

If you happen to be at the game tonight, raise your glass towards suite 22 to toast the happy couple.

With Halo and fatherly pride,

Scott (Socalwine)

Howie's Back!!!!

Hopefully so is our offense.  Yes, I know he is just one man but I am very optimistic.

Downside, Figgy was placed back on the 15-day DL (retro to 5/22).

So I assume Howie starts at 2B.  Who plays SS and 3B?

Since SRod has begun to hit does he move over to SS with Izzy 3B?

Izzy SS with Balsawood 3B?

Izzy and Q?

Inquiring minds want to know...

Also Eckstein is in the house.

Padres part ways with Edmonds

According to MLB.com, on Friday, the Pads released Jim Edmunds.  An excerpt is below:

"It's just not happening for him statistically," Padres manager Bud Black said Thursday before a 5-4 loss to the Braves ended a 2-7 road trip, leaving the reeling Padres with a 12-23 record and in last place in the National League West.

Edmonds, 37, was hitting just .178 with 24 strikeouts in 90 at-bats. He had just six hits in his last 55 at-bats. He wasn't in the starting lineup on Thursday in Atlanta, but appeared in the game as part of a double-switch, grounding out in his only at-bat.

Aybar not on All-Star Ballot

Maicer Isturis is listed as Angels SS.  Does MLB even look to see who is playing?  Aybar has been getting most of the starts although Izzy did start opening day.

Garrett Anderson is listed as DH not OF.  He did get the opening day start in LF so I am not sure of the criteria MLB uses to determine where or who should be on the ballot.

Vladdy will probably get voted in due to popularity but Kotch deserves to be there.

Mariners cut Wilkerson and Norton

According to the AP, right fielder Brad Wilkerson and pinch-hitter Greg Norton were cut Wednesday by the Seattle Mariners, who promoted catching prospect Jeff Clement and power-hitting outfielder Wladimir Balentien from Triple-A Tacoma.

Wilkerson signed a $4 million, one-year contract before spring training. He was batting .232 with five RBIs in 19 games. The team has 10 days to trade Wilkerson and Norton, release them or assign them to outright to the minor leagues.

So much for the M's not missing Adam Jones and Guillen...
