Posting and Toasting State Your Case for the NBA Finals

Well, one question that I've been hearing a lot lately as a Knicks fan is: "Since your team got eliminated, who will you be rooting for to win the NBA Championship?"

Well, when your team gets eliminated, and when certain teams, and certain players, and certain situations align in certain ways, you might find yourself rooting for an unlikely team.

At the end of this fanpost, I would like people to use the comment section to say which team they are rooting for to win in the Finals this year and why.

Take the jump for my unusual pick...

Posting and Toasting Behind Grizzly Lines

Sometimes it pays to be one of the few Knicks fans in a foreign city and to be really vocal about it. A friend of a friend's boss hooked me up with some tickets to tonight's game... Luxury Box tickets... yes, I squealed like a girl when I got them.

Posting and Toasting Front Court Nomenclature

There's been a lot of chatter that the Knicks now have the best front court in the NBA which is a far cry from the playoffs last year when we didn't really have a front court to speak of at all.

As a grown man, I know better than to believe the hype before they've played a single game. But since I'm a Knicks fan who's been foaming at the mouth to see a team that can rebound and control the paint for the last decade, I'm diving headlong into all this hype and embracing it as truth! In my mind, our front court is already a Hall of Fame Nominee!

However, as you well know, when an athlete/team is being nonsensically overhyped, they must be given a nickname.

Jump if you like nicknames!

Posting and Toasting Amnestied Players Don't Become Unrestricted Free Agents!

Like many of you, I've licking my chops as I peruse the lists of candidates most likely to be amnestied. But apparently, we may not have a shot at them after all.

Read this.

Update: Tom Ziller gives an illustration of how it might work.

Posting and Toasting Do You Really Want an 82 Game Schedule?

Good morning, paper clips (just looking at random crap on my desk right now),

The topic of this fanpost is something that I've actually pondered for the last two or three years. However, because of the lockout and everybody scrambling to figure out how we can still squeeze in 82 games somehow, I think this is the best time to share my crackpot ideas.

Posting and Toasting New Shipment of Big Men to Arrive?

So it seems like there's going to be this amnesty clause where the owners can get rid of one bad contract.

Here at P&T, we've briefly discussed who we should use the clause on (most folks are leaning towards Balkman).

But Dan L. from the Knicks Fan Blog really caught my attention this morning with a list of players who are most likely to be axed by their teams. Check it out.

Two names jumped off the page...

Posting and Toasting The Chances of Chandler

Good morning Intrepid Lockout Survivors,

Interesting story line this morning.

http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/knicks/post/_/id/6071/with-wilson-to-china-was-melo-deal-a-steal

I definitely wouldn't say it makes the Carmelo deal a steal, but I would admit that it takes some of the sting away... a little bit.

I miss Wilson a lot. Jump if you miss Wilson too!

Poll
Will Will (see what I did there) return from the Far East and rejoin the Knickerbockers?
Most Definitely! I see no other outcome

Probably, it's hard to tell because of Wilson's facial expressions

Maybe not, because NY doesn't want to use cap space on him

Maybe not, because Wilson is looking to get PAID

I'm glad Wilson Chandler is gone. Good Riddance

Posting and Toasting I Played Against Safari Last Night

Guys... I think I played against Ronny Turiaf last night. It was like something out of a dream, but I was awake.

(The fact that Ronny got hurt a few days ago makes this slightly less believable, but it's still pretty cool).

Posting and Toasting SPERO DEDES!!! Radio... Anyone?

Huge news, guys!!!

Well, huge news for me. I'm a big radio guy. It's my favorite form of media by far. I'm biased because I use to DJ (nothing fancy... It was 10 years ago...you've never heard of me).

But even if you've never worked in radio or TV, what Knick fan hasn't pretended to be Marv Albert and imitate his calls for a great moment from Knicks history, or invent a great moment that never happened. Heck, I pretend I'm Mike Breen all the time. "Starks for three... BANG!"       ...see?

Jump like Gus Johnson jumped from MSG's negotiating table :(

Posting and Toasting Greetings from Marriageville!

Hello friends,

It's me, StarksMiddleFinger. I'm still alive. In fact, I'm better than ever.

In the last three weeks, I've gotten a new job, moved into a new place, and gotten married. That's right! There is now a Mrs. StarksMiddleFinger ("StarksRingFinger" perhaps?). She's awesome. I'm the lucky one in this thing... trust me.

Big Congratulations to other recent P&T marriages: UK Knick, JVG Dietcoke, Kupe (I think), BucketsnCents (I think) and I know there were like two others. Best of luck to all of you.

Ray Smuckles, haven't you been married for like 50 years? You get a congratulations too. I'm trying to do what you do.

Posting and Toasting The Pick, The Roll, and the Frustating Question

Something's been bothering me.

We have two incredibly gifted offensive players (Amare and Melo) who would seem to excel in the pick and roll.

But after the Melo trade, I can't ever remember the Knicks clearing one side of the floor, and letting Amare and Melo run a pick and roll on the other side.

We saw lots of other combinations: pnr with Billups and Amare, pnr with Billups and Sheldon, pnr with TD and Turiaf, pnr with Melo and Turiaf, etc.

Yet the play that seems like the most obvious and logical play (PNR with Melo as the ballhandler and Amare as the pick-setter) never seemed to happen!

Why!

Jump like Landry Fields biting on a pump fake.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Posting and Toasting I believe that Amare is hurt

Sorry Rorschach, it's just what I believe. But feel free to disagree.

I think that Amare Stoudemire has been playing hurt for some time now. He will play a lot better if he can get a rest (All Star break didn't count for him) and the chance to heal.

Jump for a quick explanation:

Posting and Toasting And here's why none of this trade stuff matters.

Dear Knicks Fans (Not you, bandwagoners. I'll write you your own letter later),

This has been a trying time for all of us. We're all nervous about who's going to be traded, or if there will even be a trade at all. We're worried about cap space going forward. We're nervous about Dolan going behind Donnie's back, and whether the Don will be with us in the near future. We're worried about having a great basketball team and winning the championship that our city has been thirsting for.

Last night I read the story about us potentially trading away our core guys, and I went to fell asleep with a heavy heart. But when I woke up this morning, I felt calm. Here's why:

Posting and Toasting D'Antoni: The Gift and/or the Curse

Let me CRYSTAL CLEAR: I am not one of those "Fire D'Antoni because we lost three in a row" cats.

I don't believe coaches should be fired because of losing streaks. I believe that a coach should be evaluated on their overall body of work, and their ability to pull the best basketball possible out of their players.

I trust Donnie Walsh and his decision-making, and Donnie believes that Pringles is the best man for the job. Cool. I'm going to roll with that.

Still, you've got to admit, D'Antoni does some things that drive me absolutely nuts.

Jump and find out if we're bothered by the same things.

Posting and Toasting Fesenko serves as a reminder tonight

What's up posties,

My students are taking standarized tests all day so I don't have a lot to do (actually there's a lot I could be doing but I don't feel like it). My mind kept wandering to the Knicks need for a true center, and it occurred to me that tonight we could get an extended look at Fesenko, and that should remind us all of an important truth...

Posting and Toasting Response to a Heart "Felt" Post.

If you didn't read Jerzee Balla's post, go check it out. It clears up some misconceptions about who believes what on this site, and I like that. HOWEVER, I need to take issue with number three:

Posting and Toasting The purpose of Anthony Randolph

Donnie Walsh is pretty smart, guys. I don't think he makes moves just because he's bored or because one of the players in the deal has a cool name (although that's what we expect after Isiah). I don't think Walsh would bring a player unless he had a specific purpose for them, an exact role that he knew would help the team. So the question is, what was Donnie Walsh's intended purpose for bringing in Anthony Randolph?

Jump like Mike D'Antoni just told you to get off the bench!

Posting and Toasting Who is our Closer? Who should be our Closer?

Yo guys,

Remember the first game of the season against the Raptors? Stoudemire had a subpar game, but down the stretch the Knicks gave the ball to Stoudemire, and Stoudemire went to work on a mediocre Toronto frontcourt to "close" the game out. We were all pleased (myself included), and Knicks fans everywhere congratulated each other on finally having a "closer," a player that could create tough buckets in cruch time and put the game away.

Fast forward nine games. How has Amare performed as our "closer?" Terrible. He starts twenty feet from the basket, drives into the teeth of the defense, and usually misses or turns the ball over (occasionally gets bailed out with a foul). And it's not his fault. Everyone on this website seems to agree that the Knicks desperately need to get the ball to Stoudemire closer to the rim, and when he's on the move.

However, I realized that there is a fundamental problem that must be resolved before we continue the futility of forcing the ball to our "closer" at the end of ball games.  The problem is that Amare is not our "closer." He never was. Raymond Felton is our "closer."

Posting and Toasting Great Posterizations in Knicks History

So, my heart is just starting to return to a normal rate since seeing Wilson Chandler decapitate JaVale McGee with a reverse tomahawk jam. Since everyone's been buzzing about the dunk, and where this dunk should rank, let's take a trip down memory lane and reflect on some of the greater dunks in Knicks history (dunk contests not included). Jump... but don't be surprised if you end up on a poster!
