For a conditional draft pick.

Mocking The Draft Mocka Flocka Flame!

Yes, the title is misleading, and no, I do not like the music of the guy I just made a pun on.

Anywho, this is just another mock draft - half serious, half stupidity. Feedback is welcomed. Enjoy.

Toronto trades Beauchemin back to Anaheim for Joffrey Lupul, Jake Gardiner, and a 2013 conditional draft pick.

I think it's a good deal for both sides - thoughts?

The Avs traded for Ryan O'Byrne today in exchange for prospect Michael Bournival.

In the post on Mile High Hockey, there's one post about how O'Byrne is like a cheaper Scott Hannan. I don't know if that's a viable comparison, but I know there's been discussion on the Rink that Hannan would be an option for a D-man trade for the Caps.

With the O'Byrne trade, maybe the Avs might deem Hannan expendable. I want to gauge feedback on whether or not people here think he'd be someone to go after.

He's got a $4.5 million cap hit for this year, so that might be an issue.

Shane O'Brien's been put on waivers in Vancouver. Earlier in the summer, we discussed picking up a D-man from Vancouver. Now that he's on waivers, do you think the Caps should put in a claim?

"I don't want to hear about the unproven Stephen Strasburg, the aging Donovan McNabb or even two-time hockey MVP Alex Ovechkin, who plays a sport most Americans still don't care about. (Sorry, Caps fans.)"

Japers' Rink What can we learn from the Caps' first round exit?

"To me, error analysis is the sweet spot for improvement." - Donald Norman

I know how disappointing this loss can be for some of you guys (especially the fans who have been here from the beginning). The Capitals had their best regular season ever, setting many records and taking the President's Trophy for the first time in franchise history. Yet, as we all know (and maybe have been reminded of), the regular season means nothing come playoff time.

As fans and personal analysts, of course we have many reasons to put behind this upset. If the Capitals are smart, they will look over this series, see what they did wrong, and correct it. We all take the mistakes we make and try to learn from them, and I expect the Capitals will do the same.

So, from my perspective, what are a few things that we can learn?

We'll find out after the jump.

Japers' Rink When you know it's the playoffs...

Washington_capitals_fans_cheering_420ks_medium

via www.blogcdn.com

Well, Rink Rats and Rabbits, it's that time of year again. The time of year where we grow our playoff beards and dye our hair, the time of year where Lord Stanley dominates our dreams and minds, the time of year where the enemies of our enemies become our friends, and most importantly, the time of year where we root our damn lungs out for our team, the Washington Capitals. What time of year, I ask, is better than this one?

People say the Capitals don't have what it takes to win it all. They say that defense wins championships, and that the Capitals have none. They say that we have no goaltending. They say that Ovechkin will choke, and that we won't go far. You know what? It's a whole 'nother season now. Anything can happen. And if they say the Capitals can't win, then who can?

This team is built for winning. From June 26, 2004, the foundation for success started with No. 8. Nearly six years later, we're looking for a championship. There's no doubt the Capitals can win it this year, because in the playoffs, anything can happen.

We all know the kind of season our Capitals have had. History has dominated this year. Record highs in points, goals, plus/minus, and wins. It's all nice and good, right? Well, all that's said and done and in our rearview mirror. It's the second season now. The season where every win, every check, every save matters. We may not have control over that, but we have control over supporting our team. So wherever you are tonight, be it at the Verizon Center screaming like a fanboy/fangirl or at home biting your nails off, support the team, no matter what happens.

Because tonight, 16 wins stand in the way of the Capitals and glory.

Let's Rock the Red.

Michael Wilbon's latest chat on WaPo.com, where he says Ovechkin "behaved wretchedly during the Games when he shoved the camera of some woman, reportedly a fan who had traveled thousands of miles to see her heroes on the Russian team play."

Another bit: "Ovechkin, according to other players in the NHL, deals out cheap shots. His own coach, if you remember the stories and stop making up accusations about others, said his star was being out of control."

More: "Crosby is so far ahead of Ovechkin right now Ovie would need a telescope to see him. Crosby, not yet 22, has won the Stanley Cup (by going through Ovechkin), the Olympics (again, by going through Ovehckin) and the World Championships ... He's lapped Ovie"

Even more: "Where's the intolerance over Ovechkin's behavior? Where are the columns screaming for him being discipllined? What kind of garbage is that?" (I guess Mr. Wilbon doesn't read The Hockey News)

Mikey, there's a reason you only cover basketball and go on a show with Tony K. Maybe you should stick to that.

Now, if someone could bless this fanpost with a beloved porcupine...

Japers' Rink THN takes a shot at the Caps

Our buddies at THN, or more specifically, Adam Proteau, takes a shot at the Capitals in his latest article. He questions the team's goaltending and defense (yawn - who hasn't?) mainly. Here's my analysis on his article.

Note: I'm a newbie at this statistic stuff :) If you wanna post your fancy shmancy statistics, feel free to do so in the comments. I'm going 1st grade with this.

Rangers and Canucks brawl from yesterday. Kesler gets jumped by four Rangers, and a scrum ensues. O'Brien pokes Avery. Good stuff.

And listen at 2:30 for some good swearing between Hordichuk and Avery.
