Heisley attempts heist of Henry

In short, Heisley decided he didn't want to sign the guy to 120% of the rookie scale. Which, yes, is negotiable under the salary cap rules, but in practice everyone (I think except for one or two players in the entire history of the rookie scale!), signs for 120% of the rookie scale. Henry's agent is Reinsdorf buddy Arn Tellem. He's athletic, can defend, and can shoot the lights out. If this isn't an obvious guy to go after, I don't know who is.

How the Bulls Could Keep Up

Assuming Lebron actually goes to the Heat, how do you compete with that?  I think the only possible way is to get a guy who could be a superstar, and most any cost, and hope it turns out.Because...

Quick evaluation of the Bulls Coaching Prospects

I did a pretty long write up on the Bulls coaching "candidates". The bottom line is: 1. Three way tie between Kimbo Slice, Phil Jackson, Calipari if he brings an illegal but still written guarantee that Lebron James is coming. 4. Van Gundy, because he's got personality. 5. Rick Pitino, because he gets people to willingly lay down for them even after he bones their wife. 6. Dwane Casey, because I wanted him 2 years ago, even though I think that ship has sailed and it'd be awkward now. 7. Sam Mitchell, because I can't find anything obviously wrong with him.

Doug Collins for GM and how the Bulls work

To understand why the Bulls need Doug Collins as a GM and not a coach, you have to understand how the Bulls work. OK, I wrote this with the intent to add in a whole bit set of links, but I'm super...

James Johnson hurts foot, uncertain for Nets Game

Ugh. This isn't looking good James Johnson underwent an MRI on his strained right foot Friday and his availability for Saturday's home game against the Nets will be made after the morning shootaround. Johnson suffered the injury during the first quarter of Thursday's loss and played 13 minutes, 16 seconds of his 19:48 after briefly returning to the locker room. With Luol Deng already out, coach Vinny Del Negro said Flip Murray would start at small forward if Johnson can't play.

And now for something completely different

Bulls lose again

Pritch About to be Slapped too?

What in the name of Detlef Schrempf is going on in Portland? Tuesday, vice president of basketball operations Tom Penn was canned for "philosophical differences." Those differences turned out to be misrepresenting an offer he had from the Minnesota Timberwolves in order to get a raise and promotion with the Trailblazers. Now, rumor has it that general manager par excellence Kevin Pritchard is next on the chopping block. The Oregonian's John Canzano has the scoop. T-Mobile Player/Whatever of the Week: Acie Law

Well, I don't know what kind of swag BullsBlogger gets for this, but it's about time to name a Player/Whatever of the Week. While I was tempted to highlight Vinny Del Negro's steadfast and...

Bulls targeting Harrington this summer?

The former star at St. Patrick's High in Elizabeth, who lives in Edgewater, said he's not trying to send out any subliminal messages -- but told The Post he definitely would be interested in signing with his hometown Nets this summer, especially since they will play in Newark, 10 miles from Elizabeth, the next two seasons. "If they had interest in me, I'd take a strong look at that," Harrington, a free-agent-to-be, told The Post. "It's still the city. It's still home. I'd rather play at the Garden, but I'd play in Newark, too." According to a source, the Wizards, Blazers and Bulls are expected to have interest in Harrington this summer.

Bulls lose, but don't lose much position

[From the FanPosts. Sports2 is taking over the rest of this week while I go on vacation and get my precious bodily fluids and some body parts replaced. Combining this with choosing to skip the last...

Should the Bulls make an offer to Big Z

I only have a minute, but I wanted to run down the options: * I think the Bulls have a couple million under the luxury tax now. And part of the MLE. So they could probably offer a bit more than...

2010 Bulls return to glory far-fetched speculation

Vecsey deliciously speculates Jerry Buss might screw up his dynansty Not that long ago, Bryant seriously considered switching allegiance from L.A. Lore to my Paper Clips. Should his Lakers'...

The NBA's Best Free Agent

DALLAS - Jerry Colangelo revealed Sunday that he would consider running an NBA team again, including the Nets, but only if he is given full control of the organization. "I would have to have full autonomy," Colangelo told the Daily News. "I'm not looking to become a general manager. But if the right job came along I'd be willing to talk to anyone. Life is all about opportunities." There's no one I'd rather have this summer than Jerry Colangelo running this team.

Bulls point guard Derrick Rose told the media that Thomas apologized to all his teammates right...

Bulls point guard Derrick Rose told the media that Thomas apologized to all his teammates right after the incident, but his most revealing answer came when he was asked if anyone on the team had tried to talk to Thomas about keeping his emotions in check. "Everybody," Rose said. "Everybody talked to him. People handle stuff certain ways. It seems like he's on the right path, so we're just going to leave him that way."

Will the Bulls make .500?

A look at the remaining schedule and other factors that separate this season's Bulls from last years.

Van Gundy Takes self out of running for Bulls job

''The Bulls are not underachieving,'' ESPN analyst Jeff Van Gundy said. ''They are achieving to where they should be. Don't delude yourself that they are anything more than a 30-32-win team.''

Jazz have made everyone but Deron available

Carlos Boozer(notes), who is making $12.6 million in the final season of his contract, has attracted interest, but sources said the Jazz have yet to enter any substantive trade talks involving the...

KC Responds to an Email: Bulls were pulling '08 BG offer regardless

I'm making this a FanPost because it's kind of long and wordy. Doug reports "Bulls wanted to dump Gordon no matter what?". He reports on a email sent to KC from RealGM poster Homo Sapien.  H...

Could Jerome James be traded for useful depth?

Obviously we're very close to the luxury tax and we're finding our "depth" of Gray, Pargo and Hunter is (to everyone's complete shock) not very good.  One way to acquire another player or two...

Trade ideas: Hinrich for Kevin Martin / Ship out Salmons

Bulls trade Kirk Hinrich, James Johnson ($11.1M this year, $10.7M next year) Kings trade Kevin Martin ($10.6M this year)   Why this works for the Kings. Tyreke Evans looks mostly like a wing...

Thoughts on trades that work for the Bulls

Consistent with my thoughts on the season, I see three sorts of trades that make sense and have some likelihood of working out for the Bulls.1. Trade for a FA target if their team falls apart....

If I were Jerry Reinsdorf (a double duty fanpost)

Not in Reinsdorf's position with my desire to win basketball games, but in Reinsdorf's position with his prioritization of cost, flexibility, loyalty and winning, I'd be thinking hard about what...

Completely serious trade Derrick Rose idea

As I said, we're at a crossroads. some win now guys and some win later guys. Up to this point, we've largely talked about building the team around Derrick Rose, since he's clearly going to be our...

The Pistons have reached deal in principle with Ben Gordon

[From the FanShots. More later, count on it. -ed.] The Pistons have reached deal in principle with Bulls guard Ben Gordon, a source with knowledge of talks tells Y! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski

My James Johnson Profile

Good: He's got excellent size and athleticism for both forward spots. He's a ridiculous 257lbs, but he's really athletic, posting good times in the sprint and agility drills, bench pressing a ton,...

Draft Poll for pick #16

So who do the Bulls actually draft with the #16 pick?  For purposes of this poll, I mean who do we pick first. If you think we trade up or trade down with the purpose of targeting one of these...

A look at the 26th pick and the 2nd round

[Note by your friendly BullsBlogger, 06/24/09 1:27 PM CDT: Well, someone has to look at this part of the draft, right? For what it's worth (not much), in the couple mock drafts I participated in I...
