Last year before the big game, Stanfurd attempted to hang a banner that said "BEAT CAL" from the Campanile. I saw this happening from Moses Hall where I was having office hours with a professor. I ran to the bottom of the tower just in time to catch the banner as it ripped from the top and collapsed onto the floor. I gathered all the pieces and attempted to flee with them in hopes that the furdies would not attempt another try. At this point, legal counsel has asked me to "be a little fuzzy on the details", let us just say that I was forced to engage in some Bear to Tree combat. I'm a big man, a big, big man. A bloodied nose and some broken hands later, I left with my prize. The full banner ripped from the top of the campanile (they tried to attach it with duct tape and twine). Engineering is not one of Stanfurds top majors i guess. I rendezvoused with a few friends that happened to be members of the Fiji house (to which I am grateful). Later that night was the Cal bonfire. The fire department would not let me burn the banner, little do they know that I snapped this picture while they were setting up hours earlier. The banner was burned in the fire, I kept a souvenir though. The big red "C" was kept and framed by me with a few pictures. The next day we traveled to the farm and unfortunately we all know what happened. But I like to think i prevented insult from injury.
