Colts Conversation
It is Monday, and it seems like a month since we have seen our beloved Chiefs play so, I have been really looking forward to playing the Colts at their house this weekend. I thought it would be good to have a conversation about things the Colts do, that it seems like, nobody else is doing. Let us start with that thing they do, where the Left Guard actually calls for the snap by tapping the center on the thigh. I have never seen anything like this before but, it makes pretty good sense. I understand that the reason they do this is, so the center can keep his head up and not get "steamrolled" on the snap. Now, I have to wonder, does this give our down lineman a little bit of an advantage? Also, why is this not a false start when everyone is down and ready and the Left Guard moves his hand to happily tap his center on the thigh? More questions after the jump.
Coaches comparison Version 1.0
With our top 2 coaching positions (assuming reports this morning are accurate) already filled just 10 days after the regular season conclusion, I thought it would be very interesting to see how our beloved Chiefs match up with our anti-beloved Broncos from a coaching staff perspective.
HC comparisons are pretty simple, both are rookie HC's with one year under their belt right? Mcdaniels record is 8-8, and Haley's is 4-12. Advantage Broncos at this point in the comparison.
Now, here's where it gets good for us. OC comparisons are so badly skewed in our direction that I won't spend a whole lot of space just the highlights. Mr Weis will be entering his 32nd season in the coaching ranks and his 16th year in the National Football League. He has coached in five Super Bowls and owns four Super Bowl rings. Did you catch that, 4 super bowl rings? Mike McCoy, I don't know what to say other than, I don't know. I can not find any news about the man. Talk about under the radar, obviously a huge advantage Chiefs
DC- Romeo vs Mike Nolan. Do I even need to go into details with this one? I think not, again advantage Chiefs.
There seems to be a plethora of Bronco coaches leaving. What I do not know is if they were ever any good and if the new coaches will be an improvement over the old ones. Mike Shanahan has accepted the HC job for the Redskins, and according to MHR site, Bobby Turner the RB's coach has been offered the associate HC gig in our nations capital to rejoin the "shanny". I doubt that this will be the last piece of the puzzle that Shanahan adds from the Bronco staff. Again, according to MHR, Rick Dennison is heading to the Texans, and Alex Gibbs is heading West to join Pete Carroll in Seattle.
Also seeing some chatter online about a new head coach in Raiderville as well.
I have always been optimistic about the future of Arrowhead but, I have never, ever felt like this before. This post was mostly about the Bronco's but, I would match our coaching staff against any team in the NFL now.
Go Chiefs!!
Don't you just love it when a plan comes together?
Should Haley have gone for two for the win after "The Drive"
I know, Monday morning quarterback and all the other anologies you can come up with but, I gotta tell ya, I really would have considered going for the win at the end of regulation instead of taking my chances in overtime. We are so desperately in need of a win that I felt Haley should have considered it.
I don't think he expected Cassel to get the touchdown so, he hadn't even considered it as an option. Surely, we have a two point conversion play in the book somewhere that we have practiced don't we?
Is there a coaching rule that would have been violated if we had gone for two?
I just wanted a win somehow, someway, anyhow, anyway we can get it.
Arrowhead logo question
I seem to remember a discussion sometime back about the players earning their logo on their helmet. Does this happen before the first pre season game or when?
Being new to AP, I was wondering when we could expect to see some of these guys with a logo?
It sounds like there have been some hard working individuals that have earned it already.
Also, haven't heard much from Colquitt this training camp. I assume he is completely healed and ready for the season.
Signings (or lack thereof)
I am starting to get concerned, only 3 days until training camp, and we are still at 50% signings. Is this normal? I think it would be very beneficial to have our picks on board and getting reps in River Falls. Its been a while since we had such a high draft pick (#3 overall) but, he needs to be working with 1st group DAY ONE!!!
Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Am I just paranoid?
Chiefs on NFL Network Last night?
Did anyone else but me watch the Chiefs and Fins on NFL Network last nite?
I thought our defense look great at times and boy, am I going to miss Tony G. I didn't realize how much Thiggy used him when the chips were down. Bowe contributed and Demarrio Williams was on fire on "D". It was another of the several games that could have, should have been won.
Still excited about the upcoming though and only 11 more weeks till opening day
