My picks I would say are realistic given the money we have to spend. Others will think that players like Chris Andersen will command too much money. I don't think will be able to sign everyone, but I am just making some possible picks out of the list that I think the C's should consider this offseason.

Out of the list of point guards available I think that the following may suit the C's as a backup to Rondo for the MLE:

    * Anthony Parker
    * Lindsey Hunter
    * Bobby Jackson

I don't think Marbury is going to sign for the MLE and the one guy on the list that I would love to get is Sessions, but I think the Bucks are going to let Villanueva go and keep Sessions.

http://www.rotoevil.com/nba/2009-free-agents-point-guards

Out of the list of shooting guards available I think the following will suit the C's:

    * Anthony Parker

I like Anthony Parker for the C's. I think we should stay defensive minded and he fits the bill. I think we can get him pretty cheap. I'd like to rid ourselves of TA and get this guy. Also, I'd like to sign House if we can as well. If House goes we should grab him immediately. We still have Giddens as well.

http://www.rotoevil.com/nba/2009-free-agents-shooting-guards

Out of the list of small forwards available I think that the following will suit the C's:

    * Matt Barnes
    * Grant Hill
    * Ime Udoka

http://www.rotoevil.com/nba/2009-free-agents-small-forwards

Out of the list of power forwards available I think that the following will suit the C's:

    * Chris Andersen
    * Anotnio McDyess

I thought the Bird Man is more of a PF than a C. And even though most people don't think we can afford him I still think we can get him for 3 - 4 million a year. If we can re-sign BBD for something reasonable then we keep him, if not we should grab the bird man for sure. I'd hold on to Powe as well, and try and get McDyess for MLE.

http://www.rotoevil.com/nba/2009-free-agents-power-forwards

A great backup center for Perk would be Gortat, but it looks like NY is suiting him. I don't care for Pachulia. Sheed is the best option if he somehow someway wants to come to Boston for less money. If we can get McDyess to come maybe he'll come. One other option is to try and get Camby away from the Clippers. They are going to draft Griffin and already have Kaman and Zebo so I can see them willing to part with Camby. He's often injured, but if he played limited minutes he's as good as it gets on the defensive end and has a mid-range game.

Players we should trade and replace with something from the aforementioned:

    * Tony Allen
    * Gabe Pruitt
    * Scal - Love Scal, but he's gotta go with his expiring contract

Giddens
SF   Paul Pierce
        Matt Barnes   (FA Pick Up)
        Bill Walker
PF   Kevin Garnett
        Chris Andersen  (FA Pick Up)
        Glen Davis
        Leon Powe
C     Kendrick Perkins
        Rasheed Wallace  (FA Pick Up)

Can it be done??

Can Garnett convince his friend Sheed to come to Boston for a another championship run before he retires as a backup to Perk who can defend and stretch out defenses with his 3 point shooting ability.

I think Barnes is very doable and 1 of 3 great FA SF options. The other 2 that I like are Marquis Daniels and Jarvis Hayes. I like Grant Hill but with all his injuries at age 37 start of next year it may be too risky to depend on him to stay healthy all year. A SF backup for Pierce all year is the priority.

I love the "bird man" for our team and I think he fits in perfectly. High energy, great defender, and a good rebounder. Adding that kind of high energy depth to our bench is necessary especially with question marks on BB Davis staying and Powe out for a long while next year. The other PF that sticks out of course is McDyess, but McDyess is up there in age as well.

Bobby Jackson is 36, but I think he can be a viable backup to Rondo. The other FA PG that sticks out is Tyronne Lue who is younger and another low cost option. The best option available is Bibby, but unless House can convince his brother in law to come play with him to win a championship for a lot less money it's a long shot.

I think the goal for the Celtics is to try and win another championship now so getting guys to fill in now is the key. We are not in a rebuilding process and and when we do start that process without the big 3 it's going to be a few losing seasons, but that's what we signed up for by assembling the big 3. The only way I can see us breaking up the big 3 that may make sense is to trade Ray Allen and somehow get Ron Artest, and move Pierce to SG. We are surely going to meet Lebron again so having Artest on Lebron freeing up Pierce on the defensive end is a huge plus. I don't see that happening unless the Rockets get rid of McGrady as well, and Artest was the catalyst for their run in the playoffs so I see them re-signing him. But you never know with Artest. I just don't see us breaking up the big 3 this soon, or should I say big 4 or 5 with the way Rondo and Perk have matured. Leave the starting 5 alone for now.
