If Jim Bowden had a handle on modern baseball would he not have a job?
Aaron Rowand DFA
Guess they're giving up?
Verducci - Baseball now has a 'big 3'
As opposed to the yankees/red sox now the phillies are in the same 'stratosphere' as the evil empires?

ScoreCasting: A Book Review
In the beginning, Baseba’al gave us the hit, the home run, the walk, the strikeout, the run, the RBI, and the ERA. For a time, it was good. However, there came a time when the prophet (some may say heretic) Bill looked deeper into the game that Baseba’al gave us. What he found was a deeper, more thorough, and nuanced understanding of the Baseba’al’s gift. And since the prophet Bill (with apologies to King Herod) had access to mass communication he was able to share his findings with kindred spirits. Like most new beliefs, it started out with a small group of dedicated disciples eager to learn of Bill’s newfound understanding. But then there was DARPA and then the scribe Michael published the Book of Beane and the teachings of the prophet Bill spread like wildfire. Like all new belief systems Sabremetrics was welcomed by some, who devoured and expanded upon the core tenets of Bills teachings, whereas others viewed these new ideas as heresy, out to destroy what Baseba’al had given us.
However, Sabremetrics was here to stay, and to some it allowed not only a greater understanding of Baseba’al’s game, but the ability for the David’s to be more competitive with Goliaths, and Baseba’al saw that it was good, because competition is good.
Phillies First MLB Team to Welcome Robot Overlords
In an attempt to save the organization from complete anhiliation once the robot apocalypse does begin, the forward thinking Philadlephia Phillies will have a robot throw out the first pitch at tonights game against the Brewers of Milwaukee (04/19/2011)
The phillies, as a whole, welcome their new robot overlords and would like to remind them that as a trusted sports organization, they could be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground robot factories.
Manny Retires
Seems Manny had some issues under MLB's drug testing policy and decided to retire instead of dealing with it.
If a guy tests positive for something illegal (if it is something illegal) why do the authorities not get involved as well? (This isn't about Manny, just a general question I had)
OT - Stan Lee - just retire please
I know there are lots of comic book geeks hanging out here and this might be the worst idea Stan Lee ever had - so I had to share
Showalter Wants to PIss off the Big Boys
Buck Showalter thinks Jeter is a girl and that Theo isn't smart.
Americans think PED's are the worst
So, yeah, this is under the 'olymipc' section of ESPN and from the USADA, but Americans rank PEDs #1 as the most serious problem facing sports today.
Thus lending credence to the be loud and be scary (regardless of facts support your argument) tactic taken by so many organizations sports and non, and fed upon by an idiot media.
Tom Verducci Says Phillies are Old
Also implies this would be less worrisome if players were allowed to use steroids.
Stupid anti steroid policy
Oliver Perez Demoted?
Sigh. No more facing Oliver Perez the starter
TBS SUnday Schedule Announced
Seems every game listed but one has either the yankees red sox or phillies.
BLS Spring Snapshot of Phillies
4. Is there anyone on this team who is underrated? He's not underrated in any sense of the term in Philadelphia, where "Chooch" shirts have become commonplace and everyone knows about his love of ice cream. Still, the efforts of Carlos Ruiz(notes) (pictured at the top of this post) still probably go unappreciated on a national level. The 32-year-old is coming off a career year that saw him notch an .847 OPS with eight homers and 53 RBI, all while producing the type of solid defense that saved Roy Halladay's no-hitter in the playoffs. He's bound to get more face time as the director of the rotation this season and he's definitely earned the attention.

Like I told TheGoodPhight on Twitter last night, did they want me to ignore Lakewood? I like ceiling, and that club had potential all over the place, and not just raw tools goofs. (Well, they did have some of those too.) Guys like Valle and Rodriguez and maybe Jiwan James and Santana ... there will be some big leaguers from that club who didn't make my top 100. It's a really strong system, and just because they're not hyped right now doesn't make it less strong. (Oh, and stop worrying about where I ranked some rival team's system. It has zero effect on what happens on the field. I'm not that good.)
Their low-A club in Lakewood, N.J., was as loaded with tools prospects as any club in the minors; you could dream on four or five of its hitters, at least three of its starters, and even a 'pen guy or two. And the Phillies keep stuffing the system with that sort of high-upside player despite one of the smaller draft signing budgets around. This after all the deals to help secure their enviable starting rotation. ESPN Insider Article
Noonan (Philly)
Now that the Phils signed Cliff Lee, do they care about getting a serviceable right fielder or are they going to save the cash?
